I bought the bag with 2 weeks before my next work trip thinking I'd have plenty of time. I checked on status after a week and the bag showed as location unknown but delivery expected the next day. It didn't show up and I had to call a couple times before I got someone that could tell me the bag had been damaged. They then overnighted the bag but it didn't arrive until the morning I had already left for my trip. I don't know how long it would have taken if I hadn't been persistent. Outside of the shipping struggles, the bag seems to be high quality and had lots of discreet pockets. I would like a few more dedicated pockets or features on the insides of pockets. Meaning pen holders, business card holders, just pockets of different sizes that I have always been able to find uses for in past backpacks. For my next bag I'll definitely look at timbuk2 again as long as this bag holds up for a few years.

I've only used it for one 3 day business trip thus far (plus roller) and I'm pretty impressed. The water bottle holder works well and the straps are well designed to take up the slack. I also like being able to get to my laptop easily and just as quickly stow it back away. One gripe: I wish it had dedicated place for business cards

Never (ever) write reviews, but this bag is pretty perfect. Well-made, looks great, fits more than enough. Loved that you can easily unbutton and remove the chest straps, which i didn't want/need. Highly recommend.

Perfect for my son to take to college. He said it will fit all that he needs to have, feels very comfortable on his back. He also loves the jacket holder at the bottom.

Kick butt bag! Durable and doesn't feel like a saggy diaper on your back. I'd recommend it over and over as it's better than Cats!

I absolutely love this bag. I commute 25 minutes to work M-F and am required to bring my laptop home every night. This bag is perfect for my needs. I can comfortably fit my laptop (Dell Precision 7530; ~1.17" x 14.8" x 9.89") in the protected sleeve department with plenty of room for a folder, iPad and Moleskin notebook in the main compartment, all with plenty of room to spare. It also has organization for my travel charger, additional cables, and MX Master 2s. My one single complaint is that the pen slots are a little small. I had to apply excess force to get two Pilot G2's to fit. Other than that, I've loved this pack and recommend it to everyone I know.

After trying and returning 10 bags , this is the perfect one - great medium size, has just enough pockets to stay organized but not enough to look like someone climbing Everest, hads a water bottle holder and a luggage carrier strap. Great aesthetic. I couldn't be happier.

This bag has really comfy straps and back padding. It has enough room for a computer, all the various glasses, pens, chargers, keys I bring to and from work. And room for a change of clothes or few books. The organization is great, and the construction is very nice. As others have said, this is not a large bag, so I don't know if I would use this for a weekend trip. But it's great as a day bag.

I am so happy with this purchase. The backpack has a great design, from all the points of view: organization, functionality, zippers and everything else. It is not a big backpack but it's enough for work and travels. I used it for 2 days travel, and I could fit everything I needed there, so not so small. I am happy with my choice.

The backpack is taller and narrower than I expected. The padded computer compartment is nice but a bit tight. But overall the quality of the pack is excellent, it looks nice, comfortable to wear.

I needed a backpack that would fit my 15.6" Wacom tablet PC, so I thought I'd try the Authority Deluxe- I'm impressed! The computer fits great with tons of padding, and it's comfortable on my back. This bag replaces another Timbuk2 17" notebook backpack that I've had since 2006 that I traveled the world with. Glad to see the quality is even better than my classic pack, which is still totally functional- I just wanted a bit more storage space and more modern features (like the water bottle pocket and the bottom straps for holding a jacket).

Big enough for laptop, gear and overnight. Small enough to fit under the seat in front of me.

Great commuter pack. This replaced my Timbuk2 messenger which felt heavy on my 1.6 mile walk. The material is stiff, so when I don't have much in it the pack still does not hang off my back. But then when I need the extra capacity it is definitely there. (As a matter of fact, today brought 4 suits to the tailor and he let me keep the wooden hangers I had them on - this pack absorbed them completely like they were a compressible rain shell.) The organizer and quick access pockets are great. I've carried it through light rain and it has kept my stuff dry. The computer pocket is well padded. My only (mild) critiques: The pen holders are too close to the catch-all pocket above them so it is hard to get pens in and out. Some days I wish there were two bottle holders. Neither of these is a big deal.

Nice to have compartments for all the different items. Could have two water bottle compartments instead of one.

The backpack is excellent quality. It's front pouch is nice for small quick things. The middle pouch is great for your pens, chargers, wires, batteries, etc. The back compartment holds a fair amount of things for daily use such as notebooks, tablets, or a laptop. You can even fit a few pieces of clothing. The back laptop compartment is a nice addition if you want to place it there, and it's well-padded. The back and strap cushions are really comfortable and feel really durable. The bottom straps work well for rolling up my jacket when it gets a little warmer.

This fits my 17" Dell laptop perfectly. I bought it because I wanted the slimmer dimension for bicycle riding and professional look. I see some reviews critique the capacity, but for me its perfect. Its not all purpose luggage but it does exactly what I need. I can fit the laptop drawing pad, pens, book, and mouse and chord in a really tight package in the three distinct compartments. the laptop slot is very well padded with quilted stitching. The pockets are great for ID, keys and such. Just the right amount. It slides nicely over my roller bag handle as well for air travel. The stitching, zippers, tabs etc. are all top notch. Carrying handle, straps are comfortable and strong. I looked for a long time at different manufacturers. This is not my first Timbuk2 bag, but this one is the best. Glad I bought it.

Only been with it a week, but this is a great, high quality product! A little stiff still while I'm in the breaking in process, but can tell right away it's a highly dependable, huge upgrade over your off the rack computer bag.

This bag is so easy to use for work / travel - the laptop section is easy to access and the materials feel like they are so tough. The bag can fit on a piece of luggage really easily. But the BEST feature is all of hte pockets and organization - this bag just makes me so happy, all fo my stuff fits perfectly.

Great bag and love it! I use it for work and travel. The only design flaw is that the water bottle pocket on the side is a bit small and only fits narrow bottles.

The backpack is very sturdy and comfortable. I love all the different compartments too. The one thing that I think needs to be improved is the water bottle pocket. At first, I thought the small pocket would give a little bit, but it doesn't. I can't fit my big water bottles and always bring my water everywhere. I only have one water bottle that fits. Please make a bigger pocket!

So far the bag is great (1 month of use). I like its simplicity in compared to the larger version. The sides straps do make opening and closing it difficult at times. Water bottle holder is perfect for slim bottles. Seems durable, but there is a bit of fraying already I can see. I will see how it holds up over time.
