I love this shoe, truly, have bought 4 pairs. My issue is they do NOT last. I walk an average of 1 hour daily, no running and on soft ground, not sidewalk or asphalt. Yet, this shoe breaks down within 2-3 months. That is unacceptable. I am uncertain what to do, as I do love them, but cannot afford to spend to buy a new pair 4-6x a year!

I have worn Altras for the last 6 years. I love the Torin. This Torin 4 is just not as good as the others have been.

I have loved the torins for a long time. But PLEASE go back to the design of the torin 3.5!! The 3.5 is perfect for runners with wide feet, but running in the 4 is not the same. The back of the Shoe is too high on the heel as well.

The shoe was too tight across the laces, yet adequately roomy in toe box and I have hammer toes . too much cushioning for my feet. I bought size 7 and they were so tight across the instep it was hard to get the shoe on. I bought Altra Lone Peak kids size 6 and they fit fine.

They were comfortable, just not as cushy as I hoped for, from previous Altra’s. Felt tight all over.

I miss the 11 1/2 size. 11 is too small and the 12 I purchased us just too big. Please bring back the half size

I love Altras, but these were not a great fit for my wide forefoot. The harder rubber toe protection that wraps around the toe area came too far back towards my medial metatarsals, creating a crease upon take off right where I'm prone to get blisters and hot spots. I could just tell before using them that anything more than five miles would destroy that area of my foot, despite the larger than average Altra toe box. I like the idea behind the rubber- to increase durability- but if you have a bunion, or pre-bunion type problem, watch out. The shoe also felt a little stiff. I prefer the Altra models that are more flexible, breathable, and with a mesh upper, like the Escalantes (for shorter runs) or Provisions (for longer runs).

the torin plush is amazing for folks wide feet and high insteps. Unfortunately, the Torin 4, which I was THRILLED about (for the colors) is a completely different fit. :( The tongue inside is held down with an elastic, mesh material, which is not great for those of us with high insteps. If your feet are thick (in height) go for the plush! My hope is that they bring the black and teal to the plush as well!

I was so happy to have found a shoe I could run in again. Unfortunately they haven't been very durable. The outer heel wore out in two months and the outer toes in four months. I have never had that happen to a pair of shoes. Absolutely no tread left, just blown rubber.

I am currently running in the Torin 4 in size 7.5. They seemed too wide/big in the front so tried them in this size 7. Definitely too small, big toe hurts just wearing them around the house. Unfortunately the Torin is just not going to work in any size because the 7.5 folds over across my toes because it's a bit too wide. Under my big toes it starts to burn at about mile 6 because I think my toes are sliding around too much. I have the laces as snug as I can wear them but just can't get the shoe to stay snug in the front. The heel cup also comes up a bit higher than my other shoes and that seems to bother me when I get running more miles. It's actually caused my outer heel to feel like it's bruised. Too bad because there aren't many companies making a lot of low drop shoes. Hope that changes soon! Thanks ZAPPOS for letting me try all these shoes and send them back for FREE with absolutely no questions asked. You guys ROCK!!

Loved the first pair of Torin 4.0s. They seemed to have increased the length a bit over previous models, which is great. Liked them so much I bought a second pair, same size, different color. The second pair rub my feet on the instep, first just one foot, but now both feet as I have continued to wear them. I wear them during conditioning walks with my dogs, so this is not working for me. I've worn Torins for years and this is the first time I've been disappointed in the fit.

I have 3 pairs of altras and love them-all torins. I love them so much i bought a new pair for work. I bought half a size bigger than my others-because I am a nurse. I cannot even fit my foot in them. I am so let down. I just gave them to my niece. I am just bummed that no one near me carries them anymore and I am scared to buy them online again. They are still my favorite running shoes though for sure.

I've been trying several pairs of Altra shoes since the brand is mentioned in online forums by runners (I'm a walker) who suffer from a pinched nerve in the foot (Morton's Neuroma). I'm switching from a Brooks Launch size 11 and these are run shorter. I am reordering the next size, a 12 which may be too big. This model (Torin 4) is more cushioned than the 3.5 which I also tried and found to short and lacking cushion.

