I have some wool hoody's from icebreaker that are just like this - a lightweight hoody that you can layer over top of a t-shirt. Was looking for something lighter weight in humid summers (live in mountain southeast) and these are perfect. Very impressed with the synthetic material - wicks incredibly well. Bought a second one and some t-shirts as well. I am 5'6" with an athletic build (broad shoulders, narrow hips); 125#. I got smalls in the t-shirts and a medium in this because I layer with it. The small in this (I tried it) was too snug in arms/shoulders for me to layer. Great versatile everyday piece.

I keep buying these because thy're the most breathable sun shirts I've found. I do wish the fabric didn't snag quite so easily, but I suppose I can't expect everything to stand up to lots of desert bushwhacking. Aside from the comfortable fabric: (and as a person who frequently wears my hair in a ponytail and likes to pull my sleeves over my hands) I do think the hand cuffs and ponytail hole are totally unnecessary.

Love this sun hoody for the warmer days in the bay area! Appropriately cool and blocks the sun.

This works great, super light weight and breathable. I work on a glacier so the sun protection is awesome. I can protect my whole upper body without getting hot. Would recommend for sure.

Very lightweight. Great for sunny desert hiking or boating. Wish it came in different colors.

I saw a similar product to this when I was on a course for outdoor rock climbing guides, worn by two of the instructors. We were on a sunny exposed cliff and I thought it looked like an ideal lightweight layer for hot weather to manage sun exposure. This product exceeded my expectations. I've worn it rock climbing, casually and white water kayaking so far and it was wonderful in all those uses. I don't like clingy material and somehow this manages to be lightweight yet flattering and not clingy. It's a clever feature being able to put your ponytail out of the back, which comes into its own when wearing a helmet to get hair out of the way but also protect the back of your neck.

Lightweight and comfy long sleeve. Very breathable. Good shirt for backcountry skiing in the spring or hiking in the summer. The shirt fits nicely while allowing air to move through the shirt and keep you cool. The hood fits nicely and keeps the sun off of your neck. Great long sleeve. Colour is also a pretty, light shade of lavendar.

I use it alpine touring in weather between 0-7 celsius under a softshell, and have all the other OR version of the fabric, tank, short sleeves, and long sleeves. So climbing, mtb, running, I just love it, I basicly have all the colors!

Lightweight and fits true to size. I am 5' 5" 120lbs and got an extra small. It was perfect for an all day hike out in the desert sun.

Wore this to climb and ski Mt. Adams and it protected me from the sun without getting too hot. Fits well, too.

I work outside in the desert, and I hate sunscreen. I have tried so many different sun shirts, and I keep coming back to this one. The fabric is delicate and very snag-prone, but it's the only one that I've found to be comfortable all day when it's above 90 degrees. I have three generations of the Echo sun hoody, and the one I purchased in May of 2019 is by far the best. The fabric has always been awesome, but the 2019 updates are really great. The sleeves seem a little bit longer on this updated version (I found the sleeves to be too short on previous versions), and the fitted hood this year is SO MUCH BETTER than the 'stylish' v-neck of years past. I still think the hand mitts are pretty silly, but they don't really detract from the usefulness of the product overall. I'll keep buying this for sure.

I used this hoodie on an overnight backpacking/scrambling trip and fell in love. I wore it both days and it only started to smell in the car ride home because I forgot to bring deodorant and was pretty dehydrated (TMI for a review but important facts for me haha) I always forget to pack sunscreen and this protected my arms from the sun while keeping me cool in the hot humid air. I even slept in it and was extremely comfortable. I will be wearing this layer on most of my backpacking/climbing trips this summer and I am excited to see how it holds up!

Wore it up a multi pitch the other day. Perfect during a rather cloudy, but warm/muggy day. Wicks away moisture incredibly well. I have a feeling this will quickly become my go to for most climbing adventures.

I'm super stoked on the echo hoody. I've been wearing it for field work in the desert and it's been so lovely to not have to worry about religiously applying sunscreen every two hours. It's breathable and cooling. I've been having to wear it for five days straight and while sure, it smells a bit at the end of the work week, it's no where near to how bad it could be. The only thing that's odd about the hoody are the mittens, I feel like thumb holes would be a better option as I need to use my fingers pretty much constantly unless I'm hiking. That's an easy fix though with sungloves or sunscreen. I'm ordering another one right now.

Last year's version of this shirt was great, and got me through many glacier and snow climbs (and unfortunately it also shows the wear). This year's version is even better, and I LOVE the hood redesign: the hood actually stays in place and covers everything I need. They also removed those useless side pockets. I wore the shirt on a recent 11 hour alpine trek, in full sunshine which also reflected off the snow. It's very lightweight, so I stayed cool for the climb. I like the pastel color choices, as I mostly expect to use this as a sunshirt during the summer. It catches on things (velcro!) very easily, though, and seems to get snags just by being looked at. And I still cannot figure out how those doubled cuffs are supposed to be used - I wish they'd just made thumb loops instead!

Use this in the humid Northeast for bugs, and alpine adventures for sun protection. Also for running when there's a little breeze. Great all around layer, light and comfortable

Love this modern lightweight hoodie! Was a little hesitant about the price at first but ended up finding it on sale. I've been living in it ever since! Great layering piece, but perfect on its own when a jacket is too much. Fits true to size, I'm 5'2 120lbs and bought a small, it's relaxed but not loose & sloppy. Unlike another reviewer, I loved the color choices! I have the orange and plan to purchase the grey or black as well.
