This shoe is exactly what I needed for hiking/ walking. Its water proof coating has been well tested already. I'm very pleased.

I LOVE these! I'm a dog walker, so i reeeally needed waterproof shoes. It's been pouring buckets, and a dog's mom wanted me to play with her dog in a retention basin today. It ranged from swamp to ponds, and my feet were the only things dry on me! I've also worn them for walking dogs on regular dry sidewalks. I normally wear a size 8 in a hiking boot, and a size 8 fit me. I can't speak to comfort or support because I replaced the insole with my Superfeet inserts, I always do with every shoe.

It was a little bit tighter than the other Merrill shoes I've purchased.

Although I ordered up a half size, my toes touched the end. So I agree with those that think this shoe runs a bit small. I do have a narrow foot and ordering a B was taking a chance, but the shoe didn't seem too wide anywhere except (for me) in the heel. With the stiff sole, my heel slipped a bit. Excellent quality shoe though. Just not for me.

These are my second pair of Merrill hiking shoes. They're great—comfortable, lots of support, true to size. My one issue is that the shoelaces never stay tied. No matter how many knots I tied, they always came undone after minutes of walking. I eventually just replaced them.

Of the 3 Merrell hiking shoes that I ordered, this was my least favorite, mainly for the style. I went with the Merrell Moab 3 in Burlwood. The size and width were good. Just preferred the Merrell Moab 3.

Felt a 1/2 size too small. The width also felt narrow and the toebox was short.

Took these on a trip to Patagonia. They were great for the wet weather but just not very comfortable with a reasonable sock. Maybe my size was off. Seemed a little short in the heel, too. Wish I would have tried a larger size or wider width.

Just received them today and right out of the box, took my lunchtime mile ramble on a trail up the hill behind my home. I love that there is no breaking in period! Fit is snug, great support and thought I would not like the higher heel, but I do! The only con to this shoe is adjusting the laces to tie them. I had a hard time pulling the laces up snug enough (due to hand dexterity issues) and the tongue is very thick - but once I got them to feel right, they stayed in place. I did have a bit of debris when I took them off, but not a handful like my old hikers. Can't wait to test the waterproof feature. Highly recommend!

Sturdy shoe. The reviews recommend ordering a half size larger so I did. It gives me the extra room in the toe which is needed but the heel is loose fitting. Still a nice pair of shoes. And they are a bit squeaky.

they fit ok. the tongue area is wider across than I am used too. THey look clumsy from the top, otherwise, fine.. I wouldn’t buy them again.

I had to buy a half size larger to get the right length. Also, my foot is narrow but these still seem a bit narrow. (I bought the medium width). Overall very comfortable but I can't wear thick socks. Perhaps the most annoying thing about the shoes is that the shoelaces are barely long enough to double knot. I hike 3+ miles at a time and like to double knot shoe laces. I'll have to buy new shoe laces.

I usually buy the Moab 2 but decided to give these a try. The styling is a little sleeker, not as sturdy as the Moab, but they feel very comfortable. I was looking for a waterproof walking shoe since I won't be going to the gym and these feel lighter than the moab. Only drawback, I think, might be they don't have the vibram sole, but I will have to wait to see how these perform this winter before I can really comment on that.

Plenty room in the toe box. Heal has nice cushion. Could use more cushion in the foot bed.

These are very comfortable. I can go for my morning walk then garden all day and my great are happy. They are not very cute however. I don’t like the centered toe suede that the laces go through. It pulls and makes a weird wrinkle on the top (hard to describe). And the grey which was the only color in my size, is very boring. But, comfort is most important so there you are.

These are a tad smaller than I expected. And really, just my one foot, so I'm sure I'm the problem! lol Other wise I'm really happy with the support and traction on the trails. Exactly what I was hoping for!

They look like nice shoes but when I took them out of the box they looked small. I looked at the size to make sure they were an 8.5. I could barely get them on my feet. My toes come to the very end and are very small and tight. They must be at least a size smaller than normal. I normally wear an 8 and recently went up to 8.5 in a tennis shoe which is what I ordered. I have a pair of Merrells's that are 15 years old and are 8.5 which were slightly big but I wear a heavier sock. I had a previous pair of 8's that I wore out. I do not want to order a larger pair without being able to try them on. Have to return them.

I originally bought the Moab and sure enough, the reviews that said these run small were accurate. Problem is, they don't run so small that going a size up would help. So I went with the Alverstone and they look awesome! The fit was a little snug, but loosened up a bit after I wore them. But again, they run slightly small enough that they will not accommodate a thick hiking boot sock. Keep that in mind when choosing yours!

I wanted to love these. After years with my Keen hiking boots, I wanted some shoes that were less cumbersome than full boots. Sadly, there was just enough slipping in the heel, that even with thick hiking socks on (definitely order up at least a half size if you plan to wear thicker socks!), I knew would create a blister in nothing flat.

Comfort right out of the box. I have a moderately wide foot with a high arch and these accommodate my feet . Waiting to see how waterproof they are. Great for walking the dogs.
