alta has changed their sizing, I used to have to buy a size 8 in their running shoes even though I'm pretty much a 7.5 across the board and this time I had to send the 8's back and get a 7.5. best shoes for those with bunions hands down.

I've had a pair of Provision 3.5 shoes for a few years -- at the time they were a blessing for my bunion because of the wide toe box -- and when they finally gave out I ordered another pair of Provisions, the latest model. I was *stunned* to see how narrow the toe box was on those shoes. The whole point of Altra, as I understood it when they were recommended to me, is the wide toe box. I could barely get the Provisions on my feet, and one walk in them was enough to convince me I wasn't crazy. After more browsing around the site, I found a number of reviews stating that the Torin 4 was more like the old Provisions in shape, so I ordered a pair and found I agree with those reviewers. I even took photos of all three shoes together, to prove to myself I wasn't crazy: the new Torin is on the left, the new Provision in the middle, and my old Provision on the right. The Provisions went back and I bought a second pair of Torin 4 for when the first pair wears out, because I'm not sure I can trust the next model of Torin won't also be too narrow. Four stars for the comfort of the shoe, one star docked for the misleading nature of the disappearing wide toe box.

Love the shoes, had to buy them a size smaller. I've loved every pair of altra's I've got, but there is one problem. I don't know if any one else was notice this, but on a treadmill I'm sliding all over, it feels kind of dangerous. I've been wearing my old Torins on the treadmill. Outside I do not notice it at all. I was wondering if anyone else had the same trouble.

The idea of Altra's foot shape makes a lot of sense. However, I found that with my very slight bunion, my big toe isn't straight but leans in toward the second toe so there is a gap between the my toe and the medial side of the shoe. Altras would be great for those with natural looking feet. I found that these were more like typical running shoes and less minimalist. I tried the Altra Superior 4 and these. I preferred these for comfort.

I use my shoes for road running and for boot camp/cross fit. I have very mixed emotions about these shoes. It's taken me a long time to find a running shoe that I absolutely loved. After years of injuries and issues...my chiropractor recommended that I give these shoes a try. I immediately noticed a difference and finally started to feel better with my injured areas. These are the best running shoes I've used in a long time! I truly feel the drop zero has helped me to fix some of my incorrect running form issues. But, one thing I don't get...there is never a new style. I've already ordered all the styles that are currently on the market. And yet there is still nothing new and exciting. The color choices are just not appealing to me. Brooks has some cool options to chose from but, I hate their shoes. These are the best but I'm almost embarrassed to wear them. Please come out with some cooler/prettier/better options!!!

The shoes were a little different for me. This was my first experience with Altras. My marathon runner friend just loves them. The wide toe box was really nice, but I had a difficult time with the zero drop. I might try them again in the future.

These shoes are awesome but I think if you have a narrow foot these are probably a no go. I hadn't seen them before because I always put in wide width as a filter. Normally I wear wide width Hoka's but the latest pair of Bondi's that I bought, the arch support was digging into the side of my arch. This had been an issue I was noticing for a lot of the wide running shoes I recently tried. Large in the toe box area but went in too narrow in the middle of the foot. These shoes have plenty of room all over and while this version comes in plush (which I liked about the Hoka's) the Torin has ample plush making them more comfortable than the plush version because they felt a bit too high and therefore unstable.
I'd also recommend:
Hoka, Sorel

I am a diehard Altra fan and have had previous versions of the Torin. The 4 runs really big and a little bit wide. I almost sent them right back but decided to keep them for the 30 day trial and ended up making them work. An easy fix would be to go a half (or possibly a full) size down but unfortunately I would need an 11.5 which Altra doesn't make. I don't understand why they changed to make them run so much larger (with my already big feet, these look like clown shoes). The Timp 1.5 seems to be made on the same last as it has the same too big issue. I'd appreciate more consistency in sizing! I'm happy with the support and comfort overall with some creative lacing/tying.

