Best shoes I have ever bought from Zappos!

My husband has been wearing the 990 line of New Balance for decades. They are always excellent quality and recommended by doctors for their support.

Fit great, very sturdy. Excellent shoe!

I have narrow feet which seems to be rare these days and New Balance is one of the few athletic shoe brands to still do a narrow size. I tried the 990 several years ago, and they fit and felt great, but the sole did not hold up to high moisture. For such and expensive shoe, that was a disappointment. I'm trying a new pair now that feel great, just hoping they hold up better than that last pair.

These are the best shoes I've had in a long time. Tried alot of shoes eccos, red wing, reebok etc. By far best comfort for me personally.

The shoe fits great. I do notice my joints (knee) hurt. Looking for softer shoe.

New Balance's top-of-the-line shoe is worth the price. After trying one of NB other shoes, I thought it'd be wise to order a half size larger than my normal size. Very happy with the results. The only negative is that the shoe tongue is a little shorter than what I'd like. I can live with what I got though.

I have been a runner/walker for decades. Wore new balance 20 to 30 years ago, liked them, don’t know why I even changed, but I did. I am not naïve, I understand some shoes fit some people better than others. I like to rotate my shoes and have two different brands that I walk/run in to avoid stress injuries. I bought a pair of these and within two or three days my foot hurt terribly. Thought it was a coincidence. I literally had to come out of walking and running for multiple weeks. Went back to just a cheap pair of cushioned Nikes to start walking again. Thought I was just being stupid. Put back on the new balances when I was well healed up, and just walked 2 miles and my foot started hurting again. That is OK, not every shoe is perfect for everybody. My problem is, I Have a hard time thinking that 2600 people thought these shoes were perfect and they are 5 star rated. I’ve never wrote a review before of all my shoes from Zappos (would guess 30-50 running, casual, dress shoes), But I can’t say I understand why I am the only one who’s foot did not work with this shoe. In turn, how do you use a rating system to help decide what shoes would fit you best?

I'm very happy with the 990v5 I recently purchased. I've worn the 990 since it first came out and the v5 does not disappoint.

I've purchased 990s since 2012. Maybe before? I'm an occupational therapist who works with special needs children. I'm up and down all day. I wear these shoes on most of the days. Good support and stability. Comfortable and breathable. Assists feet in stepping forward when walking.
