First pair of "top shelf" New Balances. They're legit -- the pictures don't do a very good job of showing the difference in detail; you can certainly tell these shoes were made to a higher standard from the materials used to the stitching.
They were supremely comfortable right out of the box, and I have some pretty flat feet with a very low arch. I also had ankle surgery last year and a history of ankle injuries on my other foot, so I'm no longer cheaping out on footwear with proper support. I can't really "run" any longer, but these do a great job for other low-impact activities, along with standing/walking for extended periods.
I'm in my prime "dad shoe" years so this seemed like a natural fit, but I'd think these would look fine on anyone. Classic look that will age very well.

Felt a little narrower than marked. They are light as a feather. I had the original 990 back in the day with the Vibram soles.

These are good shoes but they have too much cushioning. They fit well but still feel big due to the very thick soles. I decided to try these after wearing Brooks for quite some time. Will keep these because they look great but will stick with Brooks most of the time as they feel more stable.

I am 72 years old and walk 4 miles per day so I need a comfortable shoe with support. These shoes are pricey but do a good job for me.

Shoes are well made and they fit. After wearing them for a few days, it appears that they will be durable. However, the soles are somewhat slippery on wet tile floors.

These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, and expertly built with high quality material. I'm recovering from ankle surgery and foot pain in my compensating foot. These 990v5s stabilize my feet, take some pain away and give me more confidence in each step. The style is maybe not the sexiest, but it has grown on me. Each day I'm happier than the last that I bought these shoes.

The 990v5s I received were good quality and faultless workmanship. The shoelaces were however are very thin and very cheap looking. They are nothing like the laces on the NBs I've bought in the past. Will have pay $8.50 for quality laces.

The shoes are great, but as the price approaches $200 they are becoming too expensive for this sort of average retired guy. Suggest you work on cost (or margin) reduction if you ever want to have me by another pair.

Great walking, solid foot holding sneaker.. I did switch out the white laces for medium grey oval ones.. they make the shoe look more expensive, colors all mesh, white stood out like a sore thumb.

I use the shoe for everyday use. I had been looking for a strong durable shoe that would hold up to my dayly activities without falling apart and I have found them. My knees and ankles don't hurt at the end of the day either. Finally a good shoe made in America.

This is the 5th pair of USA made model 990 New Balance shoes that I have bought. The fit, build quality, and comfort are as represented, meaning "A-1." While it's true that the price is significantly higher than overseas made shoes of similar appearance, the fact is, you get what you pay for, and if you can part with the extra dollars without too much dismay, my guess is that most people will think, as I do, that it's worth it. The big plus, of course, is that you're also supporting folks who live and work in the USA, and that's an intangible perk that makes you just feel better.

These quality American made shoes, fit perfectly. I wear a 10-1/2 Wide (EE). New Balance's American made shoes are much better quality than any made overseas. These are worth the price!
