These New Balance 990V5 shoes feel solid and supportive roomy enough to fit my custom orthotic and a thin foam insert under the included insert.

I’ve tried other versions of this shoe. Keep trying because USA made (yep, I understand not 100%, but I’ll take an attempt). They are definitely “old dude shoes”, but that’s an apt description of me. Other versions are just too tight in the toe box, even EE. However this version seems to have more room and for me is thus far more comfortable.

The blue pairs aren't as supportive as the black. The black has more support in the front and more toe box width. The blue pairs are wider in the heel.

They fit larger than my size….couldn’t speak to comfort and style as the shoe was unavailable in a 1/2 size smaller when I went to re order.

Gave these shoes as a gift. When he opened them up the shoes were scuffed on the bottom and there was hair in the box. It was so embarrassing to discoverer this. Couldn't even return due to it being a gift.

My son is 17 years old and was suffering from pain in his back we desired to spend money and buy him good shoes I read about this shoes and prioress very expensive but I was hoping to help him with his back pain he is Nike guy so he said he will try it after he got it and he said back pain almost gone his feet no aching and no smells his foot was smelly he loves this shoes he said I will never buy anything else but new balance we are very happy

Life long Brooks fan. I was told to try the 990v5, so I did and all I can say is Wow!!! Brooks are great shoes but if you wear them all day I notice the cushioning starts to feel to soft and actually make my legs and feet hurt after a long day of walking. The 990v5 hold up all day long for me. I can walk for 6-8 hours at an amusement park and the shoes feel the same as when I put them on in the morning. As far as sizing I have a normal foot. I've always been an 11 in brooks and most Nike. I tried going down in New Balance and I didn't care for the feel. So I wear true to size.

The computer fit at New Balance store in Evergreen walk was a complete joke just marketing hype. I purchased these made in USA sneakers hoping for comfort in walking. The fit specialist said they run small and suggested next 1/2 size up and he insisted on use of the add on Ortho insert. In real world walking the toe box was extremely narrow and compressed on cobblestone streets especially as well as sidewalks resulting in sharp pain. The fit specialist knew the surfaces I was going to be walking on. This was a complete waste of money on a very expensive made in USA sneaker.

I have not even tried this shoe on. It is used and came without its accompanying box and I also found a note in the shoe indicating that the stitching is wrong. I am sorry, I cannot accept this shoe.
