I walked 500 miles over the Pyrenees mountains and across Spain on the Camino de Santiago wearing the Sky Arkali's and carrying a light (20 pound) pack. They provided great support for my plantar fasciitis (I added molded insoles). The Camino has a wide variety of terrain: soft and sandy, rocky, pavement, muddy sticky clay, cobble stones, and slick rock. I even wore them on a bicycle for three days. The Arkali's had great grip on all surfaces (and enough flexibility to ride a bike). The Vibram soles held up well, only showing wear on the outside of the heal where my foot strikes first. The shoes are very versatile: sometimes I wore them so loose that they felt like slippers, but with a quick tightening of the Velcro around the ankle, I could tighten them up for extra stability on rough ground, or to keep my feet in place going down a steep hill. I plan on taking them on the JMT next!!

I do mostly desert hiking and love that these have an incredible grip for rocks and boulders, and they are light weight, so I don't get tired!

Have loved my Hoka Clifton 5 & another pair I have for cross training. Will return these. Heel moves around even when tightening back velcro strap. Larger strap for ankle is cumbersome & even when loose, is uncomfortable & cuts into ankle when walking.Found it difficult to tighten laces. Foot padding is great but design is questionable for hiking. My other hikers fit & feel way better than this design.

I broke my ankle last year and struggled to find a shoe that was comfortable and supportive enough to resume walking. I am able to log 3 - 5 pain-free miles in these shoes. Thank you!

I LOVE my new Hoka Akalis! They are roomy in the toe box...I have bunions...comfy like slippers...and both supportive and very protective feeling...solid rubber across the toes. I hear what people are saying about the slight fabric inward curve at the back of the heel...so far it feels like a "hug" to me! Let's hope it stays that way! I'm wearing them around the house today and then onward to the multifaceted challenges of my everyday life. I think these are my favorites!!! I also like to wear my HOKAS with dresses. Both my hiking shoes and my Stinsons. These may be the best for that too. Great style. I got the colorful ones.

Ordered these to train in and use for Half Dome as I hated my old clunky hiking shoes. I ordered 1/2 size up from normal shoe size to account for thick socks and feet swelling. For my first use of these yesterday I tried a 6 mi dirt & gravel trail with moderate incline and I loved how light yet cushioned they felt. There is just one issue I'm afraid might become a problem on longer hikes - the top of the upper that wraps the heel is a thin, flimsier material that liked to fold in, doubling up on the back of my heel. Tried loosening and tightening straps but didn't seem to help. It was just a barely perceptible pressure but wondering if it has the potential to be a hot spot?

Amazing grip, very light, super-comfortable inside, highly adjustable ankle support - I love these boots! took them on a long hike straight out of box and regretted carrying the backup in my pack :) Those were perfect from the first step, no breaking in required.

First pair of trail shoes l have owned and am l impressed! The trails we hiked led to some big boulders that we had to navigate on and the traction of these shoes was awesome! They are comfortable from the get go. I bragged to my husband about them, now he's going to get a pair.

I love these hiking shoes! Lightweight yet sturdy. Super grippy while scrambling. Another excellent thoughtfully designed Hoka hiking product!

Very comfortable. Fit can be 'dialed in' to suit your needs. Sure footed on loose substrate. Long hikes just got easier and my feet are thankful for these great hiking boots.

I am having a little foot issue and was about to go on a hiking trip in Sedona...bought these to get me through the trip. They are beyond fabulous! My only issue was that I had to wear a higher sock than I usually wear as the ankle area was irritating. The higher sock solved that problem! Could have hiked all day...

I had reconstructive foot surgery on one foot and suffer from plantar fasciitis in the other. Hoka's have always been my shoe of choice for ultra running. The Arkali seemed perfect for my off-trail adventures. I took them out of the box and wore them 15-miles featuring boulder hopping and class 3-4 climbing. They were phenomenal. I plan to use them on a 10-day off-trail high route in a few weeks.

I use the boots for work as a delivery driver my feet haven't hurt or been wet since I began wearing them. Great shoe!

Easy to wear - even all day

My running conditions are not exactly typical. 99% of my miles are on hardcore offroad paths with mixed sized rocks and brush. I was running on some other hokas that I bought for the road and absolutely shredding through them, but I wanted another pair from hoka because I love the fit and design for my narrow feet. I also wanted to make sure to get a vegan shoe and voila I found these, the perfect hardcore trail runner, and honestly just all around sneaker that is also stylish?! I am in love, so much that I think I am going to get my housemate a pair for the holidays... These are an absolute win for me!

My first time trying Hoka and I love them. Super light and comfortable. The first week wearing them and I had no blisters and no uncomfortableness at all. I have not tried them on steeper terrain or uneven surfaces yet. I like that the sole seems a little more rugged too. I ordered my size, when I usually order a bigger size for hikers. But the reviews say runs big. So far, they fit well. Once I wear them in the heat and/ or hilly terrain, that will tell me if I got the wrong size since feet swell and move around in terrain. So far, I have only tried them in cooler weather on flat surfaces.

Immediately comfortable, seems to be good quality. Would buy again.

After a hiking accident resulting in a serious ankle fracture I was looking for new shoes with a better grip. These are light enough and provide the right amount of support for my ankle. Very pleased.

Excellent purchase! I could not be happier. I use them as part of my uniform at the Police Department. My job takes me outside most of the time. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on and felt like shoes I had already broken in. I really like the laces can be secured behind the Velcro closure at the top .

I hike daily and these shoes are not only comfortable, stable and love the style!! Definitely buying an extra pair!!
