Overall, I like the shoe and will recommend. However, it hasn't blown me away. Given that I purchased the 'outdated' version, there may be some hope with the new Carbon X2. If you are comfy in narrow toe box fix, this is highly recommended. A minor qualm - I would have liked the colors to be as bright as they were advertised and not a pale(ish) blue... that was a bit of a downer as well.

Very light. Good construction . Different than other Hoka I own. (Bondi 7) Little harder to get heel into shoe given soft back. Excellent cushioning. Buy a little larger 1/2 size up.

comparing these to Clifton for example, they're definitely faster but also stiffer. my forefoot begins to ache a bit on long runs, and I did experience some blistering and bleeding on my achilles once. since the Carbon X2 is softer and also has a flared out heel tab, I'm sure both of these issues will be resolved when I make the switch to those. still love them and still going to run them to the ground before getting the X2

Really amazing feel of support. Can really feel the carbon as stiff support. Really gives stability when I lack it from hip dysplasia. Might be another but it's hard to get into.

This product is great. The only thing is the price tag. If you have time please do your research and find something similar. If your kids or yourself will be using these does for daily sports they will only last you a good 4-6 months. Not worth the price.

This is my second pair of carbon shoes. They feel great but having used the carbon x-spe. Which seemed to have a better upper to hold your foot from rolling over. Other than that the price is right and has the same performance.

The shoes are very hard to get on. If u don't have a shoe horn you will be in trouble. Once on, they are light and comfortable

The miles pass by relatively effortlessly in the Carbon X's. I'm a distance runner logging 7-10 miles a day. Normally I don't have a width issues but in these I think I need a wide. The narrow toe box while not causing any real issues does bring some slight discomfort as the miles pile on. Overall I would still highly recommend them and would buy them again.

They were a little bit long length-wise but have a great rocker board to propel forward and are great for pavement workouts.

These are probably my favorite running shoe's I've owned. But, when I first starting running with them, I was experiencing shooting pain in my knees. I had to slightly change my gate and I got used to them within a week or two. Also, the soles are very soft and wore down quickly. Rocks along the road would often get stuck in the bottom. I also had a problem with the shoe laces becoming untied. I just double knot them and it's fine, but that's a problem I've never had an issue with while using other shoes. I know I could just replace the laces, but for the price of the shoe, I feel that I shouldn't have it.
The shoe's upper mesh is amazing and the softest I've ever felt. It's a very comfortable feel. Additionally, the responsiveness is as-advertised.
I'd recommend this shoe for shorter distances. I'm a marathon/ultra-marathon runner and these shoes didn't last more than a couple months in my shoe rotation. I got about 150 miles out of them before the soles started to break down.

The only issue I have with this shoe is that when I run fast I can feel the crease where the shoe folds beneath the ball of my foot. You can even see the crease in the shoe insert/ sock liner. It hasn't caused a hotspot though, or at least not yet. I'll update my review if this changes with longer runs.
Other than that, the shoe works as advertised. It definitely makes running fast easier, and it somehow solved my ankle pain. I normally run in Nike Pegasus as a daily trainer, but I've developed pain in both ankles within the past 3 months. Every time I have ran in the Hoka Carbon X I have had ZERO pain. These are very comfortable all around and I love the extra room in the toe box. These shoes are a little pricey for daily trainers, but excellent for races or time trials. I'm also sold on this brand now and will look to replace my Pegs with a Clifton for my daily trainer.

I run this shoe for workouts and races, managed to get around 40 miles on them so far.
The good: Metarocker functions very well, paired with the carbon plate there's a lot of snap and response. Definitely a nice feeling after easy days with less techs shoes. The fit is roomy (trued in both an 11.5 and a 12 in store and was def a 12 despite being an 11.5 in both my Rincons and Torrents.) I was worried that my heel was sliding around while walking but when I get into a workout I don't feel any slippage.
The bad: As mentioned the fit is roomy, I can feel myself slide around at low speeds if I don't lace them up just right. I wouldn't recommend them for anything technical. All my runs in them are tempos around a 1.5 mile park loop.
Overall I like these shoes. The roomy nature allows my feet to spread out when I really push the pace. Best to use them for what they're designed for and shoot for speed.

Shoes feel great but take your time breaking them in. I think I got shin splints from not being used to running in that type of shoe.

Really great shoe. Fast. Bouncy. Definitely for mid foot striking. For reference, I log 50km a week at a threshold of 4:15 and recovery of 5:30. You'll want this in your rotation, however, you will not want to run it everyday. The carbon plate reverberates some of the foot strike shock to the hips and glutes. You'll be soar if you run it daily. Definitely a threshold shoe. The lifespan is questionable a little, although it is a race shoe. What happens is as you beat the mid foot, the carbon plate presses constantly against the bottom ply of foam to the point where after 200km if pressing the sole under the forefoot, you'll feel like a 1 or 2 mm space between bottom foam and plate. I love this shoe. But I've had to respect it. I want to run it everyday as I'm springy in it but my running longevity knows it has a place in the rotation and is not a daily driver.

I use the Carbon X mostly for long runs and occasionally for short runs with a lot of hard concrete. This is a very fast shoe and has excellent cushioning. The shoe has a snug fit that seems to comfortably hold your foot in place. Unfortunately, that snug fit can make it somewhat frustrating to get your heel in. However, once you get your foot into the shoe, it is a very smooth run. You can definitely feel the rocker effect in the sole.
Minor complaints: the tongue is slightly uncomfortable and takes little adjustment to get in place. The laces are cheap and somewhat flimsy (easy fix).
