I am female with very difficult to fit foot. Women's 8.5 or 9 E. Since most brands don't make women's shoes in E width, I have worn men's shoes for at least the last 40 years. It is even difficult to get a men's shoe to fit me. I have been wearing the men's All Out Blaze I boot for a few years, and it is delightful. I do have to remove the internal footbed, to get enough volume for me, but I like a minimal feel in footwear, so that is not a problem for me. I was told that this Alverstone is basically the replacement of the AOB. But I can tell you, the last is NOT the same shape. The AOB had a very wide toe box (like a duck foot shape) which is exactly what I want/need. The Alverstone has a more traditional pointy toe. And so it was WAY too long for me in the same size I wear in AOB even though the width was good. And they just didn't feel as good as the AOB. I WISH Merrell would bring back that shoe. It is the ONLY hiking boot that is comfortable for me. I am serious about that. Also, the top lacing hole should be a hook NOT a hole. Just terrible to lace with only holes and not hooks for at least the top one or 2 eyelets. I wanted to like this boot, but I sent it back. :( Merrell's MOAB hurts my foot. So it is not an option.

They don't use Vibram technology. The sole is poor dosen't have good grip. Arch support is in the wrong place. Stick with Moab.

Not comfortable at all. The size seems off. I am using Merrell shoes since last 3 to 4 years and so far this pair is the worst.

I got a return label so I could send them back because they are not up to the Merrell standards that I have been used to for so many years but I guess I will have to wear them until you bring back a quality shoe that has this cushion heel that I have to have to walk with on a daily basis, nothing else will do the job for me.

NOT WATERPROOF. I've had two pairs of these. The first time I thought maybe I got a bum pair and it was too late to return them. The second pair failed/leaked after 6 months. Until Merrell goes back to Goretex I'm done with them.

Ive bought many Merrell shoes over the years these were the worst. Waterproof... I think not. I woree them out of the box in a fairly light rain hike, going through very shallow puddles (not exceeding the sole depth) and through some grassy areas. Just the reason I bought these "waterproof" shoes. I got home and my socks were damp (not wet) and the inside of the shoes had moisture that too k 2 days on the stoop to dry out. Very disappointed.

This was far from waterproof. First time wearing, got soaked in moderate rain and shallow puddles.

I bought these thinking they would be a sturdy hiking boot. Does have good heal cushion, but virtually no ball or toe support. Put a lot of hiking in and my feet paid dearly. Very disappointed.

I don't know if Merrell has recently changed their product, but I am beyond disappointed with these boots. I bought them new a few months ago, replacing an old pair of Moabs I'd been wearing for years. These are marketed as waterproof, yet 10 minutes of walking through dewy grass left my feet sloshing and soaked. It's like there is no waterproof membrane whatsoever. Aside from that, they fit fairly well, but I bought them specifically because they were marketed as waterproof.

I've found Merrell boots to be the only comfortable boots for me to wear for work. I have bunions and wide feet so I get the wide width and they are totally comfortable right out of the box. Other brands rarely last me more than 4 months but my current Merrells are still doing well after 6 months. I abuse them with water, mud, rough, rocky terrain and constant all day use. I won't be buying anything else.

Boots fit about a size smaller then labeled. Still comfortable and can wear them all day bit cant wear large warm socks like I planned. Second issue is these boots are not waterproof. My feet got wet aalking through wet grass and I could feel the water entering the boots when I walked through about 1 to 2 inches of water. Very disappointed with the lack of waterproofing.

I am beyond embarrassed and disappointed. I bought these for my coworker for his 60th birthday. He was so excited and went to try them on. He pulled the string to undo the knot and the string just broke. I'm not even sure how the strings were laced in the first place. we were in a group and it just made these shoes seem cheap/knock-off in front of everyone. I will be returning these tomorrow. So embarrassed as I had to validate that these were a legit pair of Merrells :(
