I have been wearing this shoe or its predecessors for more than 20 years. It never fails to deliver in terms of sizing, comfort and shock absorption. My only request, even as an older runner who values tradition, is could we maybe get some snazzier colors, such as orange and red?

These are wonderful shoes. The fit and finish are excellent. I'm 74, so they'll be walking shoes. The fact that they're American made speaks to their quality. They aren't overpriced for the quality and fit of the shoes. Kudos!

I am disappointed. This version is simply uncomfortable. The shoe narrows into the front too much and crams the toes. It also feels like they are cheaping out on the materials. I can see the liklihood of a toe wearing thru the mesh quickly as the leather portion of the toe cap is narrow and stops right at where toenails lift up in stride. Seems like new balance has changed for the worse. I wore 574 and 900 series made in usa for the last 15 years at least. The 574 has become cheaply made and uncomfortable and now the 990 seems to be following suit.

I have a long and very narrow foot at 15 AAA. Needless to say, finding footwear that fits is a challenge. Dress shoes can be found for a price. With a little padding, New Balance has always come through for me in athletic and walking shoes at 15AA. I would love to have a pair of sandals, so decided to try a pair at 15 Medium, the narrowest I could find, hoping to be able to tighten them up. It wasn't even close!

This is my second pair in a year. They are very comfortable and fit my narrow size 13 foot well. Unfortunately, they do not last long and are very expensive.
