I wanted a waterproof, sturdy shoe for dog walking, especially on wet trails early in the morning. The Salomon Outline mostly fits my needs. These run a bit on the larger size, which I like. Plenty of room for the toes to spread and socks. Super comfortable right out of the box. They are water resistant—my feet stay dry for about a mile on the dewy, early morning trails. When I hosed them off, however, they were wet all the way through, so not entirely waterproof, but they serve my needs. The only downside to the Outline is the lack of grip when walking on wet wood. I often walk my dog at a park that has wooden walkways. Today was wet and I felt a lot of slipping action. That gave the shoe a 4-star rating; otherwise, they are a solid 5.

I bought these last October and they are coming apart already (8/13)
They have been as advertised but did not last too long.

Nice looking and comfortable but the color wasn't as expected. Ordered what I thought was grey but it was more camouflage-green. Also either my foot's gotten wider or the M width is different. Returning and waiting for the blue to become available...will try W width.

Nice looking shoe, but the color of the chic/coral almond was green vs what looked like beige in like the picture. Also I'm normally a Med width but it was a little snug in the toe box so exchanging for a wide and in blue. Otherwise comfortable, sturdy looking and not too heavy.

Over 90 miles in five days through Mt. Rainer and my feet didn't hurt one bit. These shoes are GREAT for hiking. The size is just right. I did use my own insert which made the fit even better. The only disappointment is one day the trail was really dusty and it turned the dark blue sides and toe area into a weird brownish-blue color (reason for only four stars but will change to five stars if the shoes clean up). I've only tried to wipe the shoe down with warm water and a towel but will likely try a water hose with a little extra pressure next. From a comfort standpoint, you can't go wrong with this shoe.

I was looking for a light weight waterproof hiking shoe. These felt comfortable, but I felt they were lacking the support I need in a shoe. I have RA so my feet are picky when it comes to support. For many these would be perfect.

These shoes are super cool and stylish but they were too narrow for my foot. I'm a medium width, not wide and generally do not have a problem with shoes being too narrow. The length was true to size.

These are great trail walking shoes. They aren't very cute for a woman, but comfort is what matters. The run really big, almost a size too big for me. Zappos didn't have a smaller size, so I just kept these. I walk my dogs several times a day on trails in the woods. They have a great grip on the soles.

I have a wide foot and narrow heel so I was worried about buying these. I went up a half size because my size was not available. The width fits good, with plenty of room in the toe box. They slip a bit on my heels. Lacing with runner's loop helped some, but I wish they had another eyelet to secure your heel like running shoes do. Overall I was surprised how comfortable they are. I'm glad I went up 1/2 size.

I have a narrow foot. But! It’s hard to find good sneakers that handle water. My heels rise up so, I wear thicker socks or 2 pairs of Bombas.

Fit of shoes is so subjective- These mostly fit but oddly squeaked loudly as I walked around house. They are also stiff which may be from the gore tex- a feature that is a positive of course (the gore tex that is). I ordered a color that doesn't work for me, so between the squeak and the color I have to return them.

I love these, but only in dry weather. I got to try them out at a Salomon event and it wasn't long before I bought a pair. They fit true to size, and are immediately comfortable, without any breaking in required. I've happily walked in them for miles and miles and my feet never get sore. They have regular laces rather than the quick lace system, and this is a huge bonus for me, as I don't get on with the quick lace system. They seem to be holding up well, and have travelled with me in the English countryside as well as on Aussie bush walks, doing both equally well. They're my favourite hiking shoe when it's dry.
Their downfall? They are incredibly slippery on wet stone, rock or road. They're actually pretty much waterproof, but the soles lose all traction on wet hard surfaces. I'd hoped to be able to wear them walking around town, but I can't count the number of times my feet slipped out from under me when it rained. They lugs ensure they've got traction in mud, but anything hard and smooth is an accident waiting to happen. (However, that was a great "excuse" to buy a pair of Vaya GTX shoes, which have me covered for those conditions!)

Quality shoe with good sole and good traction. Only complaint is the stormy weather looks like a steel gray but actually has more of teal tinge than what looks like blue gray online.

The size is too big. I wear size 6 for other brands. I bought 5.5 for this shoes. A staff also advised me to wear 5.5. But it is big to me. Unfortunately I found it when I wear outside. It is better to buy one size down.

Really cute fit and true to size but the sole underneath the heel was not wide enough, so you could feel the edge of the sole in every step

Normally wear a size 10, but tried a 9.5 in REI in a different color. Ordered a 9.5 off Zappos and they felt a tiny bit big. Returning for a pair of Keen waterproof hiking/running shoes. The light grey is a bit more green colored, but they are still pretty cute. They feel a tiny bit narror in the arch, but not in the toebox. Defeintely more sturdy and less cushioning than a standard pair of running shoes. I normally wear Brooks and felt these might be too stiff for a light hike.

The arch of the shoe hit wrong because it was a little narrow for my foot. I have to say that that the unfinished edges on the tounge of the shoe made it seem cheaply made for the price

Great shoe, was slightly too wide for my low volume foot, good looking, great sole for trail use.

I love the fit and comfort but I found they ran a 1/2 size big I would prefer an 8 next time ! As my normal size is 81/2 . Now with my winter hiking boots the 81/2 is perfect

I have a pair of Salomon lightweight medium height hiking boots that I love so I thought I'd give these a try. These shoes are super lightweight, but I am looking for a shoe with more support around the bridge of my foot and toes to provide stability on hiking trails in the summer. These are too flexible and a tad tight around my baby toes for me so I am returning them. The tread is perfect for traction on the trails and the Gortex fabric is great for the wet climate of the Pacific Northwest. (My feet love the roomy toe box of New Balance shoes. My foot is wide-ish across the baby toe area and narrow towards the back so I only wear lace-ups. I purchased 8 medium which is my normal size.)
I'd also recommend:
New Balance, Merrill, Clarks, Uggs, Munroe for shoes. Columbia for SPF tops.

This is the first pair of Salomon shoes I have worn. I am an ex-Merrell wearer and these are ok. I normally wear a 6.5 in Merrell and the 6.5 in Salomon is a bit big. I kept them but would try a 6 next time. Not sure they are worth the money yet.

These feel just a bit short for me at 9.5–I wear a 9 in sandals and shoes and a 10 in running shoes, but here the 10 was too long for me (arch hit in the wrong place). After a week of solid wear, I’m doing ok in the 9.5, though I sometimes feel stress on my toes (depends a bit on the sock I have on). Overall, though, they’ve been very good for daily long city walks and some very light hiking. I feel a little nervous about ankle support on rougher terrain, but so far, so good.

Fantastic trail shoes. I bought these yesterday and have worn them on a fairly easy hike today while carrying my baby son on my back! They were very comfortable with excellent grip. The only reason I have not given them 5* is because my feet ache I think due to the flexible nature of the shoe. I doubt they would provide enough support for long or difficult walks/hikes. For my purpose though they are great.
