I have flatter than pancake feet and am over pronated beyond belief. So I have been wearing the Beast for the last few years with a custom orthotic as well. But with the new Beast 20, I wasn't sure if it would have the same support since there were some changes. I dedided to try the Addiction 14 instead. I have zero complaints. They are very comfortable and seem to have even more room for my custom orthotic than the previous years Beast and also has Brooks maxium support. I walk several times a day and also wear these in the weight room. They help keep my lower body aligned when squatting so that sure helps. I'll probably stick with these over the Beast in the future.

I've been wearing Brooks Addiction since the Addiction 11, and normally have ordered the Addiction a half-size larger than my regular walking shoes due to their snug fit. (I'm a 12-B in New Balance walking shoes, but have been a 12.5-B in the Brooks Addiction.)
That half-size-up approach also worked well for the Addiction 12 and the Addiction 13, but not for the Addiction 14. Its footbed seems longer at the same size as the 11/12/13. My test, aside from noticing that my heel was slipping up more than in the earlier models, was to slide my orthotic around inside the 14. There's definitely more room for the orthotic insert front-to-back in the 14 than in the 13.
I've exchanged the Addiction 14 for one a half-size smaller, which should be about right. Excellent service on the advance exchange from Zappos, too.

Really like shoe. It has felt great the past 2 weeks. But I have flat feet and pronate my foot wearing down back lateral edge. Photos show right shoe with an area of tread worn down close to 50%. Once I wear the tread down close to the white cushion, my knee will start hurting. Am concerned this won't be too many weeks from now. I am a causal runner, running 2-4 miles per run 3-5 times weekly. Would like the shoe to last for more than 2-3 months.

Toe box has been enlarged which is a welcomed change. Feels great, lots of room and still has support that's needed.

I liked the shoe very much. However, after about 4 mos, the shoe fabric seemed to stretch and the fit became sloppy. Then, about a month later, the fabric began to unravel in the toe box and heel areas. This was very surprising because I neither used them for running/hiking nor abused the shoe in any way.

Overall the shoe is a good fit. I bought the size 13- 4E for extra wide. This can be a 5 star rating, only if the company can start making bolder colors for people with wider feet. Because I need a 4E width, doesn't mean Im out of shape, or elderly. Brooks company needs to step up and start making all sizes of your shoes in all colors. If you make them, we will buy them.

I was looking for a replacement of the beast 18 and this is almost like it if not BETTER!
I have plantar fasciitis and these make me feel like I'm jogging on pillows, I do not feel any pain what so ever! I am so impressed that I am going to buy a second pair!
I hope these never get discontinued.
Highly satisfied customer and would recommend anyone to try it out! : )

I am an 84 yr old male who walks for exercise. When looking for walking shoes several years ago, it was suggested that I look at trail running shoes. After looking for a while, I chose the Addiction model for my wide 4E feet. They are the most surefooted, comfortable walking shoes I have worn.

BEAST WEARERS REJOICE! THERE IS ANOTHER OPTION WHEN BROOKS SCREWS UP THE BEAST! I have been wearing Beasts for years. Maybe 15+ years now. I wear sneakers every day, almost all day, am extremely active and have always been big, from 340++ when I played football to 280 over the last year or so. Beasts become something you rely on. It is almost a cult thing for people who need them. And as any regular Beast wearer knows...every couple generations, Brooks puts out a turkey of a Beast. They will make an awesome model, then make a horrible one...then back to awesome. Well...as we all know, the 18 was AWESOME and the new one STINKS!!! All is not lost - the Addiction 14 is almost like a hybrid between a really old good model of the Beast...and a Beast Jr. if they ever made one. It feels familiar and supportive as heck. It is not stupid soft and squirmy like the latest Adrenaline. Pronators will be secure. Does it look cool? Ehh. Do the outer materials seem as durable as one of the good Beast models? Ehh. But it is good enough until Brooks comes out with a Beast 22 or whatever and fixes their terrible mistake of the current shoe. Hopefully. Definitely am pleased with this basic Addiction 14!

I have major metatarsal injury in both feet and require orthotics. For the past 4 months I have developed a bunion in my right foot. I don’t like the style at all BUT THE SHOE IS THE ONLY ONE I CAN WEAR WITH NO PAIN. The bottom is strong (which is good for metatarsal injury) and the shoe is wide enough to help with the bunion. I highly recommend it.

I uses these shoes exclusively on our new Nordic Track incline treadmill. (Not wearing the shoes on the street keeps the tread cleaner.) The shoes are very supportive and comfortable on all of the incline settings, varying from -6% to 40%. I do a combination of trainer-led hikes and custom hikes we programmed into the treadmill. Between hot weather and smoky skies, we're using the treadmill a lot, so I appreciate the new shoes.

Comfortable shoe for people with flat feet. The extra width and very open toe box are a great combination. I bought two pairs. I’ll keep looking for additional color combinations.

First day wearing it to work...I'm a RN and on my feet almost all shift. This is my 2nd pair of Brooks and I chose them because they are fantastic shoes! So comfortable & supportive. When these wear out, I'll be back!

Fit and size are right on, reasonable arch support, very conservative style. Wish shoe had gel or some better overall cushion. I definitely would not use this shoe for running, especially on a trail.
I'd also recommend:
I've worn Asics for years, but they no longer offer a narrow heel.

I've been wearing my new pair of Addiction 14 shoes for more than a month now, and find them to be a perfect mix of support and cushioning. Like a lot of older guys I have issues with foot pain and these Addiction 14s are now my favorite shoes.
I plan to buy another pair in the other color option.

Great comfort and quality. The medium to high arch is still a little low for me so I added an insert for a bit more height. I had an appointment with the podiatrist to deal with foot pain and cancelled after wearing these for a few days. I use for brisk walks usually with hills for cardio. I have been wearing another brand for years as few make a 4E width. Their quality dropped so I thought I would give Brooks a try. I'm glad I did. Also bought Adrenaline that works well with my high arch orthotic.

These shoes run a bit narrow but they will relax in a few months. The other pairs I have gotten do this also.
not a problem

I wear a size 13 in all shoes, even other brooks styles, and this shoe was way too big. I returned the 13 for a 12 with Zappos awesome customer service it was easy. Going down a full size is a little snug but it works for me. I definitely recommend going down half a size for sure.

I was recommended to this shoe by my physical therapist. Now I know why. The heel box is firm, so the shoe hugs my foot nicely. It’s a good walking as well as running shoe.

Great shoe. Very comfortable. I need a wide shoe and one that supports well. It delivers. I've been wearing the Addiction from Brooks for years now and I am very satisfied.

These are my first Brooks shoes and I admit, they are wonderful walking shoes. Traditionally I'm an ASICS or Nike guy but these are wonderful walking shoes! My feet don't feel tired after our 8 mile daily walks like if I used my other shoes. Very good shoes and I'll buy more!

I love this shoe. It is my everyday wear for work. It's not my first pair of them. The only issue I have with them is an issue with my buying ignorance. I have many other Brooks running shoes. I've always bought "normal D" width. With this shoe I bought "medium D" width and apparently this shoe is designed a bit differently so they are a little more snug at the ball of my feet than I would like. During my afternoon tour of my building I have some numbing of my little toes on each foot. When I purchase my next pair for work I will for sure get the wide version. Again this is not a knock on the shoe brand, Brooks shoes are amazing! This is just my lack of research rearing it's ugliness.

Just to add to my earlier review. I used to buy bothing but Brooks for years but they've gone downhill the last few years. The fit and quality is not what it used to be. The sizes tend to run very small and the fabric and material seem cheap and brittle. I'm gonna try some other company for awhile.
