The shoe is well made but these are hard on my feet, the last pair of Merrell's I had fit really snug around my toes, so this time I bumped it up a half size. When I first put them on I thought they fit pretty good but after working in the yard and walking my dogs a few times, these shoes just destroy my feet... The pain is more than I can bear and by the end of the day, I could barely walk. I wish I would have noticed sooner they just don't fit as well as I first thought. I wouldn't want to discourage someone from trying this shoe but for me, a person with flat feet they just didn't work out as I expected.

Got these shoes as a replacement for my first pair of Merrells. First thing I noticed was the size was too small. I ordered an 11, felt more like a 10. Next, I wanted to test the "waterproofing" first puddle I stepped in water started to leak in around my little toe. The water dried very quickly but was not waterproof. And finally i am returning these after 4 months of having them. The eyelet ripped where the shoestring attached.
First pair I bought were awesome, I'm sad they only lasted 6 months. The second pair a little under par. I'm really hoping the third will set things right.

I was pretty disappointed in the Merrell Alverstone Waterproof. The "Olive" color is really, really dark, 'Charcoal Green' might be a more accurate name for the color. Aside from the color, the sizing wasn't right either. These felt narrower than my other Merrells and the toebox area really cut into my big toe. I could get my foot into them, but they would have wrecked my feet if I had attempted to break them in. I was also very disappointed in the build quality. Compared to Allout Blazes or even Jungle Mocs, the Alverstone Waterproof felt flimsy and cheap. They had kind of a cardboard feel to them.

Not enough room in the toe area, felt tight. A half size larger would have been to big.

Sent them back. They are bulky, small, and VERY WARM. I believe the waterproof material retains heat. The reddish color is weird also

I like the color. Unfortunately, the fit was not right. I've worn other Merrell shoes that fit great an ordered that size. I'll give them to a friend or my brother.

Similar to the Moab but not as comfortable. Not completely disappointed, this shoe still has good performance ( tread, and flex ).

Poor value because of lack of attention to detail, the shoe laces are too short to double knot, necessary because they are round slippery type which I really like if they are long enough, they are not, they are about 8-10 inches shorter than they should be compared to my other running shoes. That is poor respect for the customer.

I love Merrells, but something is going on with them lately. I usually wear an 8-1/2 W, but my last pair (which I’m wearing now) was a 9W. I reordered that size and the shoes were so long, I could easily put my index finger in behind my heel and wiggle it. So I exchanged for 8.5W, and just tried them on and they feel too snug in both length and width. I’m calling customer service to arrange a return and figure out what I can order next. I hike 4 - 6 miles per day and need to replace this pair.

I've had these shoes for a couple of years. They are reasonably comfortable, with a caveat: they twist a little on my feet when hiking on rocky terrain. But though they started off reasonably waterproof, they no longer are. On an 8-mile hike recently through a damp forest, my feet were soaked halfway through.

The oddly shaped arch support is what led me to return these - it felt extremely narrow and high on the inner part of the arch. When I first put them on I thought I had forgotten to remove all of the paper stuffing, as it felt like something was pressing into the bottom of my foot. Very uncomfortable from the get-go.

I have always loved your shoes until the past few months. I purchased 2 pairs of these shoes and both pairs have worn out inside the shoe on the heal within 2-3 months! I just don't understand it. I am 64 years old, not rough with shoes and use them to take long walks with the dog. For as much as they cost I expected to get a little more service from them. By the way this is the only brand that I have that wear out this way. Maybe need to start using quality materials? Very disappointed.

Hated the soles. It felt like half of a golf ball was buried in the shoe

We got this as a replacement from another pair bought and got ripped within a few weeks. We thought was a defective pair. But now it happens again. I was not expecting that from Marell.

The fit of the heel area fit too loosely. This was my second pair of Alverstone, but these were the waterproof style. Was this a one-off or reason for deep discount?

I've owned several pairs of Merrells, always the same size. This time they did not fit and the quality of the workmanship just wasn't that great either. So I returned them.

Unfortunately these WP shoes sound like you're walking with food cling wrap on your feet. That must be how you keep your feet dry? I actually think the sound is coming from the glue used for the insole. Every step feels like the insole is popping or crinkling under foot. I have video to show, just flexing the shoe like you're stepping makes a similar sound but video isn't on YT, so I can't upload it here. Take cling wrap and crunch it up in your hand and that's the sound it makes.
So, there's no way I can wear these indoors and it's too intrusive of a sound to wear them in nature. Probably just a bad shoe; never had a problem with other WP Merrell shoes.

I own multiple pairs of Merrell's and these inexplicably are incredibly painful to wear. They put extreme pressure on the top of my left foot forcing me to return these for a larger size. This hasn't helped and I'll be returning as soon as I can.

The fit and size were fine. The traction is good. These shoes are not Waterproof, not even mildly water-resistant. Walking 100 yards thru dew damp grass in the morning has them soaked through. The nylon loop for the top lace broke after about 10 times of use. I was very disappointed with these shoes. I expect better quality from Merrell. I do not recommend these.

It was smaller than my other outdoor boots. With socks it would be a lond day and very sore feet. Ever thing look good and the size was the issue.

Not a true wide merrell. Compared to Moab 2 and other merrell products, this is not a wide shoe.

One of the red fabric lace eyelets pulled out after less than 8 months of very modest wear in city. Not pleased. Prior Merrill designed seemed more robust.
