Good walking shoes. A little stiff for the first couple of walks, but then started to feel good.

I have always loved and worn New Balance and even though I need to use inserts, they fit me perfectly with the inserts in. (I have very narrow feet). The only thing about this pair is the tongue is a bit long and hits my ankle right in the front. I'm hoping that when they soften up it won't be so bothersome.

They are comfortable and you can feel the cushion as you walk. A little heavier than my last shoes, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Use the powerstep insoles and have a great pair of shoes!

Use for walking. Shoelaces much too long and constantly come untied.

I bought these for walking on trails and for extra support. They run slightly small so bought a half size up. They fit perfectly. They are quite structured and hold your foot firmly in place. The problem for me is with my plantar fasciitis I find the sole too hard. After wearing for an hour my heel starts to hurt and I need to get them off. My foot without plantar fasciitis is fine. I like them and am hoping when the PF calms down a bit I will be able to wear them longer then 1 hour. So I recommend them to those without plantar fasciitis.

Only one thing I don't like is the weight. They seem really heavy.

I liked the fit and style of the shoe. The only problem I had was that it rubbed my ankle bone, so I will be returning it.

I needed to size up my walking shoes to accommodate the expansion of my feet and bunions getting worse. New Balance has always been my standby, once I figured out that I need to go up a half-size from my regular shoes in them. Size on these is consistent with other New Balance shoes. So I was glad to find these shoes in XW. They are supportive and mostly comfortable. I'm having a little trouble with something in the toe box rubbing on the top of my toes in a couple of places, but I'm hoping that will stretch out with continued wear. I will probably try a different last next time to see if I can avoid that problem, but TBH I have problems with almost all shoes, and these are pretty good for my bad feet.

For me these seemed a little to narrow in the toe box. I kept them hoping they will stretch.

I was pleased with these shoes when I opened the box and put them on. But I need more room in the toe box, so I'm returning them.

I'm desperately looking for a good, solid, supportive walking shoe. I really like the way this shoe looks and has a great rugged sole for trail or path walking. I ordered the "Dark Gull Grey/Phantom" in a 12D. Love the color! Left shoe fit great. Right shoe felt tight. I really wanted these to work. Would order an EE/Extra Wide and try, but they are out of stock for this color. Hope they will come back in so I can try again.

These are very comfortable and that's not easy with my arthritic feet. The ONLY thing I dislike is that the laces come untied multiple times during the day - and I do often have them on most of the day. I do love New Balance shoes and the laces are not normally a problem.

I walk between 5 and 6 miles every day. I have been wearing these for 2 weeks, swapping them out with another pair every other day. So far they are supportive and comfortable. I have noticed, however that they are already well broken in, even with a "rest" day between. I hope their use time will justify the cost.

I bought these to replace worn out 983 trail shoes which I loved with old fashion good leather. I like the foam soles as they are both protective and well cushioned. The tread is also good. The revised cut on NB trail shoes does not make sense for long hikes. It is shorter and narrower. I had to immediately reorder a half size up. The toe box is normal width but not generous like the old shoes which is important for long walks and sock thickness flexibility. I did ok with these shoes in the spring, but with the first hot weather my toes swelled some and were chewed up. NB please bring back a more rounded toe box for serious shoes. Waterproofing is a nice feature but lacks breathability.

I really wanted to like these shoes (they are cute) but they hurt my bunions so I had to return them. I had high hopes but they fell short with feet pain.

I wear these every day for work and I'm in wet grass or mud a lot. I do like these sneakers I just wish they had more color choices and BETTER arch supports.

Love the support and feel. I need a wide width for my toes and have to scrunch down the ties to keep them on with my narrow foot but these work great after a few walks to get the ties in just the right position. I look forward to many more adventures on the trail.

My husband first ordered these and loved how comfortable they were right out of the box. I have to say the same. I order size 7. Can't wait to wear them on our cruise in October. Hopefully we will get to go.

I have two replacement knees. The 990's are better but these are pretty well fitting too.I do tend to walk out of them at the heel sometimes. I really like the looks of them. They are so suttle in design finally.

The round laces do come untied often so you can double knot or switch out laces.

I ordered these shoes online because I needed the support of New Balance on my feet to walk my dog a couple miles every day in winter weather (my NB mesh running shoes just weren't cutting it anymore - brr!). I read in some reviews that the heel is loose and I would agree with that, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. The first time I wore them out with ankle socks and I kept having to stop to pull the socks back up due to the movement of the back of the shoe on the back of my ankle. From then on out, I wore them with taller socks and honestly the loose heel didn't bother me after that. Recently, I wore them out on a snowy trail hike and my feet stayed dry and warm. Overall, I recommend them if needing taller socks and a slightly loose heel doesn't bother you and is worth the trade off for dry, warm, supported feet.
