Nice jacket but thin. I was hoping for a more heavy duty soft shell. This jacket is the opposite. Its thin like a running jacket. I am not really sure what to wear it for.

Great jacket however the Solaria color stains very easily from dirt. Also, the thickness of the fabric isn't as durable or thick as I had thought for a shell. Overall, I wear this jacket almost every day and so far, no problems!

The jacket it self is stellar, but the sleeves are super long and the elastic cuffs are not very tight. The sleeves frequently slide down past my hands.

As with all of my outdoor gear (particularly clothing) I tend to buy mine "off season" or during sales. Having read about / seen reviews about the Ferrosi line for quite some years, I bit the bullet and purchased this jacket for a fraction of the cost of new. Buying like I do, saves money, but often limits available colors and sizes. I bought this particularly as a shoulder season jacket for bikepacking. Upon receiving it, the jacket seemed lighter than I expected, but that was fine. What wasn't fine? Extremely looooong sleeves...and as others have noted..."odd" thumb holes. However, for the sale price, quality seams and assembly, and Outdoor Research warranty....I can live with those issues. I will, though, have a local tailor, sew some small Velcro patches at the sleeve to close the gap, and some to fold and hold the hood (to better seal against wind, and to prevent the hood annoying flapping while riding my bike). I also, really appreciate the high visibility colors, which incidentally remained available long after conventional colors disappeared.

The perfect go anywhere, packable jack. Great rain and wind proof outer layer. Breathable, yet warm. Great Pockets are accessible, even with gloves on. has become my constant companion on the trail and during my commute.

I do miss the waffle pattern insulation of my previous jacket but since it's starting to warm up this jacket is proving its usefulness. The sierras this past weekend it helped with the constant changes in wind and because it breathes so well I could keep it on to help keep the sun off my skin. It packed down pretty good, so brought it on a trail run and it once again did its thing when a random storm cloud started to drizzle on us.

It's a great warm weather wind breaker that I utilize here in Florida. This is light and durable and makes for a versatile rain and wind resistant jacket. The only gripe I have is that it is cut a little slimmer than I like.

Overall, I like the jacket. The jacket's material is thin (slightly thinner than I expected) but it works well. Has been great for walking/hiking/running. As other reviews have indicated, the sleeves really are quite long. Probably could be about 1.5-2 inches shorter.

Great wind breaker. Not much to hold in heat so might want to layer. Good sleeve length.

Love the jacket! Recently I have been having to work outside in super windy conditions and this thing has been a joy to own. Plenty of pockets built into it for your storage needs. Very light so much that it doesn't even feel like you're wearing a jacket. Only thing that is holding the thing back from 5 stars is there are some stitching coming undone after only about 2 months of use.

I use this jacket for just about everything, ie. backcountry skiing, hiking, running, etc. The jacket is not as good a windbreaker as coated nylon jackets. The fit for me is perfect.

Overall, I like the jacket. An older Ferrosi Hooded Jacket I had was a medium and it fit great. The newer model in medium, the sleeves are way too long, at least 2" too long. So I exchanged it with the small. The sleeves are perfect in a small but the length of the jacket is shorter than I like. I like the addition of the two internal pockets in the newer model. If the sizing would go back to the earlier model, I would buy some more in different colors.

Used it only a couple of times so far. The sleeves are a bit baggy, the rest of the fit is fine (Size M for a 5'11" - 165 lbs). I like the fabric, it breathes well while being a decent wind block. I have the ferrosi pants and they are one of my favorite layers for adventures.

Got and have been using as a shell while commuting to work on the bike. Breathes well and has great stretch but was thinner than I thought it was going to be. Also on one of my pocket zippers is a double zipper with a cord both inside and out while the other is not. And I have no Idea why that would be like that...?

5' 10.5", 185 lbs., more pear shape than apple.
Couldn't turn down this jacket when on great sale price. Love the screaming yellow color. Love the stretchiness. Works great in winter for high output, non-stop activities. Cuts just enough wind and water to keep you going. Not highly water or wind resistant, nor insulated. But gives you just that little extra bit needed. Very breathable. Look forward to wearing in spring and fall as a light over-layer, and in the cool summer evenings to keep a little warmth in and bugs out.
Bought both medium and large, kept the medium.
Medium: Sleeves not at all short, chest good with light layer underneath, waist okay. Figure it's not a jacket for lots of winter layering so opted for closer fit. (kept Ferrosi Grid Hoody in large in order to add winter layers).
Large: Insanely long arms, baggy without extra layers underneath, though i prefer the long cut in waist length.

I bought this jacket in medium as I wear almost everything medium.
I am 5'8" and weighs 145 Lbs. My chest is about 39" and waist is 30" and the wing span is 5'10", well, I do not have a beer belly.
I decided to choose the size medium due to my chest size. Typically things get too tight around my shoulder and armpits when I get small.
When I received this jacket, I was so surprised how funky this jacket fits. The sleeves are waaaaaaaaaaaay too long. I mean way too long by good two inches. The fit was too baggy for a medium; I could wear a thick fleece and had a room to put more insulation under the jacket.
I decided to order a small because of this medium sizing. I am happy with the sleeve length but the fit is a little bit on the snug side. There are not much room around my chest and stomach. However I can still wear a medium weight fleece underneath without restricting movements. Thanks to the stretchy material.
The stretching material is just fantastic. I own a similar Eddie Bauer stretchy soft shell jacket in small, which they do not make anymore, and the fit is similar to this.
This jacket is good for climbing but you cannot wear helmet under the hood; you have to wear a helmet over the hood. WHY? And the side pockets are not harness compatible as others have mentioned.
If you are close to my size, (5'8", 145lbs, athlete build) order a Small. IF your waist or belly is more than 32", order medium but sleeves will be definitely too long.

I bought for winter running and it does the trick. This jacket breathes nicely and sheds water better than most soft shells. I would buy again.

Fits great, as advertised. A bit thinner than I was expecting, is pretty much just like a shell. Great water repellant, and is perfect for the trail on those days I need sun protection or to keep the wind off.

I really love the material used in the Ferrosi line, I own the hoody and it is my favorite running top. This jacket is great and fits true to size but the arms are just a bit long. The elastic in the sleeve cuff makes sure the sleeves don't fall down over your hands so it is really a non-issue. This jacket is great for when it's windy or there is a light rain.

Great for layering or on days you just need a light layer. Its very thin and lightweight. If you plan on wearing for warmth on cold days it's probably not the best. But if you just want something to keep a light wind off, or mosquitos, or wear a layer underneath than it's great.

It's very comfortable and light. Great for mildly chilly weather. I.e. I'd bring it on a hike where it might cool off a little. But it's definitely a summer or warm climate jacket.
Only real complaint is that I wish it was just a little bigger so that I could wear an extra layer underneath it.
