Size seems right. Arch support is decent.

I usually fit comfortably into 9.5 (regular not Wide) with Merrill, but not with this shoe, unfortunately. Sad to send back as I like the look and need a new 'waterproof' low hiker, but this shoe fits a bit more narrow, at least for me than Merrills that I have had in years past. I have a wider toe box, high arches and one bunion. Even with all that going on, normally a 9.5 does the job. This time, the shoe on the foot with the bunion was a little tight and narrow- even the other foot felt a little more narrow than usual. I'll keep trying! Thanks Zappos for your easy return policy!

The toe box seems low. My great toe was rubbing. I can’t take the chance that they will stretch out on a long hike so must return.

I love everything about this hiking shoe: attractive colors (no neon, thank you! this is, after all, a hiking shoe), wonderfully lightweight, yet with a terrific sturdy not-too-bulky sole and just-right tread for Colorado's trails, and it's waterproof. They look more like shoes than clunky boots. These are all things I've been searching for to take as my ONE pair of shoes for traveling (plus one pair of sandals). I usually wear 8 or 8.5 wide, but after reading a number of reviews (on other sites) that mentioned these worked for "problem" feet, including bunions, arthritis, and Morton's neuroma, I decided to try them. To be fair, I knew they came in Medium width only (as opposed to the men's Alverstone waterproof, which comes in Wide), but I can sometimes wear Medium shoes and these looked wide with a flexible forefoot. They ALMOST worked. I ordered an 8.5 M and wore them in the house for 4 hours before I had to admit defeat. They are truly lightweight, a good length, and very comfortable, but I need a Wide. I've thought about getting the men's version of this shoe in a 7 W (I've bought men's shoes before in order to get more width), and I may end up doing that. I hope Merrell will make this perfect lightweight waterproof hiking shoe in women's WIDE. For those with more typical medium-width feet, these are terrific.

After trying many pairs of hiking shoes these seem the most comfortable and best fitting. I have not had an opportunity to actually hike in them, however.

These are not my favorite Merrells, and I’ve worn the brand for years. Something about the sizing is off in their shoes and boots now. I’ve always worn a size 9 in a boot or shoe and now I need a 9 1/2, which are a little too big but the 9 is too small. I have an old pair hiking boots, my favorite, size 9 and still fit perfect. Also, with any of the waterproof Merrells, don’t bother spending the extra money as they are only waterproof for about six months. I have to spray mine with waterproofing spray, and that’s just so I don’t get wet feet while walking through a field after it rained.

Normally a Merrell footbed gives me reliable stability. It is not clear whether this specific shoe was uniquely defective (a quality-control issue?), but the left footbed seemed to give way just at the juncture of the ball of the foot and the arch. I am returning these in hopes of finding something more stable in another Merrell.

These shoe are good on their own, but I was looking for a hiking shoe that would give me support and stability. This shoe was weak in stability and support for me. I am going to stick with the Merrill Moab 2 even though the tongue of the shoe is folded at edges and rubs the top of my foot. Guess that is what mole skin is used to protect.

I purchased this shoe a half-size larger than my typical street shoe—so that it would accommodate my thicker hiking socks. However, the shoe squeezes my mid foot and arch area. I have many Merrell boots and they typically run true to size. I usually order Merrells in size 6 -- and they fit just fine. These hiking shoes in size 6.5 were too small!

The B-width ran narrow, which was good for me because I have a narrow foot and there aren't many (any?) hiking shoes in narrow. However, they were very short. I would have ordered in a bigger size, except that the shoes were also very heavy and I'd prefer a lighter weight sole.

I wanted to love these shoes, but unfortunately I'm returning them for the primary reason that the toe box is too big. It's too high, so that when I take a step, the front of the shoe forms a little wrinkle. I guess they'd fit fine if one's foot is, well, thick? But it's a nice looking shoe.

Unfortunately this pair had to go back. Even after ordering a half size bigger my toes were up against the front of the shoe which was uncomfortable.

These just weren't comfortable....I changed different socks, but it didn't seem to matter. They'll be perfect for someone, just not me.

Runs large. I wear a size 8 and, with socks, I figured I would need to add a half size. With very thin socks they were too short. I don't think a larger size will cut it so I'll keep looking.

These shoes pinched my toes and made me pronate more than I already do. I took them off almost immediately. Nice looking, but no way will they work for me.

I wear a number of Merrill styles for everyday use and for light hiking, all in the same size. These were much smaller. My toes were at the end of the shoe, and I order a whole size larger than my foot measures because I want that extra room, so these are way off what used to be their standard sizing. Attractive shoes, but the Moab will give you more room and they last forever.

They crinkle! I loved the fit and style and wanted to keep them, but they make a crinkle sound with every step. I kept reaching inside to see if there was tissue or packing material in the shoe. I also tried working them with my hands for a while to see if they were stiff and would quiet down, but they didn’t. My guess is the waterproofing made the sound. Had to return them. But they sure were comfortable.
