I have run in the Pure Grit since they came out about 10 years ago. Loved the pure grit 6. I bought 6 pairs and ran through all of them. Then I tried on the 8s. The heel is incredibly loose. Unrunnable. I tried a different size, too loose. I tried running in thick ski socks, still too loose are really sweaty feet. I tried running with out socks thinking skin would provide more friction, nope still too loose. I love the idea of making the shoes lighter but I think I have worn flip flop sandels with less heel slippage than these shoes. Thank you for making the Catamount so I could still run in Brooks!

Sorry guys, this one wasn't great. I was really excited to try this trail shoe, because I love my Brooks road shoes. Unfortunately after only my first trail run in these (6 miles) I noticed bits of the lugs were already starting to come off. I too had problems with the heel feeling really loose. After one run, I knew they weren't gonna be worth it and returned to Brooks. Thank heavens for that great warranty!

I have been buying brooks for years and I am thoroughly disappointed with these. They dont fit the same, they loosen up on their own, they dont feel stable, the list goes on and on. These may just be the worst trail shoe I have ever worn.
