These are FANTASTIC trail running shoes. The comfort is beyond anything I have experienced in a trail running shoe. They are very light weight and even more comfortable than my Salomon Sonic Ra Max road running shoes. I don't particularly like the look of the VERY AGGRESSIVE tread, especially since it continues onto the toe of the shoe...this makes them almost look like a cleat for football or baseball. Otherwise styling and most importantly function are right on point. I own numerous Salomon shoes and these are at the top of the list form me for trail running. Much better functionally than the xa pro 3d (which is a great shoe as well).

Order half size larger than you would normally order.

This is the most comfortable version yet. The toe box is wider/longer than the previous versions and the upper material feels great. I use these in the snow, mud and on rocky steep terrain. I highly recommend these for winter use.

I hated them at first. When I opened the box, the extremely bright color was off putting. I tried them on, walked around the house a bit, removed them, back in the box and clicked “return.” A little later that day, for some reason, I decided to try them again. I felt as though I hadn’t really given them a chance. I felt I rushed to judgement about the appearance and let that drive my distaste for them. So I pulled them out again. This time I just walked. I have a rather large house so I literally did laps through the house. Living room through the dining room into the bonus room, turn around, through the formal room, down the hall into the master, turn around, etc. and so on. By the second lap, I knew I had misjudged them. Then came the ultimate test: outside. Down the driveway to the street, down the block, turn, keep going and going. I knew within minutes I was keeping them. They’re very comfortable and I really love the laces. Strange I know, but there’s nothing to come undone with these. I hate the color but it was the only one in my size. But as I’m an old man and therefore invisible, it doesn’t matter. I can say; and I say this with an unblemished record of staunch heterosexuality…they’re fabulous!

I had been wearing On Cloud running shoes for several years, but I wasn't pleased with their durability or there propensity to pick up rocks when off of pavement. The shoes are awesome. Super confortable, grippy, but still stylish (although to me anything just black is good). My only mild complaint is the speed laces. There seems to be more lace than I can store quickly. It makes the "speed" of the lace void. Anyway, I use these now as an everyday shoe as well as a trail shoe. Really pleased.

Awesome trail shoe. Super comfortable and great support. Is a narrow shoe but wraps the foot well especially when running in transitional terrain. Very durable. Just one of the shoes in my Salomon collection. Also does a great job in snow. Highly recommend.

These are the best version of the speedcross line. I've owned 3's & 4's, but these feel amazing and seems like they have fixed the issues people complained about in the past. Order a half size larger, trust me!

Got these for my hubby as a Christmas gift - he couldn't be happier. With Salomons, you know you cant go wrong!

Great shoe, runs a bit narrow.

The Solomon Speedcross 5s are awesome! Exceptional overall and design and construction especially with the GTX model! The new low-profile laminated construction saves weight and it’s looks super slick! The new thicker and more durable, better treads are awesome as well, they’re way more comfortable and more adaptable when walking on wet tarmac if needed. There is one feature I’d definitely would like to see added to these sneaker and that is there needs to be an additional centered “climbing“ shoelace loop in the center of the top portion of the four-foot for a stronger adjustability/hold in the toe-box. Because Solomon have now lengthened and widen the toe-box a little too much, they’ve slightly overcompensated now. It’s simple if you have wide feet get the wide model. I do not. There is exceptional underfoot comfort with good arch support but I would like to see even more arch support in the OrthoLite insoles, and the height of the drop is totaly perfect. If Salomon makes the toe-box any bigger it's going to be too sloppy, as it is already slightly sloppy already for me compared to the Speedcross 3s which I admit were snug. Never had the 4s. The Speedcross 5 GTXs are by far the best Outdoor Gore-Tex Sneakers on the market! I am the one that requested Salomon to bring GTX / Gore-Tex model here to the States, so thank you Salomon :) I’d like to see the toe-box shortened by 1 or 2 mm as well as the 1 or 2 mm in the width, as the toe-box has become a bit too sloppy now. In years past with some of the complaining about the toe-box being too narrow Salomon has now overcompensated to much unfortunately, but the design and construction is excellent! I have now purchased three pairs because I like them so much, I would just like to have the toe-box slightly tweaked/decreased by 1 to 2 mm a bit. It would be cool to see this exact same upper with midsole with a hybrid tread geared for slippery tarmac conditions, and also a mid version with some ankle support. GearFreakNY Approved!

They feel pretty similar to the Speedcross 4. They definitely look cooler in my opinion. The tongue area is very comfy for my taller high-volume feet and they feel very buttoned-down, but I had just a bit more heel slip than I would like in the 12's, and the 11.5's felt like they'd be a bit tight for 20+ mile runs. I ended up with the Ultra Pro in 11.5 D. It has a bit more room overall in the toebox, a similar feel elsewhere, a smaller heel, and a little less heel slip for me.

My Husband has a really wide foot. These fit more narrow than a standard width shoe. These should not be labeled as wide.

I’ve been wearing men’s size 9 Salomon Speedcross shoes for years. I ordered these in a 9 and they were about 1.5 inches too long in the toe. So I ordered a size 8.5 and my toe touched the tip of the shoe. Quality control issue? Guess I’ll go back to Speedcross 4.
