At first it felt very springy like I just wanted to bound forward. Then lost that feel as I wore it. Very light and fast. Not sure I trust it on long runs yet. I hate wearing socks and the tongue is too short and rubs the instep raw. It curls downward and feels like a rope is lining the tongue edge. In a triathlon it was very difficult to put on. Tongue pushed inside and the heel kept collapsing. Lost valuable T2 time. Now it's only a short training shoe, no triathlons.

I am an avid Hoka user. I have been using the Clifton and Bondi over the past couple of years.
I ordered it without having the opportunity to try it as I live in Dubai where I am probably the only Hoka wearer!
I did two runs of 10km and 17km. I normally land on my front foot when running but I felt that the Carbon x was forcing me to land on my heels. I also felt pain on my knees which I never felt with The Cliftons and the Bondi.
As I said I wished I liked but it was not to be. I will order Clifton 6 instead.

Faster than my normal racing shoes but already sprained an ankle in them -- little upper support.

Above describes my impression. A little small and narrow to my foot. Ordered the same size as other shoes.

I'm not thrilled with the very cheap laces and the tongue that doesn't give you any padding in it.

The shoes just feel different: the landing, the rebound, the gate. Dropped down a half size compared to other brands because the 12s were too long. Unfortunately, this made the shoes too narrow. It felt like the side of my foot was stepping on a ridge around the some of the shoe. I really wanted to like these, but ultimately I knew they would destroy my feet on longer runs.

I was really excited about Trying These shoes especially with the carbon fiber plate. However they did not have the energy return or the comfort that I got from Similar Nike with the carbon fiber plate.

I really enjoyed running in these, but they have lasted fewer miles than any pair of running shoes I've purchased in the last 15 years. The upper is ripping after 300 or so miles. Definitely not worth the money with such a poorly made upper. Usually the cushioning will break down or wear long before the upper, but not in these HOKAs.

I recently bought a pair of Cliftons 7. I had used them literally 4 times. Yesterday I went for a run and they got wet. I needed them ready for today so I put them in the dryer (as I always do with my sneakers). They got completely destroyed. They got deformed and the sole ripped off. This came as a shocker since as I said, I have always dried my running shoes there. I looked up and there is no warning against it. Is there something I can do??? These are not cheap running shoes and they were new. I've got some photos if you need. These were my 5th pair....
Thank you,
Alex

I like Hoka shoes however, the Carbon X Nimbus Cloud just isn't what I was expecting. The shoe has a rocking action mid sole and causes issues with my balance due to my knee replacements. They're very comfortable but I'm afraid they will find the back of the closet. My legs are very tired after wearing the shoes for just a short period of time. For those that run extensively they would be great but for those of us that have knee issues, not so good.

Based upon Hoka's reputation of a soft ride, I was taken aback by how stiff the sneaker ran. I was expecting a more cushioned feel.

Ran about 100 miles in 3 months and was relatively happy with the shoes. But then yesterday in the middle of the run mesh was completely torn apart.

I usually wear a 10.5 regular width, this one was too narrow. Love the look though.

They are great for speed.. not as great cushion feeling than Bondi and Clifton.. but great feeling.. the only problem.is the half point smaller they are.. and that is a big problem.on a long run!!!..
Just one run.. but they appears to not last long!

1) Hoka's 30-day guarantee is fantastic and why I buy through their website.
2) the shoe is a good first step but there is room for improvement.
a) It runs a half size too big, an issue I've not had with several other Hoka models.
b) Although the upper is lightweight the lacing system doesn't allow for the foot to feel secure in the shoe. The upper is also quite flimsy.
c) minimal tread but definitely better than some debut models from Hoka (eg Tracer). Anything other than dry, flat surfaces would pose an issue.

I've been a devoted Hoka runner for years. I've easily ran between 1500-2000 miles a year in countless pairs of Cliftons. When I heard about the Carbons I was super excited. I bought them to wear in my upcoming marathon. Sadly near the end my second run in them (speed work with a total of 7 miles) the insole started to slip out. I thought maybe it was a fluke and ran in them the next day, same thing. I ended up returning them. I know this is the first go around with this shoe and I'll be waiting for the new and improved version.

Spent around 200 bucks on these shoes, not even after 2 miles got terrible arch blisters, Im a big time runner and never had this issue with brooks, Nike, or my new balances, if you don't mind wrapping your feet in duck tape before every run they maybe manageable.
