Fit and style was good and they look great and my son loves them, says they are comfortable and lives they are water proof

I am returning these shoes because they feel small. I have been wearing Merrell Moab for years and tried the Aleverstone in the same size, 9.5 and my toes were hitting the end of the shoe. The toe box and overall width of the shoe also felt narrow compared to my Moabs. I am hoping this is not a new trend to Merrell shoes, a change in shoe last to a narrower shoe as this is the second pair of Merrell shoes that is presenting with a narrower toe box. Keen did this years a a few years back and I can no longer wear their shoes. I do not have super-wide feet, but I like a roomy toe box.

Fit great right out of the box!

I am pleased with the shoe. I will know how they are for durability when I have them a while. I will know how the waterproofing is when I wear them in the rain.

Aside from the shoe being a half size too small (in the toe area) I liked them. Returned this pair and ordered another a half size larger.

The sides are too high making them uncomfortable, I know I'd get blisters if I wore these out in the forest. Got a 14 when im usually a 13 due to reviews, it was a tad too big. Have to return.

Liked the shoe but didn’t like the sound of cracking plastic. I don’t know what they have sewn into the fabric, but it sounds like a wrapper from that crappy red candy.

This is the only style that fits my foot - I need a wide sneaker. The Moab Wide is still cut too narrow for my toes. But the Alverstone is like walking on a cloud, roomy, yet provides great support. I hope Merrell will make more varieties with this kind of width. The olive was sold out so I bought the grey, which is a bit lighter in color than I would like.

Overall a very comfortable shoe. Laced too tight, the sides cut into my ankle, but a great everyday waterproof shoe.

We liked the shoes, unfortunately one of the eyelets that the top shoe string should go through was loose and falling off.

I really wanted to like these shoes but they just didn't fit me as well as other Merrell styles. I really like the look of the shoe & it appeared to be well made. I usually wear a size 9 but they were too short (toes were right at the tip of the shoe). I tried a 9 1/2 which fit better but it just didn't fit/feel well. I guess because the fit wasn't right I didn't get the usual great arch support feel I have gotten with other/older Merrell's. I returned them & bought a pair of Merrell Intercept's size 9 1/2 which fit/feel great; comfy right out of the box & the arch support is excellent. NOTE: The first pair of Alverstone's I received had a noticeable ridge on the top of the shoe near the toe area. I returned them & received a second pair which had a similar ridge but it was much less pronounced. If the shoes had fit/felt better, I wouldn't have minded the lesser noticeable ridge. Zappo's makes online shoe shopping a breeze!

I first tried a pair of $130 Keens that were very good quality but my heels always began hurting after about 6 hours in them and they felt stiff. I then ordered the less expensive Alverstone pair and quickly realized they are keepers! Sent the Keens back and I would like to get another pair of Alverstones in another color. They have a sole with "Air Cushion" in the heel that really put a little spring in your step! I got the water proof version and that feature already came in handy on one rainy dog walk. Would like to try a Wide version even though I am a moderate size 10 though they seem pretty true to width.

Had to return. The inside foot bed of the shoe strongly tilts your foot at an angle from inside to outside. It was so extreme that it felt like it would increase my odds of rolling an ankle. I can't figure out why anyone would want shoes that tilt outward like that. Very strange design. Pretty ugly shoes too - but I knew that when I ordered them.
