The forefoot seems a bit lower and the heel narrower, making for a more snug fit. The result is better control.

These are my go-to shoes for everyday wear as I have really sore feet. These shoes provide great foot support and room for orthotics.

I have to wear a shoe that fits my high instep, and wide foot. This shoe does both of those things. It fit right out of the box. I haven't had to break them in. They are very comfortable. I usually have to put inserts in my shoes, but so far that isn't necessary with these. Highly recommended.

I wear the 1540's for daily wear- work, round town, etc. Alternate with my 990's. The 1540's are a bit more modern look, not retro, and fit well. Great support for my feet, and the workmanship is top shelf. What I LOVE about NB all day long is the width availability and such- critical for me and my son and our wide feet. I'd buy again, and will continue to support the USA approach here. Like I said- we all have neighbors and they need jobs too!

I ordered the 4E and it fits great. It has an SL2 last with wide toe box, high arch & narrow heel which works for me. However, the last pair had the toe coming apart because the adhesive was not done properly.

These are great shoes for being on your feet for 12 hours shifts!

I have bought many pairs and love them. They have good support and my foot does not turn over to the outside.

I use this show daily in a job which involves much walking. I have a very flat foot that tends to over pronate and this show helps a ton. My feet are supported well all day and aren't sore at the end of the day. I will buy these shoes when mine wear out - annually - until I can no longer find them.

I love these shoes to go for a brisk walk on hilly streets. The fact that they are american made is a big plus for me.

I wear a 14A / AA depending on shoe last. These 14A's are a perfect fit. Replacing 993's that finally had to retire. Good looking shoe for running and walking. Strongly recommend

Fits like a glove. These don't hurt my feet. I like them.

I was diagnosed with plantar facisitis for the first time in my 71 years, not much fun, these shoes are helping me get back to wearing shoes instead of slippers they give me the support I need without being to hard, they did take a Little while for me to break in but all is well now.

Purchased for a son with disabilities that has a tendency to turn his hill outside. The rollbar is a miracle shoe to keep his feet straight. He also loves the way they feel.

First run in these shoes was 12 miler. No issues. 200 pound runner with wide foot 4E and high instep. They are Made in USA!

Great shoes! This is my seventh(7th) pair of the same shoes.

This is the only shows we can find that will fit my husbands foot correctly, he wears a 8 E and this is as close as we can find.

I wear 1540's all the time. The black ones are my work shoes. The gray ones are for running, very stable, I never stumble or wobble.
