Would’ve kept these because they are so cute and comfy, but Zappos sent me a used pair!! Super disappointed. Had to return them and buy them from another store. This is the second time in about a month that I’ve received worn sneakers from Zappos!
Zappos, please do better and check products more thoroughly before sending them out. I’m hesitant to buy sneakers again from you because I keep getting worn shoes.
As far as the fit goes, I ordered my normal size and ended up getting the wide width to have more room in the toe area. Again, super comfy and would’ve kept these had they been brand new.

I had to return it. Normally I take a 12 extra wide and that is good for me as I need the extra toe room. I returned it and went to another shoe store and he suggested at 12.5 extra wide and that was great. I bought a pair of 880 and live them

Not a fan.
Shoe is bulky and clunky, think Frankenstein Boot and you’ll be close.
Very heavy material, lot of heat build up.
Worst of all, the tongue pulls to the outside of the shoe after a few steps, equally on both shoes; maddening. Hard to believe they built this shoe with no lace threader to keep the tongue in place.
I wish I could find a good point, but I can not.
NB never again.

Zappos and NB have horrible quality control. My Second pair with the one shoe that's a different size than the right. I usually wear 11, but the left shoe was too big, so I tried a 10.5, again the left shoe is too big. The right shoe is a good fit. I guess I need to try a 10, but after 2 attempts I'm worried that again one shoe will be a different size. No it's not my feet. I'm 40 and this isn't my first pair of shoes. Why is zappos sending out shoes with different sizes? How is that getting past QC at both NB and zappos? It's as if NB sent zappos a batch of mismatched shoes. I don't recommend buying 990s from zappos unless your left foot is bigger than your right.

I have been wearing new balance sneakers for about 20 years now . Very disappointed in the quality the past 2 years. The classic 993 and 990 928 were always my favorites, well constructed and great support. I was happy to finally find a size I could wear( for 6 months could not find anywhere) but never this disappointed with the quality, the support is nothing like it should be, there spongy and feel a rolling sensation when walking in then. I truly don't know what happened to your quality and for being made in USA I am very upset.After 20 years I have to star looking for a new brand.

I love quality of the 990v5 but the cut on the newest version is narrower than all the versions of the 990 I have purchased for years. I orderd and received a 6e but the cut is much narrower than all the others. I'm hoping they will stretch as I wear them.

I got a chance to wear these shoes for the first time last week. From a fit and comfort perspective, they are phenomenal. However, after wearing them for the first time (about 3 miles, exclusively on paved surfaces), the surface of the heel of the shoes have already started to peel away. (See pictures.) This is very disappointing as these are supposed to be premium sneakers with premium build quality and they have a premium price to match. Maybe I got a dud pair but for the price that these sneakers cost, I certainly hoped for better quality control.

Great shoe. Great quality.
However, I am unsatisfied with online ordering. 10% coupon was offered if I sign up my email. I may have save $18.00.
After signing up my email, they tell me that the coupon doesn't apply for the 990v5. The very next day and everyday since, I receive 30 spam mail to my inbox. Thanks for selling my email. (Sarcasm)

The 990v5 is narrower than the 847 in the e6 size. Unfortunately the 847 has not been available in 11.5 6e so I tried 990v5 and, yes, it is a bit too narrow.
Hopefully the 847 will be available in more sizes soon.

After a few weeks of wearing this shoe, I am left with one overwhelming takeaway - they are uncomfortable. While I am content with how they look on my feet, they simply hurt my feet. I have the proper size, but after a full day of wearing these, I am practically itching to take them off.
FWIW I have bad feet but certainly wasn't expecting this outcome when I bought these shoes.

I have worn NB shoes for over 40 years because they are the only company making narrow sizes. Love the fit and the shoes. Dealing with the company is another matter altogether. When I place an order, there is no acknowledgement that it was received. My only evidence is the charge on my credit card. Earlier this year I returned a pair. Nothing for 6 weeks. Finally, I contacted NB and upon providing the RA#, I finally got my refund. Abysmal.
If another company made narrow athletic shoes you would lose a lifetime customer.

the fit is great. there is a pencil size hole an inch up from the tongue bottom, off to the side. I have been buying new balance made in usa for over 35 years. never a problem. i guess its due to covid.

I purchased this style because my regular go-to shoe the 1540 were not in stock. this 990 does not measure up to the 1540 in any way. insole has to much cushion and toe is too pointed. my heel feels like it wants to slip off to the side. very sad.

Ordered 2A size. Not really a 2A, still way wider than it should be. Had to add more insoles to make them wearable. For the price pretty disappointed in the fit.

The very week that I received delivery of the shoes I bought on-line, I received a post card from my local New Balance Store offering a 15% discount until April 15. I have worn NewBalance 990s for 25 years and have purchased many pairs from local retailers. This was the first purchase I have made direct. I sure think it would have been nice for you to offer the same discount to this long-time customer, but NO-you processed the full price order. Not impressed with your highly touted company ethic..although you do make good shoes.