The Torin 4 shoes are very comfortable on my wide flat feet. Due to wearing narrow shoes I have Morton's neuroma on one foot. These shoes have eased my nerve pain. Can't wait to get back to running without shooting nerve pain!!! Been wearing these during my 12 hour shift and i feel great at the end.

I have bunions and a Morton's neuroma, but I also have very slim heels so finding a shoe to accommodate my foot issues can be difficult. The fit of the shoe and the space in the toe box is great, so much so that it makes it hard for me to go back to other more narrow shoes. The cushioning is excellent and the zero drop design is my favorite part of the shoe. On the con side however, the laces are extremely long and annoying so I have to tuck them in to keep them from flopping/dragging on the ground. Also I will say although I'm very into the natural foot shape/feel of the shoes, I overpronate so occasionally on long runs I can get mild pain on the inner portion of my ankles considering there's minimal arch support. Overall love the concept of the shoe and it's helped in some ways, but I wasn't as blown away by them as I wanted to be.

I have been dissatisfied with the last two pairs of Torins (3&3.5)sneakers I have owned...especially the Torin 3.5. However, these are more like the Torin 2.5 that I loved. I purchased the black and teal Torin 4 in a size 9(fits true to size). I'm happy to say these sneaker are more stylish then the previous Torins. So, thank you Altra for making these Torin 4 sneakers better and more stylish.

I love the idea of these shoes. The wider toe box for that natural toe splay is really nice. I personally found these shoes too narrow. I don't have a wide foot but the lack of arch support was also a concern as my feet kept wanting to roll inward. The arch of my feet didn't enjoy wearing these shoes even after a short 10 minute walk/run. Maybe the men's version will feel better?

These's shoes are very comfortable and I love the wide toe box. However I took a star off for how my ankles and achilles react to the zero drop. I have terrible pain in my ankles and achilles while wearing these. I can wear them for very short runs but anything over 4 miles causes problems. I will try to start wearing them to work (I'm an RN) since I am past the 30 day trial period, but as for running, they cause too many issues for me.

These shoes are great. However I feel that I am not someone who can wear a zero drop shoe. I purchased a heel lift to add 4mm to the heel and they feel a lot better. Prior to that, it almost felt like a negative drop (I.e. my toe area felt higher than the heel. Comfy shoe, with lots of cushion, but doesn’t feel too squishy. They were a bit too soft for me to run in, but they are great for walking around town.

Just ran a full marathon in these new Torin 4's. Great shoe, so far no toenails lost, my only issue is a blister on my big toe. Shoe may be a little too wide in the toe box area but ultimately I love the added space. Was able to cinch at mid-foot for great fit no slip. Cushion is perfect for the distance without exerting additional energy.

I normally wear 9.5 in running shoes. I had to go up 1 full size in this shoe and lone peak. Very happy with the fit and feel on roads and even sand (during low tide). Coming back from a 3rd knee surgery and decided to go zero drop. This shoe is my first experience and so far so good. Feels plush but responsive. My one and only complaint are the really long shoe laces! I have to double or triple knot them. On the plus side, haven't noticed them coming undone. Will be picking up another pair soon.

I tried three times to get the right fit and each time fit was too small. I'm usually a 8 in athletic shoes so after trying a 9.5 I gave up. Unfortunate as this shoe is touted as best for people with bunions. Back to the drawing board.

I run on treadmill and wear to walk long distance. The shoes seem to be having less cushion than they used to and feel more narrow. I don't like the elastic inside at all. I have very wide high arch and instep and they aren't as comfortable as they used to be.

The dimensions of the shoe are smaller and narrower than Torin 3.5 (Which were always a little too big). So these shoes feel fine. But They have much less cushioning which I have not pleased with. You have really changed the shoe - and should give it a different name.

I usually love Altras. I've run in the escalante and also also the lone peaks and love both of them. I was thinking I might like to try a little more cushion to see if they'd last a little long. This shoe is not for me and I'll be going back to the escalante. The shoe feels narrow in the toe box and also rubs on my heels, even with good cushioned socks. I'll continue wearing them to see if I might feel differently once I get used to them, but I won't buy this model again.
