Lightweight and provides great sun-protection. I have used this top to backpack in Hawaii and to go rock climbing in British Columbia. I am fare-skinned, burn easily and sweat a lot while doing activities. This top breathed well and gave me piece of mind to be in the sun while not being too hot of a layer. The fabric is quite thin and I found it got caught on twigs, never ripped, but I have some pilling on my older top (I have two).

Great shirt, we have several of these. Still prefer the hooded 1/4 zip. The performance and materials are the same

I love this hoody so much that I ordered a second one. The material is so lightweight, breathable, and comfortable that you forget its there and can fully focus on your activity. I use it for trail running, climbing, paddling, and any activity out in the sun. The bad part - maybe it's just a me thing, but I hate when shirts are too tight on my armpits. I'm 5'3" and 120 lbs and I'm a sweater. The arm and torso lengths were fine. The first one I ordered was a men's small and it fit perfectly and had a back zipper pocket for keys and a drawstring around the neck. For my second one I tried ordering a women's small, but am returning it because it's way too tight on the armpits and didn't have the pocket and drawstring features. I think I'm going to replace it with another men's small. If you can figure out the right size, this would make a fabulous gift for active folks in your life (and yourself!)

I love this layer over my hiking shirt. The color is nice and overall it has a good fit. The shirt Is thin but really warm. I like that is is easy to throw into my daypack without taking up much space or adding weight. My only complaints are that the sleeves are too short and the material around the neck is too tight.

love the fabric and how it breathes, just wish that it was a little more coverage like some of my other sun shirts. Granted, I have long arms (I'm almost 6') but a larger hood and longer sleeves to cover hands would be great.

Came here to make note of the weight. The website says the women's echo hoody is 2.3oz. I just purchased a medium in "Hydrangea" color, it weights 3.8oz on my scale.

This is a very light weight top. The pictures led me to believe this was a hoodie that had a little warmth, however, the material is extremely thin and breathable. I wore it on a long bike ride and it did protect from sun, but I needed to add layers when it rained or the wind picked up. It also fits a little bigger. Despite these minor complaints, I still like the top a lot and think it will be great for some of my adventures.

I am an Outdoor Educator and spend a lot of time working and playing in the sunshine. I bought one of these a year ago and absolutely loved it. I wore it everyday on a 21-day JMT hike, I wore it on many whitewater trips, took it to Patagonia for a 3 month climbing trip, climbed a bunch in the sun...it was my go-to for staying covered and protected from the sun. It had a few runs in the fabric but nothing major; overall I was impressed with how well it held up.
I just bought a new Echo Hoody for this summer season and am not so happy with it. The fabric does seem to be a little lighter than last years model but I don't think it is nearly as durable. On my first day wearing it the stitching on the lower hem started to come undone and it already had a few runs in the fabric. See the photos I posted. I have only worn it for a few days and it continues to get more runs.
I am careful with my gear and try to make it last as long as possible. I don't know what is different about this hoody but it does not seem to be as durable as my last one and I am not so impressed with its rapid wear-out.

Used this hiking for sun and wind protection. Lightweight and comfortable. I'm 5'4" and 120 lbs. I ordered the small and probably could have done with an extra small.

A brief caveat, I have not field tested this yet. But I like the features of this hoodie. It feels very light weight, great for warm sunny days in the mountains. The sleeve length is great for covering the backs of hands, and the ponytail hole in the hood is a great idea. My only complaint is the color options. Black, grey or pastels? OR, help a girl out! Enough with the pastels! I would love some women's gear in a forest green, or a deeper blue, or even a true yellow or red. Primary colors! I'm so tired of the pinks and pale colors. Please?

This shirt is awesome except for the fact that it smells if you sweat in it. And you likely will, because it's a sun shirt. Other outdoor companies have technology that doesn't smell, so while I kept this shirt, I ended getting other similar shirts elsewhere. Mainly bc I can wear them more than once and they don't smell. However, I do still wear this shirt - especially on bike rides and fly fishing.

I would actually like to return it as the size does not fit me well and the fabric easily snags and scratches.

Wife was very annoyed at this difference.

Super lightweight and breathable. Comfortable against skin. Those cuffs are a very poor design choice. This is supposed to be a warm weather sun shirt. Why would I need "mitts" to fold over my fingers, rendering my hands useless? When the mitts aren't in use, it makes the cuffs a double layer and too hot. Please change the design to have thumb holes, like the men's version, which allows us to protect our hands from sun while still being able to use them.

Super light, love the fit. Can see how it can easily tear by Velcro or hitting a branch in the wilderness. The one complaint I have is that both of mine that I got seem to get stinky quickly? I don't own any other piece of gear that smells quite as much as this one- just a single day's wear, too! Hard to rationalize bringing this on trail vs a merino- even though it may be heavier, it won't smell bad?

I love this shirt but I cannot understand why on the mens version they put nice thumb holes but then in the womens version these weird baby gloves that completely prevent the use of your fingers! WHY? I would just buy a men's version but I like the ponytail hole on the hood

Love the feel of the material but it is a SUPER different color than pictured! I got clay/crimson and the photo looks mid/darker purple/red - what I got is a fuscia/bright pink hoodie. I'm a bit disappointed but don't want to go through the hassle of a return :( I also am regularly a small but sized up to a medium for a looser fit - thank goodness I did! I fits nicely as a medium, what I would have expected from a small in most other brands. Size up!

Bought this specifically for skiing to provide full cover against snow sun reflection. The double / triple layer cuffs with the fold over mitts are really annoying. They make my wrists hot when the sleeves are all the way down, make it hard to push the sleeves up. Since I bought this as a hot weather long sleeve there is no need for the fold over mitts. You can't use your hands with the mitts folded over, any time I would want to it is better to use gloves. Also, if I'm cold enough to want mitts over my hands I am going to have another layer on. Make the cuffs the same as the mens version! I ended up cutting the cuffs off mine and hemming them, so much nicer with looser airy cuffs.
Also wasn't keen on any of the colors, settled on pebble. Would have preferred a light and bright color like sky blue, orange, lemon yellow - anything but purple and pink please.
I would recommend this to a friend but I would help them cut the cuffs off.

I have many of the Echo line of shirts from OR and have really loved all of them. This one seemed a no brainer to add; but it didn't quite meet my expectations. The color, the color was the first shock. My screen showed "Samba" as red, albeit on the orange side of red. It is not red; it is orange--almost safety orange. I got over that and decided if it did what I want I wouldn't care about the color. The fit, that was the next shock--it seems to run quite a bit bigger than other Echo shirts. I am 5'7" and 140 lbs and typically take a Medium. The medium in this was huge; very wide in the body and very loose arms. I wanted to love it--okay at least like it--but I realized it probably would never get into the outdoors and that isn't fair, so it will go back. I had no issues with quality or design, and I may reorder in a small in Black or Gray.

I thought this was a dark purply/red color but not at ALL. It's basically bright pink. Not sure who took the photos and not sure who decided to call that crimson... Also runs a bit small.

I Had high hopes but tends to snag easily and is a very tight fit. I had a men's small that was easily more comfortable around my biceps. Still snags but I'll take it.

I have had my first Echo Hoodie for three years, living in the tropics and loving its protection and breathability. The second one was/is beautiful.....until I washed it. the fabric pulled in three places the first time. The second washing, the hem stitching pulled out and tangled all my laundry. I'm returning this shirt. The fabric and workmanship are not of the same quality as the first shirt.

I only bought this because I thought it was 2.3 oz (listed on this website), which would have been incredibly light. Instead it is over 3.8 (size M). The hood is also far too small for me and normal thumbholes would have been better than mitts
