Not for overpronators! I had worn the 1340's for years- they are perfect, especially since I also wear a 2E width. So hard to find shoes. The length and toe box of this shoe is good, but they don't correct for severe overpronation like the 1340's. I'm so disappointed.

These shoes are very problematic. I had a most unusual experience when trying them on. My right foot only pronates because of prior injuries. I ordered this NB 1540v3 because it is recommended for overpronation. From the shoe description: "Designed for the severe overpronator who requires a combination of maximum stability and cushioning." When I tried these shoes, my right foot has never pronated as severely as walking in them. It seemed as if the shoe was designed to cause severe pronation. I can only assume that I received a defective pair. I put back on the Skechers "Downtown" platform sneakers, which I purchased in 2016, that I had been wearing. They are far superior for preventing pronation because of the platform sole and high tops keeping the ankle stable. I'm still confused about this 1540v3 shoe. I'd read so many fine reviews that I was expecting a very different result.

These shoes are comfortable but horribly noisey. They are the 2nd pair of NB that I have that I can not wear to work (an elementary school.) This pair is embarrassing to wear in public. I only wore them in school a couple of times when I first bought them. When I began to wear them later in the summer it became apparent that I would not be able to wear them in school (or even to the gym) because of the squeaking. They are an awfully expensive pair of gardening shoes.

These are the most uncomfortable New Balance shoes I have ever owned. I wish that I had returned them before I wore them. I bought Dr. Scholl's insoles, which helped with the lack of cushioning inside the shoe, but there's nothing to do about the stiffness of the outer sole, which is so hard that I feel like I'm walking in dress shoes.

Just uncomfortable for me. But maybe fine for someone who doesn’t have foot pain,

So very disappointed with these. Again. The moment I stood up, the sneaker heels sunk in and I had zero support. It was like walking on jello. I have better support in my year old Brooks then this brand new pair. This is the second style I’ve had to return for having zero support.

I have worn many New Balance shoes in past. These are by far the cheapest made shoes. Terribly uncomfortable arch support. If I could I would return them but threw the box and tags out as I always had faith in NB quality.

Size is WRONG. New Balance’s Double Wide 2E has been made narrower and therefore I have to return these damn things.

If the 1540's are supposed to replace the 1260's I do not like them at all. I prefer a wide toe box, fitted shank and narrow heel cup. I wear an 8 narrow. The overall fit does not meet my needs and weirdly, the mesh creases across my big toe on my right foot which is uncomfortable.

I wore these a few times at school. They're a bit stiff but offer great stabity. I didn't wear them again until 3 weeks ago on a trip to CO. They have become the most horribly squeaky shoes. The 2nd pair of NB to do this. My 590's are the same.Because of this issue I would not recommend them.

I have been wearing the 1540 v2 for years and loved them. Since NB no longer makes them I decided to try the.v3. I was extremely disappointed, so much so that I went through the hassle of returning them. The inside felt hard and uncomfortable and nothing like the feeling of walking on a cloud the v2 had.

I have worn this style exclusively for years but the V3 is not nearly as comfortable as the prior models. I am quite disappointed as I relied on the support and comfort of the 1540 and find the V3 practically unwearable.

The fit was ok with my orthotics however I do not understand how anyone can walk in these shoes!!!! They are as hard as a rock on the bottom. It is like walking on cement blocks. Not worth the price at all. New Balance really has gone downhill these past years. The tongue on these shoes is way too short and the laces are ridiculous as they do not stay tied, I am not sure what they are made of but really silly design all around with this shoe. Right now I am wearing them still because I can keep them on for a few hours around the house but good luck trying to take a walk in them!!! I hate them but I paid so much for them and I can not return them so I wear them around the house only. I wish shoe makers would stop trying to reinvent the wheel, doesn't work.

I've purchased this style many times. I was disappointed this time because I did not feel the arch support that I would normally feel. My feet are not happy with this recent purchase.

They seem comfortable but in two months I will be 84 years old. The last pair of NB shoes that I bought many, many years ago, I loved those shoes and they looked just like new but the soles disintegrated. Now do these shoes look like I could go to the doctor's or shopping?????? I'll probably give them away and never buy this brand again.

I wish I could send these shoes back to Zappos. They are really awful shoes. I've worn them for about a week now and they are so uncomfortable on my feet that I will never order a pair of New Balance again. Really awful shoes. Buy at your own risk.

I had total ankle replacement surgery so looking for something to stabilize my ankle. Wearing this shoe around on the carpet seem to be OK until I went out the first time to a restaurant and it was so slippery that I thought I was gonna fall I had to have someone help me get out the door so I'm just not sure that it's going to work for me I have about seven or eight pairs of new balance shoes but they are the 811 and 814 they are very comfortable they are wonderful but they're just not real stabilizing for my ankle is why I looked into something else for this recovery period I love New Balance just maybe not the rollbar

Loved and worn New Balance for many years. All of a sudden they make the tongue about 3/4 “ shorter. Now ankle rubs on lower front of ankle, leaving sores in same area. Are they trying to save $$ by decreasing amount of material? No idea. Very unhappy

A total disaster. I cannot believe this is New Balance. In the last two months I have ordered three pairs of new balance walking shoes only to return them. The shoes feel like boxes on my feet. They are hard and extremely uncomfortable. I have been so use to ordering the New Balance Walking shoes for years, the shoes always was exactly what I wanted. My question to New Balance is how was this allowed to happen? I paid more for these walkers hoping I could get the level of comfort I am use to. Never again!

I have worn this shoe style in 1540V2 for several years. They fit like a dream. I was hoping that it would be similar. However, this shoe felt much narrower. I will be returning the shoes. So disappointed. :(

These are the worst NB shoes ever purchased. They are heavy & even sound clunky with every step. The cushioning is minimal and even with the NB inserts, my feet hurt after I wear these shoes. Very disappointed!

I wore the shoes around the house and they felt OK, however the sides are so high around my ankles I began getting a blister. The tongue slips to the back even with laces through the slots so it wasn't a help Since I couldn't send them back I used a scissors and cut the corners down so they aren't rubbing any longer. Oddly enough the "surgery" doesn't show all that much. At least they aren't a total loss.

I initially liked these shoes a lot. The fit was perfect and they were very comfortable. I wore them for about an hour a day for a two mile walk. But after six months, the fabric top split from the rubber edge of the sole on the medial part of the right shoe. I paid a lot for the shoes and I think they should have lasted more than six months.

After getting my orthotic in the shoe, the shoe became a very tight and uncomfortable fit. The tongue was also much shorter than sunny NB I have. This shoe did not work for me

I bought these 5 months ago straight from the New Balance warehouse. I've ordered this particular shoe for at least the last 12 years. This time, however, I had a hole in the toe after 3 months!!!!! I had to fight to get a refund but finally did. I decided to order from Zappos because they are wonderful to deal with. Since ordering theses, I have talked to 2 other people who had similar results with the current New Balance shoes, so I am returning them and opting for Hoka shoes instead..and of course from Zappos!!
I'd also recommend:
