I'm so disappointed in these shoes! I haven't had them 3 months and there's a hole above my big toe! These are typically worn indoors, not rough on them at all. I can't believe I paid almost $170 for these. These shoes are not what they used to be.

Did not fit well a little uncomfortable but a beautiful sneaker as far as style.
I'd also recommend:

These shoes are hard as a rock. While there is some arch support, you'll still need orthotics if you have flat feet/fallen arches. For the price, I'm extremely disappointed. Too hard to be good walking shoes, particularly on pavement/concrete.

these were very narrow and tight in the toe, loose in the heel. Material felt stiff and cheap. Not comfortable and not much arch support. They went back.

I have purchased this shoe for years or the previous model because I need an xtra wide shoe that fit my orthotics. They are way too expensive but its hard to find something else that my orthotics fit in.. I was now informed that they will no longer be making them or apparently anything like them. I still can't believe how pathetic these expensive shoe's insoles are. No support whatsoever. Time to start looking for something else.

Loved the fit but I have a small bunion and it broke through the material in one week - on both pairs I own. The material should be stronger than this.

Use for fast walking. This was supposed to help pronation but had to add an insert. Also cushioning was poor, footbed hard.

The style was nice but the sneaker did not have enough support for overpronation or for arches. The soles were hard and clicked on my hardwood floor when I walked.

I have worn 1540 V2 for many years and in May bought the new 1540 V3. Within 5 months I have a hole in the upper toe. They have also packed down and are sloppy. They just aren't fitting like the 1540 V2 same size. Never had these problems with V2 and dont seem to be holding up like V2. Im having problem with a sore hip and am going to New Balance store today to ask what I can do with this shoe. A loyal New Balance customer.

I have been buying New Balance for years...decades actually. ! My 1540 v2 bought in 2018 are still in good shape but in Jan 2020 I bought a new pair 1540 v3 and I got a hole in the toe area within 6 months. I had been alternating the v2 and v3 since you're not suppose to wear the same pair every day. V3 is a dud and now I hesitate buying a new pair . But I love the fit and comfort..... New Balance, please revise v3! Also... I really dislike the shades of gray...they look dirty from day 2....

Returning these. Feel Brooks is a better value and Brooks have better cushioning as well.

I have always been able to wear my new balance shoes all day when I purchased a new pair, not with these. My feet were sore after half a day, I did this for a week, they never got any better so they were returned. Also very stiff compared to all others I have had.

I ordered the Silver/Polaris in a 12D. Love the color combination. The shoes felt good on, the problem is the shoestrings are so short, I couldn't lace them up and tie them in order to walk around the house to see how they feel. I use all lace holes, including the top one, but even when I took the shoestrings out of the top hole, they were still so super short, I couldn't make a decent bow and knot. I agree with the other reviewers that commented on the short laces. What the heck, NB? Am also concerned as other reviewers too pointed out about wearing a hole in them. The material seems thin. Guess I'll never find out since there's not enough shoestring to tie the laces so I can wear them. For the price of this shoe, I had higher expectations.

These are being returned for several reasons: 1) The tongue is way too short. It doesn't even reach the last hole. When you walk the laces rub against your ankle since there's nothing there. 2) I use an insert to stiffen the sneaker due to arthritis. I use the insert on the older model and no problem. For this I could barely get it in the sneaker and 3) it's difficult to lace. The inside fabric doesn't line up with the outside fabric. I ordered 2 different NB styles and both are going back. It may be time to try a different brand.

The soles of these shoes are too hard. They are like walking on blocks. Plus the material feels very cheap. I'm looking for more 1080 Fresh Foams; they seem to be the only ones that have the cushioned soles that absorb impact, which I need. However, the latest 1080 v10 had a stitched in tongue that was too tight and hurt my instep. Please go back to earlier versions in different colors OR bring on v11.

I've purchased NB shoes for their anti-pronation feature for several years but my latest purchase of the 1540V3 was a huge disappointment. After only 4 months, the toe blew out because of the thin webbing across the toe box. When I requested a replacement at my local store where they were purchased, it was suggested that I add a layer of moleskin to the inside of the toe box to provide more strength to the outer layer of webbed fabric. Really???? And, just ignore the fact that the visible hole in the top of the shoe shouldn't matter?? Before I purchase another pair of NB shoes, I'll need to be convinced they have improved the design flaw that requires the consumer to "put a band-aid" on a defective product.

I purchased these shoes for my wife for walking but they appear to be more designed for taking a stroll. When walking long distance, my wife's feet actually hurt.
