I have worn New Balance 1540 series for years, with out a problem, changing versions as New Balance came out with modifications. However, I have tried 2 different pair of 1540v4, and have had the same problem with both pair. The left shoe is very uncomfortable on the outside of my foot, in the middle. I have never had a problem there w/any other shoe. i am really disappointed that i can no longer wear this style.

1540v3 are not nearly as omfortable or stable on my feet and the shoe laces are a joke way to short. The previous version of the shoe I bought in February 2019 is much better shoe for me.

These are supposed to be made in the USA. Unfortunately the high price tag did not manifest itself in the shoe quality. This pair of New Balance is a much lesser quality that the pair i bought just a few years ago. Quality is inconsistent. The Tongue of the shoe is about 1.5 inches too short to be comfortable and also makes it harder to put on the foot. Also the shoe material in the width where it meets the tongue in the middle of the foot has been shorted...the tongue as a result has to make up the width, but it doesn't. This is weird and confusing. Mom has the same shoe in Gray - tongue is fine, but she takes a narrow...and I take a wide. The shortcuts in quality for this shoe are confusing at this price.

My feet are an 8.5B (40 standard), and I have been using New Balance shoes for at least 15 years. I use green SuperFeet due to very low arches, as recommended by my sports therapist. A plus is that the material is synthetic and not pigskin. The material feels more durable, so I don't have to worry about boring a hole into the toebox. I changed from the 990s in search of more durable (and non-pig) material for my shoes, but I regret it on the fit. The shoes are true to size in that if I changed the size, the shoe would feel worse than what they feel now (too long/short and too narrow/wide). This shoe is so stiff. My feet are in pain within 5 minutes of walking around in them, and I can run a max of 15 minutes without wanting to take them off. The back of the shoe is quite shallow, making my feet feel like flopping out, the midfoot is painful even with the NB suggested lacing to relieve mid-foot pressure, and the laces are too short. I really wish that these were more comfortable, and for a shoe that is advertised as having a lot of support (higher number), I find the opposite.

The cut of the shoe has changed -- especially through the instep and across the toe box. NB still hasn't done anything to improve the quality control of the eyelets for the laces so they will eventually break just like v2. They also increased the price and eliminated the spare set of laces to extend the life of the shoe.

Rubbed in the heel and the laces were quite short. I also didn’t care for the color.

The shoes run small and narrow. They are too tight for the size across the top of the foot and the shoestrings are too short to really tie. They are a good 12 inches shorter than all my other New Balance shoestrings. Seemed to cheap out on these.

I have worn the 1540s for over 10 years, owning at least 8 pairs, probably more. They fixed all of my foot issues, including over-pronation and arch issues. I have NEVER had a problem with the shoe. All of a sudden NB puts out a new version, saying that they only changed the look of the shoe, mainly the upper, and that the fit of the shoe hasn't changed. That is not true!! These shoes fit completely different that they original version of the 1540s- they are much more narrow and no matter how loose you tie the shoelaces, the uppers press down on the top of the foot to the point of bruising. Very disappointed after being a loyal NB customer for over 10 years!

They were nice looking shoes but WAY too small, even with very thin socks.

Well if you want platform sneakers two inches tall these are the shoes for you. I assumed that the foot sat far down into the sneaker with the side surrounding it, nope all that is heel! And just what I want an old person with vertigo to be clomping around in platform sneakers.

Shoes were not shipped in original box and showed signs on the soles of having been worn outside by someone. This was a full priced purchase for used shoes.

I have worn these shoes in this size for years. I can hardly keep these on. They are sloppy and more than a thumb's length too long in the toe.

Shoe felt very uncomfortable even though I went up from a M to a W. There doesn't feel like there's any cushioning in the sole - made the bottom of my feet hurt.

The fit of New Balance 150v3 was completely off. The 10N was a full size too short. The width was not narrow. Before Covid, I could always order NB in 10N and trust them to fit. I always had options of colors that were attractive. Now any 10N is typically either black or it's white. NB is no longer my go-to brand.

This sneaker was hurting my feet very badly, I tried to get used to them , they came highly recommended but the heals of my feet hurt very badly. I have flat feet and plantar facitis and they did me no good.

If all of my toes were exactly the same length, these might fit! This shoe is bluntly rounded which does not allow room.for my first, longer, big toe! For $169 I expect more from New Balance

I was disappointed with this shoe. It was not the most comfortable and the sole didn't really flex as you would think. It made it difficult to walk. One would think for the price of the shoe, you would float on air. Back they went.

I buy New Balance shoes all the time. This pair was shorter than other NB shoes of the same size. I noticed the shoe looked smaller when first taking them out of the box. I compared this shoe with my other NB shoes of the same size, and this pair was significantly shorter. I verified the size on the shoe to make sure it was not a fulfillment issue. The printed size on the shoe was correct. The shoe is just shorter than other NB shoes of the same size. Very disappointed.

I got these shoes recently and took them on a trip out of the country. I was walking over 3 miles a day and am now noticing a hole in the top of the fabric where my toe is.

This is a greatly degraded version of what, in earlier versions, was a well-designed and manufactured shoe. I've worn New Balance 1540v1 and 1540v2 for years.

I normally buy New Balance 990v4 or New Balance 990v5. They were unavailable at the time. I wear orthotics in all of my New Balance shoes. They did not work in this shoe.
