Customer Reviews New Balance Made in US 990v5

I normally wear a 9.5 narrow shoe, and this 9.5 narrow NB walker fit perfectly. I have boney, thin, unpadded, narrow, pronated feet and I have trouble finding shoes that are supportive and padded enough for me to tolerate while walking even short distances. I also have pain from hip to heel in my right leg. Most of my shoes these days make the heel pain worse. These do not! There is not actually much of an arch, but probably more than most shoes, however, not nearly enough for me. I've never met a shoe that did have a supportive enough arch for me. I replaced their insert with a 3/4 insert I trust, and the shoes are now basically perfection. These NB 990v5 are fantastic! They seem very well made; I'm really happy with them. AND they are mostly plain black, not a bunch of wonky colors! Thank you!

These are great shoes. This is my second pair so now I have a black pair and a gray pair. Very comfortable from the first time I put them on. The only thing I would have preferred is to not have a reflective piece on the toe on the black pair, so I used a magic marker to make it black. And on the gray pair, I changed the white shoe laces out with gray laces. I highly recommend these shoes.

This was my second purchase of the 990v5 shoes in a 9 1/2 AA for women. I love these shoes, because awilly narrow athletic shoe is hard to find, and they fit me perfectly. I wear them when walking for exercise, and for any time I need a comfortable, supportive shoe to wear when out and about. A little pricey, but for me, worth every penny. I highly recommend these shoes if you have narrow feet like I do.

The fit is different than the v4. I really like the v4. Also, the heel seems bigger. But, a great shoe that I will keep as I can't find another v4.

I purchased this same model of shoe in the mens sizing because I wanted a wider shoe in the toe area and a snug heel. Mens shoes run a little wider in the toe box and I saw another woman did this and I thought it was a great idea. She did it mostly because she liked the colors of the shoes better and I'm doing because I have on top of the foot tendonitis and planter fasciitis and did not want any compression on the top of my foot. I also remove the insert and put in the New Balance insert that has a high arch support and the material is very cushy for extra comfort. I use these in every pair of New Balance I buy. The heel on the shoe fits nice and I get my shoes a little longer since I can not have my toes press against the end of the shoe and also I want to wear warmer socks in the winter. The inserts lift the foot so the shoe needs to be longer then just with the regular insert. In the women's shoe I get a 8.5 and in the men's size I got 7.5. They are long and my toes are very happy. I also like the all black colors of the shoes men have, they blend in with jeans and leggings better.
