Ran on ice and snow. I purchased . 7.5 I would say it runs slightly large. Usually I'm a 7.5 in brooks, they fit, I could have sized down a half size. Awesome for trail running.

At first, the fit might take some getting used to. These shoes hug your feet. For me, it's great to have a shoe that I can adjust as the day goes on. I am slowly getting over a nasty plantar fasciitis, so I'm very reluctant to try a new shoe. The strap across the back can be adjusted to prevent heel slippage. This shoe does not have as much "Cushiness" as maybe the Bondi, but it still keeps my heel happy. This is a sturdy sexy shoe!

I have several pairs of Hoka shoes including slides, hiking shoes, walking shoes and recovery shoes! My feet won't allow any other brand!

These hiking shoes are perfect. Light but supportive. Comfortable and rugged. On top of that, they look great!

I bought these shoes for advanced Class 2 and Clss 3 terrain and let me tell you, they have not disappointed! These shoes definitely enhanced traction while scrambling and on steep/looser terrain. In addition, I was able to basically wear them out of the box and they were already more comfortable than the boots I have worn for years. I will definitely be purchasing the Sky Kaha's next for easier, yet longer hikes. Love all my Hokas!

I ordered the Arkali hiking shoes and the Toas at the same time: to be able to compare, and I was open to keeping them both if I liked them equally. I messed up right off the bat by ordering an 8 in the Arkalis (correct) and an 8.5 in the Toas (too big.) So, I had to exchange the Toas for the smaller size. In the meantime, I had worn the Arkalis on a short trail walk and had really liked them. Today, I took them on a longer hike, and I LOVE them- so much so that I sent the Toas back without even really trying them. I don't think there's anything wrong with them, but I just love the Arkalis so much. They feel very sturdy on my feet (I overpronate and use orthotics, which fit in them perfectly.) They also have plenty of cushioning so I could sink my heels into downhill areas and didn't once irritate my arthritic knees (this is huge, lol.) The traction is amazing; I went across wet, slippery rocks with little issue. however, I did get them wet, but they dried quickly. I love the velcro on the top and the back. For the top, you can put the laces under to keep them out of the way, and the back allows a snugger fit that usually possible. I have narrow ankles/heels and often deal with some slipping back there, but not in these! In short, Hoka, you hit a home run with these bad boys, in my humble opinion!

I had the colorful version of these, and I got so many compliments on them! They feel so springy and cushioned it is amazing. I tried the black pair first, but they were too big and chunky to be all black for my taste. The heel is a little bit oversized to me, but no one else seem to notice. Absolutely love these I'm going to use them for all my hiking.

I am a landscape photographer and find myself in varied conditions from soft desert sand to boulders and steep inclines to get the right shot. I needed a shoe that had a great foot bed with traction so I can traverse different situations without slipping and falling. I also needed a travel shoe to wear on a plane, and then be able to get right to work without having to change. This shoe not only fits all of my needs, but has a great footbed and rolling action from toe to heel that I can wear on city streets and have my feet protected. I know this is a "hiking" shoe, but I suggest it for any person needing to travel, long walking, and possible off road hiking. Great for all!

Perfect fit for a long day on the trail. No tight spots on my foot. Love the toe box room and the support in the heel and ankle. This shoe was perfect for a technical trail and boulder hopping. The grip was great and the sturdy toe guard saved my feet a couple times. Can't say enough about the toe box room, my feet loved it. Not only was the shoe right for the feet and trail it also looks cool. Love the bright colors and the climbing shoe style look.

Real good on steep downhills with the lugs & shape of them on the bottom. Pretty comfortable shoe & true for my 7.5 size foot with enough width for me. The heel needs some work as it presses into my heel & in a long moderate hike it tires out my heel. Another thing is that there are gaps in the vibrum bottom such that as the lugs wear down those spaces will feel rocks. So I am asking Hoka to cover the whole bottom even if it adds another ounce. Look at all the pictures on Hoka & you will see this. It's a good hiking shoe so I'm keeping these.

