Well padded, more than speedcross 4, sits a little higher on the ankle providing a little more protection for the ankle. I am pleased with this purchase and highly recommend.

Excellent traction and comfort, really hug your feet and allow strong hiking abilities!

Super lightweight and comfortable - just like slippers. And the grip, holy wow Batman! My intention is to wear these camping and for lighter hikes. Might end up wearing these every day, they are so comfortable. Quick to slip on & off which was helpful with a fractured wrist injury. Run a little big, so think about that when ordering. Taking them with me to Nepal on a 9-day trek. Can't wait!

Light, comfortable, traction-good for mountain runs (12 miles every other day, not bad for an old man of 63 years & a lifetime of knee injuries). I've bought a dozen pair of this shoe in a women 7.5 size. I'm grateful for the black color option after wearing feminine colors for years; not that there's anything wrong with this :-)

This is my fourth pair of SpeedcrossI've gone through three pair of the Speedcross 4 and it was my favorite shoe for trail running. This is even better. I'm loving the extra room in the toe box. It's more comfortable and roomy, yet still hugs my foot in the right places so I can get the best traction and speed. Would very highly recommend.

This is the best shoe I've worn in deep mud, really grippy, improved material and better cushioning

I use them to work with horses and they are great, so comfortable! And the grip they have helps me to handle them at all times. Second pair I buy for this job! Excellent!

I love Salomon's and have worn for many years. Only difference I noticed on this shoe is that the toe section is slightly larger than the 4's. It doesn't affect performance but made shoe fit big to me. Cannot return once worn so have to keep it.

I have had them for a month . The toe part is wider which makes me think they will last forever , unlike my old ones that ripped by the toes in less than a year

I have been a fan of Speedcross for many years. The three attributes that are very important to me that Speedcross always delivers, are cushion, support and being lightweight. Their latest model has improved on cushion and support. The tread is a lot thicker, which is important to me since I jog with these on pavement, and the support hugs the foot in a way that I find even more comfortable than the previous models. I highly recommend the latest Speedcross model.

I just got a pair of these this week (they're beautiful) and again what can i say, excellent, sturdy, high quality and now even MORE comfortable if thats even possible! Which apparently it is. Absolutely recommend!!

I have purchased four of these shoes in different colors. They are very comfortable and fit my feet nicely!

These shoes feel like you're wearing socks. They grip so well that I'm amazed at how well they grip the terrain. I've tested them out on the muddiest/splashiest course yet, and they excelled. Really, the only time I didn't feel in control was when I was going across a wet wooden bridge. It ran a tad (maybe 1/4"?) longer compared to the Speedcross 5W.
