These are super comfortable, albeit they seem to run large. These only lasted for one summer of hiking on dirt (3-6 miles 3-4x/week), though. The soft traction nubs on the soles are worn down to completely flat under the ball and heel of my foot. I am debating if it is worth ordering another pair.

Really nice shoes which I was happy with until my big toe started to hurt. It's an issue particular to me, but because of the flexibility of this shoe I can't wear it. I will be looking to return these shoes. Btw, I have worn and loved Solomon's for MANY years

These were a bit of a disappointment. I have had SpeedCross models in the past and really liked them for off-pavement walking in Florida, where there is often dew and water on the trail. This newer SpeedCross model has been redesigned and I don't like some of the features. The speed-lacing area is much wider than in previous models, so I can't seem to get the laces tight enough. In addition, the shoe is a bit larger and wider in the toe box than in the previous model (of the same size), so that adds to the problem of not being able to get the laces tight enough over the toes. The re-design also includes a higher heel counter combined with a tighter tongue setting, so it is almost impossible to slip your foot into the shoe without a shoehorn. In addition, the soles seem more rigid, which might be fine for the longevity of the soles, but after walking at least 30 miles in these shoes, they are still making a "pa-wok pa-wok" noise with every single step, which I assume is from the stiffer soles. The stiffer soles are also not as comfortable as in the previous models. In the plus column, the waterproofing on this re-designed model is better than the waterproofing on the older models, so that is a plus for keeping my feet somewhat dry in Florida conditions (altho my feet still get moist, they don't get sopping wet). Not sure I would recommend this model to anyone who loves their older SpeedCross models.

I have a narrowish foot and have loved loved loved my Speedcross 3s, so my first choice for a replacement was of course the Speedcross 5. To my disappointment, the toe box is huge and this is no longer a slim fit shoe. Salomon, please bring back the "slim" in your Speedcross 5, since you are still advertising it as a slim fit shoe.

These shoes fit true to size. They have good traction. They are comfortable and don't need a lot of breaking in. My only issue is the insoles. They were fine until my feet got wet crossing a stream. Then the insoles constantly kept bunching up under the ball of my foot. I had to stop every few miles and straighten them out. Fast forward a few weeks and wore them in an OCR race same problem. I wish I could replace the insoles and then these would be the perfect shoes.

Disappointed in the sizing as I've had multiple pairs of these and comparing them to my 4s they are much bigger. Totally confusing for someone who has always relied on these shoes for trail runs.

I have been a diehard Salomon fan for years. I recently purchased a pair of Speedcorss 5 and I am disappointed in the fit and the feel of the shoe. The Speedcross 4 was so comfortable and my size 9 foot was so happy in them...Not with this SC 5. Please consider going back to the SC 3 & 4 styling again. And also more color choices too. Thank you.

These are my second pair of Salomon's. I love them, but I find that after a year of casual wear (1 hour dog agility class once a week, in clean packed sand or on grass, some weeks twice) they start to rip where your toe bends. My first pair did this (not speed cross) so I upgraded to these. Sadly these are doing the same thing. I love and recommend these shoes, but I just wish I could get more than a year out of them! The three stars is for their comfort, grip and awesome lacing system! The durability is why there is no more stars

I am on my feet 12 hr days. I LOVED my Speedcross 4. Then they were no longer available so tried the 5. Immediately I noticed that they were not as comfortable as my 4s were. Specifically it rubs at the front of my ankles especially when I need to squat down but even with regular walking. Not a fan of the 5. Bring back the 4!

So I bought the 4 version as the 5s were not out yet. They stained first hike/run and I could not wash out. The comments about being too long are accurate. I wear an 8.5 in Nike running shoes and I have a wide foot. I bought an 8 regular in these and they fit fine but after just 3 wears, they stretched and became just too loose. So do go down a size and you better have reaaaally wide feet for the wide. The inside back heel has fabric lining. This wore down and rubbed and separated like a lump of rolled up fabric. I cut it out but now a gap. The laces had to be sinched so tight they got too long and caught on front grippers all the time. Positives- great grip and good heel support until they wore down. They look like I ran them for 2 years and been about two months. For the cost they really do fall apart too fast. I have ASICS that have lasted 10 times longer.

Second pair of Speedcross 5's which are comfortable, cushioned and wear well. The insoles are however terrible when they get wet. They ruck-up and are very uncomfortable. Have used old ones from old speed cross pro's to cure the problem. The problem is due to the two different materials that comprise the insole absorbing water at different rates and then when running downhill they crease and ruck-up. Some shoes have single material insoles and the problem is solved.

