I had the 991, the 992, the 993 and the 990 V4. Every time I bought a new model, I had the feeling of an improvement. But now, when I bought the 990 V5, for the first time I must admit that the shoe is worse compared to the former model. The ortholite inserts are awful, because they make you sweat a lot and the stability feeling is bad. In general, the stability is not that good as known from the 990 V4.

I use the shoes for exercise as well as daily wear. They also help my injured knee in it recovery from surgery. The shoes fit perfectly and give excellent support. I am always a fan of built in the USA.

Absolutely awesome fitting shoes. I buy these for my father who has a wide feet and he just loves them. Raves that he can walk farther and his feet don’t hurt. I have always loved New Balance and these shoes don’t disappoint!

I believe this is my fifth or sixth pair of the 990. Going back many years when it was only white leather. Times have changed. I have a narrow foot (AA width) and thank goodness New Balance makes this width. Can't say enough good things about the fit and form of the shoe. Now that I am retired I wear the shoe daily. Please keep this width in stock.

A perfect fit. This is the only running shoe sold, so far as I can determine, for someone with a very narrow foot (AA!). Pricey for a running shoe, but for me,, cheap at any price. A surprising feature of the fit of this shoe is that it gently grasps and caresses the heel while one is running. The whole sole is padded for the feel of running on a carpet. Plenty of toe room. The shoe feels as one with the foot. A well designed lacing system to put equal pressure on the instep. I give the shoe only 4 stars for style because I would prefer a solid white option.

Worst pair of 990s I've ever owned. The heel doesn't have enough padding so the plastic used to stiffen it, jabs through. I had to return one pair after a few weeks because it was wearing a hole in the fabric...the second pair is doing the same thing. Stick with the 990v4.

I have been a NB client since the late 90s - yes I am that old. I need a wide shoe with a wide toe box, and of course I am going to buy USA made. This shoe was the worst pair I bought since the late 90s. It does not provide enough room in the toe, it does not feel sturdy like the other 15+ shoes I have bought from NB, and I bought online because in went into the store, but the employee was unable to actually help me.
I have been soooooooo happy with NB for so long, but I am so unhappy with this shoe.

New Balance sneakers are the best brand I have ever known. It's unfortunate that i now have to weigh their unconscionable support of trump against the value of the shoes. Unfortunately for New Balance, i think my conscience is more important than my foot comfort.

These look really good on my feet. The updated style makes them look much better. The black ones look really good with my jeans and dockers. They look and feel much better than the 990v4 model. I'm gonna get another pair. I was going back an forth between these an nikes. These feel better and last longer. I'm gonna get a new pair every year .

These were for hubby, he is wearing them now and says they are very comfortable. He likes the gray suede looking color. He wears a 9 ½ Wide and when he first put them on he thought they were not wide enough, but after adjusting the laces and walking around on our carpet, he says they now feel great! It’s his first try with New Balance,
I'd also recommend:
Hubby likes Saucony Athletic shoes too and loves Merrell’s for regular shoes

This shoe is obviously well made and it fits well and has support and comfort that you would expect. The design seems to be a tiny bit longer than other models I have from NB, but not enough to complain about. Other than that they fit great