Love everything about this shoe except its not even slightly waterproof. The neoprene tongue is comfy but collects every drop of rain that falls on top and soaks even thick socks. Light weight, stable and aggressive soles over rocks and roots. Impossible to turn ankles in.

I did not want to spend this much on shoes, but I was at my wit's end trying to find hiking shoes that were sturdy enough for uneven terrain, fit correctly, and wouldn't hurt after a few hours of hiking, and a review at outdoor gear lab convinced me to try these. I've been wearing Hokas for running for quite a few years, most recently the Stinson 4 (the Stinson 5 hurt).
I got my usual size and found that while the left shoe fit great, the right was tight across my forefoot. I'd never noticed a difference in my foot width before, but I decided I'd better exchange for a bigger size. I examined the shoe upon taking it off, and I could tell that there was indeed a difference in width of the material between the two shoes. However, the difference was very small, and would likely be unnoticeable by someone with narrower feet.
So I got the next half-size up--and out of the box the left shoe felt tighter than the right! But with an adjustment in lacing, I can't tell the difference. They're honestly a little roomier than I'd like, but I figure that allows for thick socks and feet swelling, plus the lacing and velcro allow for a customized fit.
They performed well on the short hike I have taken so far. One nice feature is a little "pocket" on the tongue for stuffing in the laces--kudos to the product designers on that one! I am not crazy about the colors, but as others have noted they are cuter in person.
Most importantly: these have the absolute *perfect* balance of a firm sole with just enough give. I never want to wear anything else on the trail.

Wearing Hokas is walking on pillows. I've loved every pair I've owned. They wear well and are well made. I highly recommend Hoka footwear.

I have to wear a thicker sock with these, otherwise there is too much movement of my foot, which causes pain and cramping of my feet. The lacing system is time consuming to get just right. Shoe feels a bit large. That being said, if it fits well and it is a high quality shoe. The ankle strap is strange and the laces stop right below the strap. I would have designed it with laces that go further up the foot. Not all that happy with them but have worn them so I will make them work.

I've had a hard time finding hiking shoes, especially vegan hiking shoes, that feel good on my feet. I have purchased several pears and returned them, including Topo and Merrell. While these cost more than I was hoping to pay, I am pleased with how they feel on my feet. I love the extra ankle velcro adjustment. Without that I think my feet would slip around in them. I have small ankles but need the room in the toe box these provide due to having bunions.

I was surprised I liked the ankle support. Pretty much runs true to size. I thought they felt big but once I inserted my ortho soles and used the ankle strap, it was fine.

I use these for hiking. It is very comfortable and supportive BUT...the back part of the shoe rubs on my foot right above my ankle, not sure what that part is called but even wearing socks that go past your ankle doesn't help. It can get painful depending on the amount of time you wear the shoes.

I did not have time to break these in and was worried a little after reading some reviews stating people had heel issues with the seaming of these shoes. They were comfortable, the tread was perfect especially since I was hiking rocky terrain with damp leaves on the ground. Really the only issue I had was they were extra roomy. Next time I will just wear thicker socks. These are a keeper.

I wanted to love this hiking bootit is so rare to find a hiking boot that is lightweight, comfortable, and isn't water proof (more breathability and faster drying). These are very well made and provide the right amount of support, cushion, and breathability. If it hadn't been for the neoprene tongue curving inward and rubbing the front of one of my legs, they would have been heavenly. They are a very cool looking boot with stellar grip/traction. I would absolutely buy these again if a new model that addresses the tongue is released. Also, I would still recommend trying this bootonly one boot gave me trouble with the tongue, so others may not experience this issue. These do run about half a size big. I wear an 8.5 in other brands of hiking boots, but an 8 in these would have been perfect.

This was one comfy shoe with excellent grip. Went 10 miles out of the box with no problems except for the ankle strap. Couldn't get that perfect fit around ankle. I changed these for the speed goat 3 and they are perfect!!!!!!!
