Tried the 10.5 and was a tad small. Exchanged for the size11and were a tad bit large. A bit stiff. I have a weird foot so hopefully i can buy some inserts to make them fit better. With wear, maybe they will break in easily.

These boots were comfortable right out of the box. My only complaint is that they are slightly narrow. (I am trying to use a shoe stretcher to help.) The traction and support are excellent. I bought these waterproof boots to wear in light snow conditions. However, these are not really insulated, so I will probably not wear them when the temperature dips below 20°F.

My teenage son needed replacements for the Merrell Moab hikers he has used consistently for years (in many different sizes as he grew) but wanted a waterproof version in a boot this time. He had usually had the shoe in the ventilated version. The Moab in that version did not fit the same as the ones he had been using and he found this one, the Alverstone, worked better this time. I will say I am now convinced that Merrell shoes do run about a half size bigger than the big name brands in athletic shoes. We had to go a half size smaller in this than in the athletic shoe we also bought. I do believe the sizing is consistent with other Merrell shoes. He choose the black with orange accents and I will say I thought it looked a little nicer/dressier than the usual hiker. That's certainly not important on the trail hiking but if someone is looking for a good "I'm on my feet all day" shoe to wear for work I would say that color is a good option.

I've only worn these three times. They fit and feel like the six or seven other pairs of Merrel's I've worn over the past several years. Merrel's are my favorite shoe - always fit, always comfortable, always long lasting. Merrel seems to have a good team of designers as well. When I go to buy a pair in a store, Merrel's always stand out immediately. I bought this particular shoe, the Alverstone Mid Waterproof, for cycling. The ankle height of the shoe gives me some confidence in dealing with low lying obstacles and scratchy vegetation. They grip good. The laces stay tight and if I have to jump off the bike and trek through some rough terrain I'm all set.

I loved the look of these from the first time I saw them and was not disappointed. The fit is spot on as usual. I currently have 12 pairs of assorted Merrell boots and shoes and the sizing is consistent across all. Well made, comfortable and look great!

Shoe felt great as soon as i put them on. Fairly comfortable right out of the box. Let's see how they hold up.

Won't stay tied up. But they are pretty. Buy but don't make them your main pair of boot.

Good quality but too tight in toe box. I've worn Jungle Mocs for years as my go to work shoe. Always size 10. I ordered size 10 but they were too tight perhaps should have ordered 10.5. Returned the the shoes and still shopping.

Nice looking boots. My favorite look from the Merrell line since 2010. NOT the most comfortable. Im on my feet working all day and by about hour 4, I start getting excrutiating feet pain and my back starts hurting. Ive never had this while wearing merrells before.

I have had a pair of these for a little while and they seemed to be ok at first and then they started to seep water inside. I am not happy with this and only bought these because I need waterproof shoes. Other than that they are good fitting.

The shoes have a wider opening through the lacing area which was not apparent when I viewed the shoes online, and it may contribute to a significant problem with the shoes, and that is keeping them tied. Short of double-knotting them ( a pain in the neck for everyday wear), I simply cannot keep them tied. No matter how firmly I pull the knot when I tie the shoes (like I have for every other pair of shoes that I've had that lace) the knots come untied in a very brief period of time, especially if I'm walking or moving around. The laces are part of the issue. They may look snappy, but the slick texture and the round shape are not conducive to keeping knots tied. If this had been my first pair of Merrell's, I probably would not buy another. As it is, I've had enough other good Merrell's that I'd try another, but with caution.

Nice looking shoe and fits very comfortably, BUT when your foot is planted firmly on the ground and every step you take your heel feels very unstable. What I mean by unstable is it feels like the heel of your foot wants to roll either way. I wish this wasn't so because I really like the look of these shoes. I am sorry Merrell but I will be returning them.

Typically narrow Merrell boots, run half size small as usual. Arches feel rather odd and sit high towards the heel.

I like the shoe right out of the box, but was way too small. Normally wear a size 12 and these were about a full size too small. Recommend ordering a size up from your usual footwear

I have owned multiple Merrell shoes and boots and have always found the 13 R to have a spacious toe box unlike many other brands. This model fits more like a 12 R. Not sure if these were labeled incorrectly, but they appeared small upon initial inspection and proved to be too small and narrow.

The shoes made a sound like someone crunching a plastic water bottle. Very distracting while walking indoors.

I've had these boots for nine months with light use. They were a bit stiff to start but are pretty comfortable now. Today was the first time the "waterproof" claim was put to the test, and it was a total failure. As soon as the water reached the mesh around the toes my feet were soaked. Very disappointed.

I've been wearing these daily for two months. I like the look and the athletic feel of them. These are narrower than most shoes. If you foot is on the wide side, definitely go with the wide width. The reason for two stars is because of the claim that they're waterproof. That's one of the main reasons I bought this shoe. I take my dog for a walk most mornings on the trails and the grass is usually wet. If I wear these, my socks get soaked and I have to let the shoes dry the rest of the day before I can wear them again. They are NOT waterproof.

Only six days into using these shoes the bottoms are already falling apart. Its hard to justify my continuing of buying merrell shoes as they only last 3-4 months before completely worthless. I use these shoes for work ( not in extremely harsh conditions) and hoped they would last longer. The shoe itself is extremely comfortable and looks great. Shame the quality isn't there. Sorry Merrell.
