I've worn the Torin for 6 years now with the Paradigm and the Olympus as work shoes occasionally and my question is "Where is the toebox going?" The new Torin 4 toebox is significantly smaller than the 3.5. And what is with the squeak?!?!?!? I cannot stress how irritating it is every time I step with my right foot that this squeak happens. The squeak was present right out of the box. And I know this is petty but I really can't stand the new laces. They're skinny and super long and just don't feel good in your hands. I feel that Altra really dropped the ball on the new Torin. I hope that the lack of a toebox isn't their new normal or I will have to find a new shoe for running, gym work, everyday....you get the picture.

I purchased these because I have acute bunions and Altra is known for its wide toe boxes. While the toe boxes are fairly wide, they're no more than average depth. Even worse, rather than having a flexible, sock-like upper, the uppers (and sides) have rigid rubber overlays that won't accommodate and will irritate those whose bunions require more than medium depth and flexibility. On a more minor note, and while this may be just personal preference, the color choices leave much to be desired.

Altra you have broken my heart! I owned 6 pairs of Torin 2.5s because the toe box was wide and I was crushing it! This model is too narrow for me and I can't find the 2.5s anywhere! PLEASE make a wide toe box again. PLEASE!!!! Cha girl's foot is wide!

Great looking. Did not have enough room to accommodate toes properly, the toe box curves too much. My other toes are as long as my big toe. If that is not an issue for you, then they are great.

I have worn many different running shoe brands. The Altra Torin 4 is the worst shoe I have ever owned. There is no plantar support such that I thought I was going to develop plantar fasciitis. But I persevered, thinking that I just needed to break them in. After a couple months of wearing them, I developed a tendon strain that caused bruising and swelling on the top of my foot. I could barely walk for a couple days, which is a huge disappointment for a runner. I do not recommend this shoe for running.

I hate coming on and adding a negative review. I'be reviewed the Torin 4 before with a 5 star review. I'm not sure if something in manufacturing has changed but the last 4 pair I've bought have just not been right. I order 2 at a time usually - through altra or a different site if colors or sizes aren't in that I want. I am a long distance walk and runner and change shoes about every 5 weeks. The last 4 pair I've had have worn through in 3 weeks and nothing I've done has changed as far as distance, pace, or form. This last pair, 2 weeks in, I felt like they'd been worn for 5-6 weeks. It's resulted into switching brands. I've loved altra's- but something has had to have changed.

This was my fifth pair of Altras and will probably be my last. The quality keeps declining. They are very hard to get on. No stability on the back of the shoe and it slumps down into the shoe when trying to put the shoes on. Also the heel started showing wear after only a few wearing. I turned so many people onto your shoes in the last few years but no longer recommend them. Looking for a new brand.

I just returned the Torin 4. I have been wearing the Altra Torin for several years and this is the first time I have not been satisfied. The elastic sleeve seemed to push my foot so far forward that the shoe felt too small. I also have a pair of the Torin plush that are ok, but not as comfortable for me as the Torin.
Please get rid of the sleeve.

I repurchased the Torin 4 because the previous ones were great. The first time I bought the pink and grey ones and I just recently got the blue ones. My feet hurt when I try running in these. The soles feel hard, the shoe feels tight (despite loosening the laces and ordering up a size) and my toes were going numb. I am extremely disappointed and the worst part is that I was confident that these shoes would not pose any problems given the previous model, that I threw the box away. Now I'm stuck with shoes that I can't even use to walk in.

I ran in Torin 3.5 for 3 years. It was the perfect shoe for me. But now of course they discontinued a perfectly good shoe trying to make it better. Which they haven't. For some reason both the Torin 4.0 and 4.0 plush cause so much calf pain. So disappointed in this company overall because they constantly try to improve and actually are moving away from good shoes. Not sure if they have a new design team or what. I am now looking for a new company completely.

I thought I would like these but had to return them as the insole under my heel was too narrow and rubbed on the bottom of my heel.

The Torin has changed so much from the original version and I'm so sad about it!!! The 2.0 had a wide toe box and was great for a full splay of the toes. They used to be my favorite shoe! The 4.0 are so narrow! What happened???

Regardless of how they fit I had to give them one star: I only wore them 4 times—for 30 min walks—and the sole began to tear loose. I could pull the toe back, the sole wasn’t attached to the shoe anymore. They went back and I exchanged them for the Hoka One One Bondi 6. The Altras had a nice wide toe box but obviously I wasn’t going to keep them once they came apart. As always Zappos was great with the return and the exchange for the Hokas.
I'd also recommend:

the front is very close to the sole of the shoe, it is as if your fingers are crushed this shoe is not what I expected 12 hours shift work and for the price it does not make any difference with the other brands

I used to love Altra shoes. At least the old style design. They advertise their shoes as a wide toe box that's not the case anymore. Recently bought a pair of Paradigm the new style because I had owned other paradigms and loved them. The new style they have narrowed the toe up and it's way too tight so you have to buy a size up which is too long. Got a pair of the new Torins style 4.0 today and the same thing. I can wear a size eight and eight and a half is too long and clumsy, but because they narrowed the front of the shoe, the toe box area the size 8 is way too tight. Really disappointed that they seem to keep doing this every time they create a new design. The provision which I used to wear no longer exists either. I used to love these shoes I guess now I'm stuck going back to wearing New Balance. They should stop advertising wide toe box because it's become more narrow. Hoka has a wider toe box.

I have been wearing Torins since 2017 and purchased my Altra 4s in late June. Within I month, I developed plantar fasciitis. I knew it was the shoes. My running store advised I switch to the Torin 4 Plush and I've been happy with these. The problem is, when they came out with the Plush version, they cut cushioning in the regular 4s.
