Best shoe I found for the advanced arthritis I have in my left big toe. Dont need my custom made orthotics when I wear these. Pricey but they're the only shoes to accommodate that I have found so far. The width on the new generation is not as wide as the previous pair I owned.

If your knees give you trouble this is the shoe for you. The cushioning is soft, yet responsive and sturdy. I used to be a big fan of the Ghost series from Brooks but they changed the cushioning and I feel that the 11 series didn't offer the same comfort. So I decided to switch to this and it has exceeded my expectations.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks Ghost 10 or lower number series

I have been a fan of New Balance shoes for awhile . . . Bought the NB Fresh Foam 1080v9 because of the wider toe box (I need the space for a bunion) and because it was recommended for people who "supinate." I will buy another pair.

I have been wearing Brooks Beast in the past and more recently, two pairs of Brooks Glycerin 15 up until this purchase. These NB 1080v9's are the most comfortable shoes I have worn in some time. I am a walker (4-5 miles per day) and have missed the old NB 1020's and 1120's which were dropped years ago by NB. I am hopeful these will last my normal 6 months until they will need to be replaced. Time will tell but I am very impressed so far. Thanks New Balance for making these shoes and, PLEASE, do not stop making them!

I had the previous version of this shoe and loved it. It's hard to believe but they improved it. I do everything with this sneaker...walk, run, exercise. Only wish there were some more interesting color choices.

The shoes are very light, and fit perfectly. Good arch support too. They seem to have better shoestrings than my last pair, and will stay tied.

Got these in my normal size but in Wide. Toes are right up to tip of shoe, but shoe box not too cramped. I might have been able to go up a half size and have it be a little more roomy. As it is I had to loosen the laces a fair amount to eliminate any tightness across the area behind my toes on top. It pinched there slightly upon first breaking them in but after a few miles it doesn't seem to be an issue. The laces are stretchy which is another nice feature. Water goes right through them, as I found walking after feet of snow had melted for a couple days and stepping through some shallow puddles. Any water goes straight through to your foot, but seems to dry quickly. Foot motion for walking is excellent and after trying these on for the first time, after using a slightly heavier pair of Merrill trail shoes, I immediately doubled my walking distance. It was rather surprising, almost like they had little motors in them. I'm not in the greatest shape, and in an attempt to improve my health and lose a bit of weight, I've started walking daily. The first few weeks were tough and involved a lot of foot and calf problems and tightness. I expected that to lessen as I continued walking but though it improved slightly, it was still an issue. I suffered from tightness in my lower outside of my shins above the ankle area and with these it seemed to lessen. Towards the ends of my walks I tend to fall more heavily in my steps and these were able to cushion the increased shock. These were also nearly a pound lighter than the Merrill's I'd been wearing. They have the large "N" logo which is very reflective for safety, but I was a bit disappointed that they have no reflective pieces on the heel of the shoe at all, so you're not going to be that visible from behind, which is where you need to be the most visible when walking roads after dark. the 990s that I tried before this had a nice reflective piece at the top of the heel. They were very nice, however they had a sort of stiff hump in the sole that landed right on the ball of my feet which didn't feel quite right. And I believe they are more designed with a running stride than for walking. I was drawn to the 1080s by the fact that the heel has a slight upward angle which really helps my stride where my heel lands while walking, and because the forefoot is pretty flexible as well. Disappointed to see so little selection as far as color thought. Just a choice between black on black, grey on black, or white on black. No color at all... other than a bit on the soles. The 990's I'd tried were very nice looking in purple black and white... but alas, they didn't quite feel as good as these. The fresh foam midsoles are very comfortable, but imagine they'll look pretty grubby shortly as they're about as white as white can get and in an area where they'll no doubt pick up plenty of dirt, etc. They're also dimpled and I've found that to attempt to clean them requires a toothbrush and even then it's a bit tough to get them completely clean. It's a porous surface that will likely trap dirt. So if you like your shoes to look pristine... it might be a problem. This is my first pair of shoes that have an inner bootie construction and it's extremely comfortable and light. The shoes are essentially like a very light slipper mounted to a footbed and a cushioned sole. It works. My gait is hard to diagnose. I strike with the very outer part of my heel, but push off with the inner side of my big toe to the point there are callouses on the inner back of my big toes. So it seems I overpronate on the heel and underpronate on the toes. At any rate, this shoe is said to be neutral to under-pronate (suppinate) and it seems to work well with my stride and I feel well balanced. The arch support is fairly slight and didn't come close to touching my arches, so I added an 3/4 orthotic that I found with arch support. It says it's for people who have plantar fasciitis though I don't, but they do give me some arch support that I think I need. At least it feels comfortable. I was concerned that this might raise my heel too high and create slippage on the heel, but I laced them to the furthest back of the two lace holes and snugged up the semi-elastic laces and though there was a very slight slip, they worked fine. I imagine the shoes will only get better with time as they break in, and I'm very excited to have them as they have really increased my walking distance and stamina without a lot of foot and leg pain that I'd encountered. Not the flashiest in the looks department, but solid, comfortable shoes with great cushioning.

Best support cushioning shoes. Much better then the new ASIC I wasted money on. Size and 4E widths are perfect.

Newest version (V9) of a favorite shoe. Love Fresh Foam and this model is just as comfortable. Do a lot of walking from office to site to site, and these keep my feet feeling fine.

I like the New Balance 1080 line, this is the 3rd pair I have purchased. Always comfortable right out of the box, however this version (1080v9) I have noticed that once I put my orthotic in it does feel like my foot sits high in the shoe. Almost like this version is not quite as deep. Overall I am pleased and will continue to buy New Balance. I do wish shoe suppliers would go away from the white soles or offer a choice of a dark sole. I would love to wear these to work (business casual) but the white soles stick out and make them look more casual then I would like.

I purchased these to replace my pair of 1080v7. I've been wearing my 7s for at least two years. I wish I could afford to replace them more often. I use them as all-purpose workout shoes, from HIIT classes twice a week and weightlifting in between. I'm an on and off runner. I weigh 205 pounds and I have wide feet with low arches but I do not over-pronate. The 7s were the perfect fit for me, but as they have worn out, I was starting to touch the front ends of the shoes with my toes, so I opted for the larger size in ordering the 1080v9, a size 11 instead of 10.5. When I bought the 7s, I was right on the border between D and EE - i stuck with the D. Again they were perfect. In the 9s, the 11D was too narrow. The exchange process was awesome, had the 11EE in hand the next day. Still breaking them in, but I think they are too long. I may need to exchange them again to the 10.5EE. Using the Run-Limited guarantee for that, I think. The 9s are light, and comfy - I think they'll do the job, but I really haven't fallen in love with them like I did the 7s when I first put them on. Thus 4 stars instead of 5. I'll probably look to the Fuel Cells or a dedicated cross training shoe next time, and that disappoints me. I though I had found my shoe series for life.

The meshing on the right foot at the big toe has collapsed inward now on two pair of these shoes. I had bought two extra pair as they were on sale. Thankful to be able to return them.

The shoes are a little more white than I would normally buy, but the color I really wanted was $20-30 more (stupid law of supply and demand). They are much lighter than the pair of 1080v8 that I have. They seem just a comfortable though.

These shoes are exactly what I was searching for. Very cushy and comfortable. I think 150 bucks is a bit steep for price, but it seems so few shoe companies offer anything great anymore, so I was glad to find these!