I bought these in a 7, and this way big and gave me massive blisters in the instep in just a few km, when I initially put them on I was so excited as I've heard amazing reviews and many of my ultra friends wear them they felt light and comfortable and super grippy hope a small pair fixes the problem

I wish that Salomon would accept returns even if the shoe has been tried. I ordered these in regular as opposed to wide after reading the reviews that they are wider. I got rid of my Speedcross 3s because I couldn't STAND how narrow they were. I guess I will tolerate these as they are wider, but still not comfortable. DEFINITELY order the WIDE version if you have ever thought previous versions were too narrow. On a positive note, I didn't get any blisters on a 13 mile hike.

The Speedcross 2 and 3 specifically, were amazing trail shoes. They fit like a glove, gripped literally everything I ran on, over, across, through. Be it dirt trails, rock and roots, tech trails in Moab, mud, ice.... Speedcross 4 was okay. Speedcross 5 is useless. It fits similar to that of a cinder block strapped to my foot. So disappointing.

My original pair of Speedcross 5 shoes were purchased from REI. I LOVED them. I ran on pavement, dirt, gravel, rugged trails. I even wore them as casual sneakers. They lasted for 6 years until they finally wore out, and even then, I hated to get rid of them. When I decided to get another pair, REI was sold out in my size, so I ordered this pair from Zappos in March 2021. I have worn them casually, walking my old tiny dog on .5 mile easy pavement walks, and to mow my lawn. December 2021, 9 months later, the soles have worn completely down and have no traction at all at the heel and ball of foot. I don’t know if it’s just a manufacturer defect or if different pairs are made for different sellers, but I’m extremely disappointed in these $130 shoes. They’re essentially house slippers now. Very unhappy.

This is my 3rd pair of Salomon speedcross and although there are lots of good reviews, I have to say I haven't been happy with how long they've lasted at all. I thought spending a bit more would make a difference but it didn't. The lugs on the speed cross 5 have lasted only 5 months, see photos. I run through woodland and along grassy river banks 3-4 times a week. Yes they are super grippy, and yes they are comfortable and lightweight but that's it for me. I won't be buying another pair, sorry Salomon.

Got a pair of Speedcross 5 salmon color about a month ago. Used them in very light hikes while on a one week RoadTrip around Oregon State. Came back home and noticed shoes are starting to peel off and come apart. If this happened with just a week of usage I am worried about how they are going to hold on in the future. For the price I was expecting a better quality and durability. I am very disappointed.

This shoe ran much bigger than my regular Salomon size...and, it was also quite narrow in the forefoot. I returned.

I felt these shoes were much larger than my old Salomons, albeit a different model. I tried a smaller size, but, did not care for the narrow fit, either. My forefoot felt cramped. So, thank goodness for Zappos' easy return policy on this one!

I bought my Speedcross 5 after reading as many reviews as I could find. Comfort and styling 9/10 Wet grass conditions 9/10 Wet rock 0/10 Wet bare soil 1/10 Tread is wearing way to quickly, and I will need to replace them sooner than my previous shoes that cost far less. I would definitely not purchase them again, I honestly don't think they are made for the South African climate and terrain.

I really liked the older model. This show is wider and the speedcross 4 fit my narrow foot. The back of the heel comes up way too high and rubs on my Achilles on both feet. The speedcross 4 had a much better fit in the heel. I am searching for any speedcross 4s left over- otherwise I might have to stop buying salmon which is sad because I have been running in Salomons for so many years I lost count.

Even though I ordered these in a wide (I am normally a medium) they were still too narrow in the toe box, I didn't used to have this problem with any of my 30 years purchasing Salomon sneakers, so back they go :(

I have bought and worn 8 pair of Speedcross 4 and been extremely happy with them. The Speedcross 4 NEVER gave me a single blister. They never needed to be broken in. I have a narrow foot and loved the Speedcross 4. I just received a pair of Speedcross 5 in my usual size 8. Unfortunately, the toe box fits looser than the Speedcross 4 and I was unable to tighten them sufficiently. I wore them this morning and was 2 miles into my 4 mile run when I got blisters on the side of my foot. I am so disappointed in this shoe, and so very sad that Solomon decided to change a terrific shoe! I will be searching for a Speedcross 4.
