The fit was true to size. It is comfortable, hardly know you have them on and as stylish as any hiking shoes I've seen. I love the brown color and with the gold/yellow trim. I have a similar Merrell high top hiking boot and they're stylish and comfortable as well. I'm very pleased with my choice and dealing with Zappos is as convenient as it gets.

Right out of the box, the most comfortable Merrell shoes I have ever worn. I have worn them to work every day for two weeks and they fit like a glove.

Love these shoes. Comfortable out of the box. Spent 2 weeks in Scotland through bogs, mud, puddles and rain. Feet were always dry. Always order a 9.5M, but they were too narrow. Ordered same size in Wide and they were perfect. Would definitely recommend.

These shoes looked "interesting" on Zappos.com, and when I received them two days later it was love at first sight. After putting them on and walking across the room they became my favorite shoes. I have owned Merrill shoes for years, but mostly Keen. Now I favor both. They are great! And now I see a "mid" style is offered! Hmm.

Always wear a medium width, but found this to be too narrow. Ordered it in wide and it works. Nice shoe. Will see how it works over time.

My husband is very happy with the shoes, was first time I ordered a shoe for him, he needs a wide and there are hard to find in the store... shoe fits perfect, and will order again

Right on the money

I am a female who has "problem" feet--very wide across the ball but average heel, high arch, high instep, bunion & hammer toes, scar tissue in my ankle that makes my feet go to sleep if shoes are too tight (you get the idea). I have been searching for months for a lightweight, comfortable, waterproof walking/hiking shoe that can be my "everything" shoe while traveling. I wear a women's 8.5 Wide, and ordered these in men's 7 Wide after discovering that Merrell does NOT make the women's Alverstone Waterproof in Wide (Merrell: please fix this!). If I could have gotten these in a men's 6.5 Wide, they would have been perfect, but even the 7 Wide is heaven compared to medium width shoes. They are much lighter than my previous hiking shoes, and they feel great on my feet--a shoe I can wear all day. I ordered the Castlerock color, which is actually darker gray than in the photos, and I love them.
