i like the speedcross 5 gore tex. they are rain prof and are comfortable. if you leave in a city that rains the saloman gore-tex is the way to go.

Overall- I love these shoes. They fit well and gave me a great deal of arch/feet support. They were great for running off-road and on snowy/icy paths (good grip!). I took one star off because they were not very good with keeping my toes warm on cold days (they would be ok up to -10C). I can see myself using these shoes all year long- for hiking/running.

exceptional build quality compared to most other brands. less breathable fabric as more sealed and waterproof but makes for smellier shoes! Tread is the best with exceptional grip, but wearing fast considering relatively low intensity of training, at up to no more than 25km per week. Very waterproof compared to other makes but external seals showing wear at under 12 months old.

I LOVE SALOMON SHOES! The only reason I didn't give this shoe 5 stars is I believe you have two last sizes and it didn't specify wide. When your shoes came in one with they were a perfect fit now I have to be careful and specify wide.

Pros: The traction is excellent, no sliding when going up or downhill. It has great foot protection from rocks underneath. Laces are well designed, and tuck nicely. They are light. Cons: The heel to toe ratio is too high. It forces me to slightly change my running form and most importantly it makes me more vulnerable to rolling my ankle going down hill (happened on my first run in them). My feet sweat a little more in these shoes but thats partly because it does well to keep dirt and dust from getting in. I recommend getting some good blister free socks for them. Overall I like them for hikes because they are lighter than a boot but still offer the rock protection and I like them when I go trail running, I just slow down going down hill now.

Fantastic for running my local trails. I was doing bambi impressions in my old shoes these grip brilliantly. However those of us with wider feet will doing them a little cramped. Please do wider versions

The shoes are snug, elevated, sturdy and they grip the ice. All good. To the bad, they are difficult to put on owing to the nature of the tongue. It should be longer and easier to grip when putting on the shoe. Still, the shoe is a big success and I am happy to use them.

Every single one of my shoes is a size 9 so I bought these shoes in size 9. However, the fit is too small. I can get it but it is tight and I can feel it when running with toes right up against the shoe. Sadly, once you've worn the shoes you can't return. So my suggestion is to go at least 0.5 or 1 size higher. Other than that, the shoes are great for the trails. Good grip and waterproof.

Brilliant shoes but too small. I am always a size 9 and ordered a size 9 but my shoes delivered are too small. I have tried wearing them now for a few weeks to see how I get on but they are just too small.

I must have bought these over a year ago now, and only really run in the winter when bike riding is reduced, in the grand scheme of things, light use. My issue is the inner heel, this is the second pair where the inner of the heel of the shoe has just disintegrated, and on the latest Gore Tex pair this has left a very uncomfortable area that is now causing blisters. I have effected my own remedial repairs so I can continue to use the shoe, as they have so much life left in them - but the fact this has now happened on two pairs with minimal use means I now have no loyalty to Salomon and will look else where for my next shoe.

Purchased and received a pair of Speed Cross 5 GTX recently and this pair is no where as comfortable as the previous pair. Same size and style as what I have had, but this pair is much tighter in the toe box, the arch support is higher and longer than in the previous pair (and the other 5-6 pair of Salomon's I have owned or still own). Initially I thought those issues would improve. They have not after regular use over the last 4-5 weeks. I waited for these to come back in my size (12.5 US) as I have had such good experience with them. I do regret waiting and also purchasing these shoes. Fit consistency has been an issue with the 12.5 and 13 sizes I have owned from Salomon. It's almost as if in recent years there is no standard production method any longer. Or, too many new products resulting in slipping quality control.

These shoes are great and are completely waterproof. However, they are not for the road. Don't even step foot on a road or wear them causally the sole can not handle the road. I have a trail a mile away that I run to on the road. That's 2 miles of road running in my roughly 5 mile run. After almost a year the shoe has almost no sole. I love these shoes I just wish Salomon would make them with a much more durable sole.

I love these shoes.I've had several pairs. Butthe tongues are a completely different size to each other.when you pull on the tongue,the front of the shoe all deforms

They are great shoes with a lot of traction and they look really good. But for me, they are way too narrow. So much that my feet hurt after couple of hours, I cannot wear them. I thought they would get more loose after some time but they did not. That also prevented me to return them. So, now I have expensive shoes at home that I can only take for very short runs :/ My female friends generally like them but for guys, not so much. And I don;t have large or wide feet. I think I am an average. I have had several pairs of XA Pro over the past 10 years and I love them. Just wanted something lighter but the Speedcross unfortunately is not it. Maybe, Salomon should make a wide version.

Love this shoe. Am on my sixth pair. However, ordered this color online direct versus trying in store. Looks much better online. Very odd color.
