These are nice looking boots and are a great shaft height hitting just below the kneecap on my 5'8" frame. The circumference is listed as 15.5 for a 7.5 shoe size, but because I wear a size 11, boot makers assume I have a huge calf and these boots look like galoshes on me due to an 18" calf measurement. So back they go and the boot search continues. To make matters worse, Shoes.com has them on sale for $80 less. As a huge Zappos fan this price difference is disappointing to say the least.

I LOVE these boots!!! I typically wear a size 8m, I have wide calves (left is 16", right is 15.5"), long legs and high arches. I purchased the medium brown full-grain 8.5. My feet slipped easily into these with minimal tugging, they fit my feet perfectly, zipped up easily over my right calf, zipped up over my left calf less easily the first wear, but fine each time after that. I love the height of them, they sit just under my knee. I was unable to feel much arch support, since my arches are high. The heal counter is stiffer than most boots, but this made them VERY stable for walking. I have older feet that are picky about comfort, but no issues other than that. I wore them all over New York City for 4 days, walked at least 5-7 miles each day, and they were perfect right out of the box. No blisters, no discomfort, kept my feet and legs warm and dry, the heel height was fine for walking. I wore them with smartwool light hiking socks, and zipped them over my jeans. I did almost slip once the day it snowed, but after that, I was more careful about how I walked. My friend who lives in NY says he slips in the slush regardless, so I didn't feel it was any fault of the boots themselves. I am SO very happy I bought these...they make an older gal feel very chic :)

I LOVE these boots! Comfortable, great style, fantastic quality! I’m 5’4 with muscular calves and long legs. This boot is great over leggings, jeans or wear with your favorite skirts. Bought a second pair immediately as backup! It was a snowy day and the waterproof, salt and chemical proof is so true! Love, love, love!

These are beautiful boots and they’re nice and tall. I have a somewhat wider calf, I am 5’8 and about 195. But the size 10 I ordered was a perfect fit around my calf. I generally wear a nine but even the 9 1/2 was a little bit snug especially if you were planning on wearing winter type socks. Nice quality on the boot although sadly they are made in China.

I absolutely love the look of these boots, but at 17" they are 1 inch too tall for me. (I am 5 ft. 3 in.)They bang me in the back of the knee, especially when I sit down. Not the fault of the boots -- but don't order them if you are shorter than 5'4". The material and workmanship are excellent and they probably would be quite comfortable. If you need arch support, you will have to add your own. Not heavily cushioned, as far as I can tell.

I loved the style of these but the leg part was too tall for my short frame. I'm 5' 1-1/2"and the top of the boot hit me too high in the knee. Disappointed.

These are beautiful. I struggle a great deal with high boots because my calves are bigger than they should be. I tried these and they’re gorgeous, but have to be returned. Bummer. But if you have regular sized calves, these are awesome. I said 5 stars because I’d have kept them if I could.

I ordered this boot, and the Timberland Banfield, which is very similar. The difference between the two boots is that this one (Sutherlin Bay) has a "crinkled" or "distressed" look to it that actually makes it so much more comfortable! The "wrinkles" provide more ankle mobility, which I like. If I wanted to feel like I was wearing ice skates, I would prefer the Banfields and their smooth look. The leather is thick, and high quality. The sole is solid. My legs are short (26" inseam) so these boots come right up to the bottom of my knee. It doesn't look bad, but if your legs are any shorter, you may be getting an over-the-knee boot that you weren't expecting!

I love the height of these boots. I'm 5'10". So they are super cool that way. They actually go up to my knees. And honesty I probably could have kept them if I took out the insole and threw in my orthodic. It wouldn't be the 1st time I've done that with a boot. I tend towards foot PRONATION though, and these boots seem to make that a bit worse. Not bad!!!! Like I said, I almost kept them. The leather is beautiful. I chose the grey. Comfortable heel, and decent toe box. Not bad all around. I just didn't want to rip out the insole. So back they go..... for now. If they go on sale I'll probably re-buy them!!

First the good news: 1) In the battle between the boot and my bunions, the leather is soft enough that even after the first day of lots of walking my feet still feel pretty happy. 2) I am 5'8" with long legs and it is very hard to find tall boots that don't hit me at the very unattractive mid-calf point. So I was happy to find tall boots that are indeed tall enough. (I don't care for the over the knee pirate look.) Now the bad news: My calfs are on the slim side and these boots are really wide! Even with jeans tucked in I can slip two hands in between the boot and my leg. I'll be keeping these boots because they are beautiful and comfortable; I just won't be able to wear them with skirts.

I’m a solid 7.5, but even with really thin sock these were too small, especially in the toe box. Got 8’s and love them. If I were planning on wearing these with anything other than tights or thinnish socks, I would have needed an 8.5.

Love love love these boots. I normally wear an 11 or 12, and the 11s fit great. At first, felt too tight in the toe box, but after just an hour, they felt perfect. I’ve never needed wide calf boots, but if you do, these definitely won’t work for you. They fit me perfectly in the calf, but couldn’t be any smaller. These boots are very stylish and not at all clunky, which is always an issue for me. I ordered these and the Fryes, and returned the Fryes. These rank up there with Born boots for me, my other favorite.

I really liked the style and color of these boots. I ordered 8.5 which fit great with socks (medium weight). The overall fit was great, however, the shaft height of 17", if I remember correctly, came just below my knee. After trying them on, I decided I would prefer a shorter shaft. Sadly, believe me, I had to return. Other than the shaft height, for me, I highly recommend these boots!

Right out of the box, the fit is tight-especially the width but not terrible. The leather will expand and loosen with time. I'm 5'4" and the boot height is just below my knees. The calf width is perfect; I have normal calves. The leather is a beautiful color and very soft. I love that these boots have traction and I can actually wear them in the winter without potentially slipping and falling. They look and feel well made. Overall, incredibly happy with this purchase-these boots are gonna last many winters!

These boots are cute and comfortable. They do have the elastic for many sizes. Will be keeping!

Love these!!! I wear a 6.5 - 7 and I bought the 6.5. I thought it might be a little tight at first, but after a day of wear they were perfect. They are sturdy and super cute and the color is just like the picture. I love the rubber bottom, it makes them super quiet when walking across a hard floor and sturdy out in the world and weather. I am 5’4” and these come up to just under my knee. I don’t have wide calves but there is elastic that can accommodate a wider calf I would think. If you are hesitant, just jump and buy these!
