Love this jacket, on number two now after wearing out the first one. Fit is good, I like the long fit for backpacks and harnesses and like that the hood does not get pulled down while wearing it all together.

Southern Alberta has high winds, this jacket blocked them all. Very light, stretchy material that you would expect from the Ferrosi line but totally windproof! Fits true, worth every penny. Don't hesitate, just get yours.

I had gotten the non hooded ferrosi in a large since that's the jacket size I normally wear (I'm 6ft with a 6ft arm span and 180lbs on a good day). I like to have a bit of extra space on my coats. I don't normally have issues with sleeve length in large coats. The sleeves with the ferrosi were way too long to even use the thumb holes effectively. Good for a run since I can get my sleeves over my hands just in case. I opted to get a medium with this one and it fits much better. The sleeves are a proper length. The downside for me is that in the body it feels a little slim, but I guess that's what this type of coat is meant for; nothing too heavy underneath. This works very well for Seattle weather where it will rain for a bit then the sun will come out. The breathability of this jacket is quite impressive and I don't feel too hot under the sun.

Good fit. Seems well made while still being lightweight. Should be a great jacket to keep in the car for those times when it's just breezy enough to need something light to throw on. The color is awesome.

So far this light weight wind breaker is great. It packs down incredibly small, and provides a great protection from wind and slight rain.

Great so far, good fit without being too long or baggy. Have worn for fishing, cycling, light touring/splitboarding in usual spring weather. Perfect balance of wind blocking while still breathing, being water resistant and staying flexible. Bigger pockets that could hold skins would be a plus.

Very well pleased with my Ferrosi Jacket. It makes for the perfect windbreaker yet light layer for chilly days or less than ideal weather. It also remains very breathable and durable which makes me look forward to all the use I'm going to get out of this Jacket on my adventures!

I wear it all the Ferrosi nearly year round. Even in the cold weather here in Southern Georgia with a fleece underneath the breathability of the jacket allows me to do whatever I need to with great comfort. On the beach in the colder months the wind resistance still keeps me warm and in the springtime with no fleece it is sooooo comfortable. I even used it the same way in Gatlinburg, Tn when I lived there. I has gotten me through so many adventures. It holds up in wet weather so well too. It is the best jacket I own and I actually told my wife recently I want to be buried in it! Not kidding!

As stated, this jacket is now a permanent item for me on every trip. Comfortable and water resistant (tested), light and easy to pack. It is not a cold weather jacket. Depending on your hot/cold comfort, I wouldn't take this out below 50. I loved this jacket so much, I bought one for my son and for my dad.

Great fit and style, the material appears very durable and the pockets mesh is very comfortable. Water beads quickly. If you are looking for more wind resistance you might go with the micro grid fleece version, or wear a heavier LS undershirt cold, gusty, wind does come in if you are wearing a short sleeve or lightweight long sleeve. Overall very happy with the jacket.

Initial review, 6'2", 210#, 61YO, M, fit build. Was looking for a versatile, lightweight shell, primarily for hiking. Have used this on a few winter/early spring snow shoe treks, hiking in the Cascades. Really happy with this so far, fit is spot on (XL), roomy enough for layering underneath but not too loose. Fabric is stretchy and moves well, design is spot on. Spot on for most common weather conditions here, will NOT keep you dry all day in a driving rain, it's NOT a rain coat. It will keep you dry in the light rain/drizzle common in the PNW and is great in the mountains when you've got frost/snow melt dripping off the trees and and getting "snow bombed". I sweat a lot, and it breathes really well, on ascents just a long sleeved tech tee layered underneath down to freezing, then an additional base layer or vest for descents. Dries quickly. Any waterproof/breathable fabric is a compromise, I lean on the side of breathable as I sweat a lot when climbing, Gore-Tex is good but not permeable enough, full on raincoat, forget it, might as well wear a garbage bag. So for day hiking in variable conditions, this will ALWAYS be in my pack.

I'm new to the overwhelming world of outdoor gears. I am not keen on those popular brands such as TNF, Patagonia, and Arcteryx, since most people wear them. I came across OR online and did some research on their products. I found their Ferrosi line seems to hit a nice balance of functionality and value and seems to be great fit for what I do (casual hiker and other outdoor activities). I just got my Ferrosi jacket and pants, they fit me really well and seem to be of great quality. Love them so far. No cons so far, all pros. Will come back if I find any cons to add.

This jacket is great. . I've found it scales well with the temperature. It keeps me relatively warm when it's cool out and cool when it's hot out. It's also super lightweight with UV protection, so it's nice to wear when hiking or when there's very light rain.

Once upon a time, in the darkness of nothingness. There was a voice...and this voice said "let there be 1 jacket to rule them all." And what was sent forth was this very jacket. The outdoor research Ferrosi jacket! (in navy blue lol) Agile enough to dodge attacks, strong enough to protect flesh, coated with a spell of "wind protect" with a slight touch of "wet-be-gone." Even has little holes for my thumbies lol. But absolutely love this jacket for hiking and would buy again in a heart beat!

Fits Exquisitely! Perfect hood and pocket locations. Overall great. Note that this is a very light jacket, not much thicker than a long sleeve tee shirt.

Really high quality and versatile. I use it mainly to run when it's colder outside or as an outer layer for going uphill when backcountry skiing. Also perfect for hiking and snowshoeing in contexts where a hard shell might be too warm.

You "could" use this as a casual jacket when you want a bit of a windbreaker layer, but it works so much better in the mountains. I've used it for biking but mostly for climbing and approaches. Its very breathable for approaches and I even use it in winter for approaching ice climbs. It doesn't offer much warmth but it breaks the wind well and the fabric is very abrasion resistant. Great layer for those warmish but windy days and when getting up close and personal with rough rock. Adjust your mid layers for warmth and this is a fantastic shell. Its no way water proof, and even water resistant is a bit of a stretch but in a light mist or brief passing shower, it drys really quickly when a hard shell would make you wet from sweat. I've used it in light snow for winter approaches and if you brush the snow off you'll stay dry. This workhorse deserves its accolades.
