Customer Reviews New Balance Made in US 990v5

This is my second pair as I found that is deep enough to insert a custom made insoles. Unfortunately NB is stopping this product. They have a new model which I don't like. I'm glad I could still able to purchased this probably last pair on line.

I received these shoes recently and have worn them on two runs. They are not flexible enough to allow my foot to properly flex while running. They are very well made, and beautiful shoes and great for walking. I love that they are made in USA, and support American workers. If you're a serious runner, these may not be the best. If you are on your feet for long periods of time and prefer walking over running, then these shoes will be a fine choice.

Overall exactly as pictured. I have other new balance styles that run true to size but found this one a bit snug. I'm a true 8.5 normally.

I love the solid navy blue color of these shoes. I've worn this same style for many years. This pair has much shorter laces than in the past. They also make a squeaking noise as I walk.

I should have sized down a half size but they are comfortable.

I wanted to purchase these shoes in a store in my little town. I thought these would be so nice to wear as an every day shoe to go shopping. The shoe feels very nice on and supportaive. But the tongue with the made in the USA heavy extra sewn on piece with the heavy flag. This heavy piece with the flag would make the tongue hit my ankle in the bend when walking. This is annoying with each step and with no show socks would rug my skin. I was looking forward to purchase but I cannot due to this one and only issue.

I bought these same exact shoes two years ago, and reordered recently. I instantly noticed that my heels did not feel as secure or comfortable in these new shoes. Within two hours of wearing I'm ready to get them off which is so unlike my last pair of these

It's been years since I've purchased New Balance, and don't recall if they ever had a strap to secure the tongue from moving to the sides, but these don't and I find it quite bothersome. Other than that, they have a great look and feel.

I buy a new pair every year, after the cloth part of the toe wears through. I wear the shoe with orthotics for a high instep. The toe box is sufficiently wide, but I find that getting a half size larger is more accommodating. Just wish they would come in more interesting colors. It's getting a bit boring.

After reading reviews, I ordered my standard size 7.5 and they were too small. I ordered in size 8 and too big. I think that 7.5 wide would have been a better fit.

I'm on my third pair of the shoes. While I love the shoes them self. Quite comfortable with my knee and feet but I have to say it is a very ugly shoe. I wish they'd make something other than black, gray and dark blue for women in the 990.

These shoes are comfy and trendy! I pair them with my mom jeans and a cute top and jacket whenever I'm heading into the city for a sightseeing day. Personally, I think the 608 V5's are more comfy regarding the cushioning for the bottom of the foot.

I use these running shoes for running only. I was happy to see that I could get the made in the USA version. I am hoping that they will be as durable as they were in the past when made in the USA. Unfortunately, I found the shoes made in China did not last that long with the heel wearing down quickly. So far the shoes are reasonably comfortable even with my orthotics in. I did notice that that shoe laces seem to be rather short. The shoes are slightly narrower and the toe box is slightly shallower than the old 857s which I loved but I am willing to give them a try.

I have worn 990's for years. they are the only shoe that I can wear to exercise. However, the price continues to climb, they are the most expensive shoe that they have. And the markup percentage has to be higher than any other shoe that they have. . And they NEVER go on sale. NB used to have a rewards program that helped a bit with buying these, but they have discontinued the program.

I use these shoes as every day tennis shoes and to do light workouts at the gym. They fit really well and my feet don't hurt at the end of the day, but I have had "cushier" tennis shoes so if that's what you're looking for, these aren't it. But otherwise, I absolutely love them and they go with every outfit!

great shoes. ordered online. BUT website states shoes can be returned to local SF stores. This is not the case. Stores say they have tried to have their names removed from website with no luck.

Use for every day including long walks. Made in USA. Third time I've bought 990 shoe, still great

They look good, and I can wear them, but with wide feet, even though it was a wide size I would have hoped for more room.

I would have liked a better selection of colors in my size.

I got these because I needed a second pair of sneakers. The fit for these are great, materials are strong (I constantly bang/scrape the toe and heel of my shoes), and I mostly like the look. BUT for me the v4 has more arch support. I might need an insert for these. Also I favor the v4 look. Overall pretty good, but if I can track down more v4s I'll switch.

I love the wide toe box and the very stable shoe I just miss the more cushioned V4
