I have had this shoe in the past and loved it but this particular pair seems to be wearing much quicker than the other.

I run in Bondi 7 shoes. I bought these Carbon X as a back-up pair when they were on sale. They are just ok. I play tennis in them, and walk, but they don't have nearly the cushioning of the Bondi for running.

The shoes look great and fit nicely. Only reason I gave 3 stars is because I own other Hoka shoes and they feel amazing when I walk. This pair is not something you want to wear if you are on your feet for long periods of time.

I'm 150-lbs, walk ~45 miles per week on paved roads. I would give this shoe a 5-star rating for comfort. I've never had a more comfortable shoe. EVER. However, after 45-miles the sole was worn flat in spots. It was very disappointing. I don't understand the reviewers saying they've run hundreds of miles in them. I returned them and am in a Clifton 8 which doesn't hold a candle to the comfort of the Carbon X. I also LOVED the generous the toe box.

I can't say it is the shoes themselves. I bought these specifically for cushioning and do not notice them to be different than others.

I love the HOKA shoe.... just not this one. The bottom is shredding off. As I walk you can see the scraggly ends on the bottom and see the shredding.

Fit well and comfortable but sole wore out within two weeks after average wear. Too expensive for such a low use life.

I will unfortunately have to return these shoes - they are not deep enough for my orthopedic inserts. The shoes are so light weight - I wish I could wear them.

I believe that these shoes would have been perfect, except for the fact that the shoe is not deep enough for my orthotic inserts. The shoes are so light - very disappointed they would not work for me.

I loved these shoes but I only wore them for 3 months and the fabric that connects the shoe to the sole already ripped and I can't wear them anymore. I don't know if the pair I got was defective but I only got about 90 miles on them before the shoes broke and became unwearable. Pretty terrible quality with regards to the shoe fabric if it rips so fast with minimal mileage on them.

I have another HOKA pair that fits. However, this style runs too large. I would recommend to a friend only if they get a half size smaller.

The shoes felt great except they wore down very quickly. I’ve run in Hokas for a couple of years now and the treads on these wore off quicker than any other pair I’ve had. The style and feel was good but I give them lower marks for their lack of durability.

I have to say I loved this product of your brand, however my ankles didn't. My biggest fear with running are my knees and my ankles. In comparison to running in a different brand with the Hoka's, it didn't have enough ankle support especially with being a noticeably heavier than most Hoka shoes. But I love the fit, the style ,and the amount of cushioning on the sole.

I liked these at first. They have firm padding and I liked the rocker bottom sole. The shoes are very lightweight and fit well. However, I do a lot of running on the treadmill when it's very hot, or cold and snowy. I was getting serious and painful static electric shocks when I wore these on the treadmill. My machine is new, just a few months old and the weather was high humidity ( Summer). I changed my clothes for natural fiber, wiped the shoes and the treadmill with dryer sheets, even tried spitzing with water. ZAP! Over and over. Ouch! I had to return these, I couldn't risk damage to my machine if I used the touch screen and it was no fun to get zapped multiple times per run. Never had this issue with any other shoes, hope it never happens again! If you only run outside or on a track, they're good, well made shoes. But if you use a machine, be careful of the static electricity.

I love the stiffness when I push off and I really do feel like the shoes propel me forward. However, I also feel like the toe box is a little too narrow for me and the top of my foot is a little scrunched. I don't have wide feet, but I've gotten used to a wider toe box and my feet do feel scrunched - even though these are definitely the right length for my feet. I might buy these again, but I'm not sure yet.

Shoes are light, springy and feel as good as they look. Seem to be wearing out fast but I am saving these for half and full marathons so will rotate with my regular training shoes...Bondis!

I bought these for triathlons but the tongue that isn't one piece with the shoe makes it crunch up when putting it on. Also, too soft squishy heel opening crunches down so it's hard to transition quickly in a triathlon. Love the rebound for energy savings so please fix it up for next model!

Love the shoe just wish the sole was more durable. I have nerve damage/foot drop and the CARBON X has given me my mobility back. The carbon plate allows me to "rock" through the running motion and not trip over my toes near as much. The downside is the light weight foam sole only lasts me a month at best (I log 50+ miles a week).

It was my first Hoka purchase, and instantly I fell in love. Soft enough to be comfortable, but not too soft, and good out of the box for longer miles. However, I was only able to get about 200 miles out of them before they wrecked my legs. I finished a recovery week completely worn out and couldn't figure out why - they I realized I had worn through all the way to the carbon plate on these (significantly, so it had been some time that I'd been running like this). I'm 5'4" and 115 pounds, so it's rare (actually it has never happened to me!) for me to wear through something like this. I'll likely purchase them again for my upcoming marathon (begrudgingly - it's a lot of money to spend on just race shoes!) but I thought I had to share. Would I recommend these to a friend? Maybe, if they're trying to hit a specific time standard in a race. Otherwise, they may not be worth the investment. If you decide to shell out for these, save them as race shoes (and Hoka - maybe advertise these as a racing shoe so that folks know they're not a daily trainer!).
