My review is mixed. I too have worn these particular shoes for years. I personally like the fact that when you take out the removeable insole the shoe bottom is soft. I need the extra cushioning. However the top of the shoe has been lowered and when I put in my custom insert, it doesn't take long for my toes to meet the top of the shoe and begin to chafe. I also feel the material is plastic feeling. Over all disappointing. I like the suede shoe better. It is the 1st time I've tried them.
I'd also recommend:
None really.

I have been wearing Brooks Addiction Walkers for 12 years and am disappointed they have been discontinued. I have had two hip replacements, one knee replacement, and a drop foot due to nerve damage. I wear full orthotics (specifically prescribed) and these are the only shoes that provide sufficient support. I felt I had no other alternative than to order the Addiction Walker 2. I ordered my regular size and after inserting my orthotics, it is short in the toe box, so I am ordering a half size up and hope they fit. These shoes do no feel as supportive as its predecessor. I am disappointed and hate to settle, but feel I have no other alternative.

I'm not a runner. I just have very disagreeable, tough-to-size, painful feet. After going trying and failing with several brands recently, I found these and I like them a lot. I will definitely be buying more.

These are about the 10th pair of this shoe that I have owned. Best supportive walking shoe ever. My feet stay aligned. Please don't stop making them!!

I am not a runner, rather in need of a supportive shoe after suffering with pain in my heels. The Brooks Addiction Walker was recommended to me many years ago and I will never buy another shoe. Love the support they give.

Love the width of the shoe, comfortable for work I stand more than 8 hours at work. I only wish for more cushion insole. To be more comfortable.

Best walking shoes! My Podiatrist told me that she couldn't ask me to wear any better shoes! I'm glad that they changed the material of the tongue! The prior pair had a leather tongue and it would rub on the top of the shoe and make a disgusting sound! I wear the noisy shoes as house slippers!

I love my shoes. I bought these when I worked. They helped me get through 12 hour shifts. Now I?m retired and I buy them for my everyday use. I feel very comfortable and stable wearing them and they look so nice too.

I got these shoes because I walk 6-8 miles and am standing for around 12 hours a day at my job, and my feet were aching at the end of my shift. These shoes did the trick and now my feet don?t hurt, and I can just focus on doing my work! I also got them in white since I?m a nurse, and that way I can use bleach wipes on them before I leave the hospital. Highly recommend!

LOVE these shoes...so comfortable. Really glad that I decided to try them. These shoes are a game changer for my walking program. I ordered my usual size. 10W women?s - fit perfectly.

Don't know exactly why, but prefer the fit and feel of the original Addiction Walker to the Addiction walker 2...my foot doesn't feel quite the same level of support and the heel seems to slip a bit. In all fairness I have only worn them twice for walking since purchase, but noticed right off the bat.

I liked how it felt like there was an arch in it. Most shoes feel as if the arch is squishy and or not even there. When i got these, I had just had foot surgery and was able to wear regular shoes for the first time. The shoes are very comfortable and they have held their arch and shape so well since I?ve gotten them. I feel like Frankenstein in them though bc of the sole on them but they have done so well for my feet, I?m okay with it. I highly suggest these shoes for a runner that now has to walk like me.

BOTH PAIR OF SHOES FIT PERFECTLY. HOWEVER, THE SHOESTRING MODEL IS TOO DIFFICULT FOR ME TO ADJUST AND TIE NOW.

I would have purchased this shoe if the shoestrings weren't difficult to adjust and tie.

The shoe is perfect. It keeps my left ankle from rolling out even though it has a severed nerve from when I broke it. And I can use my custom orthotics inside. The only problem is the non-skid sole, which tends to pick up tiny rocks and snow melting crystals in its grooves and then drop them onto the hardwood floor indoors. So I have two identical pairs, one to wear inside and the other to wear outside.
