Bought for off trail and uneven, rocky terrain. Did not fail me. Hiked 5.25 miles first time wearing through creeks and slate beds. Great stability on slick terrain! Happy with fit (ran true to size) and no problems!

I was surprised by these hiking boots. While they supported my feet and ankles, they had almost no cushioning on the inside. Within an hour of wearing them, my toes began to tingle and feel numb. I could not wear them for more than an hour. I tried to wear them on 3 different hikes, adjusting the straps and laces, to no avail. It always ended with numb toes and feet. Could just be my particular body and feet that didn't fit the shoes, rather than the other way around. Hoka has an amazing return policy and within hours of mailing the shoes back to them, I had a refund in my account. I would definitely purchase other products from Hoka but not these particular shoes.

I bought these and were excited about the ankle support since I have weak ankles that easily roll, and I'm tired of the heavy hiking books that don't breath much and wanted to try these out as an alternative.... The ankle straps are pointless and offer zero extra support for my ankles. even when pulled all the way. the excess strap just sticks out to the side an you can't tighten it any more because you run out of velcro. They are lighter and more comfortable than hiking boots, but I won't wear them on anything more than a stroll on the trails by my house

I think this is the first time I've been disappointed with my Hoka purchase. They're not as comfortable as all my other Hoka's. They're very uncomfortable and thee is no cushion in the heel.

Very big and clunky, the heel dips back and feels awkward. No dice on these guys, had to send them back.

I was looking at this pair for a long time. After reading reviews got a half size smaller, 7.5 which fits ok but after wearing them for a whole day, my feet hurt. The Velcro strap is pretty useless unless your feet are very narrow. I have high tops Hoka and they are much more comfortable though run bigger, size 8 was a little big but perfect for the winter with warm socks. Good thing is they are waterproof and good for hiking but not running.

We travel light so I bought these as my primary walking/hiking shoe. I broke them in on a treadmill 1-15% grades to make sure they were broken in for our trip. They started rubbing my heels because of where the neoprene and thick stitching is positioned. I tried taller socks as well as tightening/loosening the Velcro straps, but they still rub. The cushion and look of the shoe and overall design idea was good ( they even have vibram soles) but not wanting to wear them in fear of another blister is a deal breaker for me.

I wear Hokas for my workouts 6 days a week. They are great shoes. I ordered hiking boots for my recent section hike of the Appalachian Trail. I broke my boots in well before starting the hike. Unfortunately, I got major blisters the first day and had to cut my hike short by a week. I am super bummed that these boots blistered my feet so badly. I wanted to love them as much as I love my Hokas for working out.

I ordered the same size I normally order in the Speed Goat and had to send them back to size down. Received second pair and they were still so bag. Very wide on my narrow foot and the toe box felt strange with the laces almost to the end of the shoe.

I bought the Arkali because I liked the styling better than my Speedgoats. However, what I did not realize until I was hiking in the snow was that the Arkali (unlike the Speedgoat) is not waterproof - AT ALL. Super bummer for me, because good hiking shoes should ALWAYS be waterproof. Very sad that I spent this much money on these shoes.

Disappointing. I was expecting a softer, springy-er shoe. These look way better than they feel. The back of the shoe is quite taut. I would not want to take these on a hike, because I feel they would cause problems around the back of the achilles sooner than later. There is no arch support whatsoever, and the sole feels a bit stiff as well. I'm returning them.

It's pricey for its kind. It's like I only paid for the looks and not the comfort.

I was hoping for a great pair of hiking shoes Not the shoes weren't good however my feet need more support. The piece that comes around the ankle as written in other reviews was also annoying.

I bought these to go hiking out west. It only took a few miles on local trails to realize some of the other reviews were right: The heel rub issue ruins these otherwise great shoes. Because it is part of the construction of the shoes, loosening the velcro strap on the back (or undoing it entirely) has no effect on the part of the shoe that jabs into the area right above the heel -- near the achilles tendon. When I yanked these off after getting back to the car, I had marks on both heels. I gave it one more go with thick socks instead of the thin ones I usually prefer, but nothing could overcome this issue. Hoka was easy to arrange a return with and I had no issue getting my money back. As a loyal Hoka customer I appreciate this, as my Cliftons are excellent shoes -- even if it is back to the drawing board on hiking shoes.

I've looked for a great hiking shoe for what feels like a lifetime. Unfortunately these aren't it. I wear an 8.5 W and just like all the other brands while breaking in around the house my toes went numb. The toes pinch and the heel adjust is a nightmare in uncomfort.
