I use these when I go out in public. They feel good on my feet. The shoelaces are a little too short with my wide feet and when I use a double knot. I bought the 6E wide shoe and it was a little more snug and the shoelaces are shorter than the last pair I bought.

I wear my 1540s every day, and get 8-months solid wear out of each and every pair. Lifesavers, truly. Just would be happier if they were still Made in the USA

Very comfortable and light shoe that hugs my foot. Only issue is upper toe mesh tears within a year. On my 3rd pair, so I choose comfort.

It's nice to have a shoe that fits my wider feet and has a lot of support! I've purchased multiple pairs of these shoes over the years! The only wish I would have is for NB to go back to the original (version one) softer sole for better grip and more stealth.

LOVE the 1540's and the awesome support! Have been wearing the 1540's for 3 years with ones for inside the house (instead of slippers) and separate ones for outside and my feet, knees and spine could not be happier! They're a little heavy though.

I've been wearing new balance for years. I normally take a 11 4E. I've been wearing 928's which are great shoes but wanted something a little less "old man-ish" New Balance suggested the 1540. Nice shoe light, stylish, good support. The first pair of 1540v2 were 11 4E and were too big, I wore a hole in the top of the toe box. I really like the shoes and wanted them to work. My next pair I went down to a size 10.5 4E.....sill to big.

Shoes arrived much sooner than expected, approximately 2 days after ordering online. Could not find these shoes in any of the 10 stores that I visited. I like to try on and feel the shoe before purchase. I bought these shoes as recommended by my doctor while being fitted for orthotics. I have had the shoes for a month now and the left foot is still a little tight, probably still breaking in the new orthotics and shoes. I was a bit surprised at how much they cost but if they eventually help my feet than it was money well spent.

I have wore the Beast for years but a salesman at Fleet Feet said I needed to make the change to NB!! Just started wearing them. If they hold up I will continue buying them. Looking for a shoe that lasts more 3 months and doesn't look so dirty. Color and materials was a big reason for the change as well.

The liner around the ankles and tongue wore through relatively quickly. This happened on my 2nd pair, I didn't have the same problem with the 1st pair. I am on my 3rd pair and again the liner is wearing through. Very disappointing. Otherwise the shoes are comfortable allowing me to stay in on my feet all day. I hope they fix this problem.

I have worn this model for about 5 years and liked the construction, fit and especially the fact it was manufactured in the USA. Having recently ordered and received a new pair, these shoes were marked 'Made in Vietnam'. Zappos customer service promptly addressed my concern, confirmed that the model is a Made in USA product, and sent me another pair. The replacement pair were also made in Vietnam. Apparently, New Balance has moved the manufacture of this model overseas. Zappos was great about returning the second pair; I received a credit to my account and purchased a pair of SAS Pursuits (made in Texas) from Zappos. A+ customer service.

These shoes are fine for me. This is my 7th pair of the 1540 series. One thing I like about this version is that the tongue is long enough for the top shoestring holes to be used, and the strings rest on the tongue, not my foot. One thing I don't like is that the shoestrings are nylon, or something. They will not stay tied. I went and bought some cotton strings to replace them. It was like this on the last pair too, but none before that.

I have worn several 1540v2 shoes and I think the 1540v3 shoe is even better. I need a lot of support and this shoe gives the support. The only minor thing I wish is that the shoe strings were a bit longer. I plan to go to a store to buy longer strings (needed especially if you want to use the very top loops in tying the shoes)

I judge that this sneaker is minutely smaller than my previous pair of the identical model. I don't think it's my imagination. I wear orthotics and the left one does not fit in to the new sneaker as it did into the previous pair when they were brand new. Constant wearing will help.