I'm sadly disappointed in this shoe. I've been a huge Altra Torin fan until they changed the shoe. I immediately began to experience pain when I got this shoe. Unfortunately, whatever Altra changed about this shoe does not support my ankle. I'm now in physical therapy for ankle tendonitis. I will be going back to a different brand.

I really wanted to love these shoes BUT I just could not get them laced comfortably. I have always worn Torins, but these just did not work.It felt like a knife was digging into my instep, no matter how loosely I laced them or what socks I tried. Maybe it was just this pair that was defective, but the extra inner part of the shoe seemed unnecessary and uncomfortable and the lacing was odd. So, back they go. I'll try the Escalante 2.5.

I have been wearing the Torin since they first came out. I buy them often and have loved them in the past. The recent fabric being used wears out so quickly after 2 to 3 months and I'm not running marathons! I average 10 miles a week running but use them for HITT training and weight lifting as well. The quality is lacking and I'm really disappointed. They just don't hold up like they used to.

I have worn Torins for 5 years. They have been great shoes. But the Torins 4 have been redesigned. I do not think the changes that have been made to the shoe are positive. The shoe is even wider at the toes. But, along with adding width they should have improved the cushioning to stabilize the foot. They did not and now my foot is constantly shifting around in the shoe. I now need to find another brand.

Nice: Lightweight, nice color, nicely cushioned
Not-So-Much: Stiff, narrow toe box compared to other models, clunky on a run, difficult to fine the right lace pressure (tightness)
I wore them twice, once on a short three mile run on both asphalt and trail and then again today on a walk and then on about my day. Had them on from 5:00AM to 2:00PM and my dogs are howling. It's been hours since I took them off and my feet are still sore.
What's the point of an Altra shoe if THE TOE BOX IS NARROW??

I've been wearing Altra Torins since the 2.0 version and this is by far the worst iteration I have worn. The cushion is hard and feels terrible on the street after the initial break in period. It doesn't take the impact of streets well and isn't built for trail running. I wouldn't waste your money on this road shoe.

I so desperately wanted these to work. I used to wear Altra's for my long runs and thought I'd be able to find success again with these Torin's. I started out easy with a slower pace and shorter distances. As expected, my calves were a bit sore after the first run but then they were fine going forward. The issue I can't get past and can't accept is the low back tension I'm left with the day after my run and that actually persists for days after. I've never had back problems and I can now expect this dull ache like clockwork if I've run in these Altra's the day before. This could completely be an individual issue but since it's my body, I have to return these.

I'm coming off of my provinces to these as my road shoes and trail run in my lone peaks, whom I love dearly. I want to love this shoe. But it is FAR narrower than either of the models I just mentioned. I have fairly narrow feet which is why i find it surprising. I am finding that they're causing me pain and not leaving room for my feet to expand sideways. Part way through my run, i can see that they're expanding/pushing the sides out but my toe room is completely fine. I wish I had figured this out sooner since I need them with the trails closed for Corona and road running becoming more important.

I have another pair of Torin 4's, and I love them. I ordered a second pair in a different color, and they literally are not the same shoe. They have the same size and model, but are much more cheaply made, and about 1/2 inch shorter. Bummer.

I have been wearing Altras since the beginning, when they used to be great for running with a wide toe box. With each "advancement" of the shoe, you stray farther from the original design. I have the Timp 1.5 which I love, but for distance road running they get a little hard. So I took a chance on these, since I had the Torins in 2015 and loved them. The Torin 4.0 are no different from any other mainstream clunky, chunky, overly-cushioned sneakers for women. The backs are too high and stiff and curve and dig and rub into your Achilles tendon. The toebox is more narrow, and what's up with the weird elastic thing on the inside that attaches to hard plastic through the laces? After one short 5 mile run, my feet hurt and I couldn't wait to take them off. I will try to see if they can be broken in but over all disappointed with this chunky shoe. I also wish you made men's down to size 6, because the fit is better in the heel and I feel like you are making women's shoes for the average women walker, not runners. Please go back to your roots.

I have loved my Torins in the past, and thought it would be safe to upgrade to the Torin 4 without trying them on in person. Unfortunately, they are too small, and the toe box is much more narrow than my Torin 3.5's. I don't know why Altra would change them so drastically. I am disappointed and will return.
