I ordered this shoe in a wide width. Compared with other shoes I've tried in wide, I'd say this shoe runs a bit narrow. I gave this shoe 3 stars because I need to use orthotics in my shoes, and this shoe really didn't accommodate my orthotics. Once I put them in the shoes felt too tight. I wanted to try this shoe since it has a forefoot rocker and that is usually a good thing for me. I think that if you don't need to use orthotics it would be a good shoe with a nice amount of cushioning.

I've wanted to try Hokas for a couple years and ordered the Clifton 5s hoping they would be the perfect marathon training/recovery shoe. It took me more than 100 miles to finally admit that these shoes were doing serious damage to my right foot! I guess it was hard to accept because Hokas are touted as being so cushiony and comfortable, especially by people with foot problems. There's something about the band of rubber bordering the outside of the shoe just above the sole that created a lot of pressure and then pain in my arch. There are many other Clifton 5 reviews on Zappos detailing the same issue, but you have to dig for them. Also, I found the shoe a bit narrower and stiffer through the mid-foot than other shoes I've run in: Saucony Kinvaras, Brooks Pure Flows, Levitates. I may try another Hoka model, but the Clifton 5 is definitely not for me!

Have had them for 5 years now. Still my favorite sneakers. Soo comfy.

Clifton 5 has been my favorite shoe! So easy to walk in as it absorbs impact and rocks you forward effortlessly. Although they are for street running and walking and perfect for that, I do short, moderate hikes with them. I can’t find anything that feels so nimble and good. Wish they still made them! I’d buy 5 pairs.

Hokas were recommended by my podiatrist for and they are truly a great supportive shoe.

Excellent fit, and comfort.. Feels like you are walking on a cloud.

First I ordered four other pairs of hokas in size 6. Which is my normal size. They were all too big. Then I ordered this pair in a 5 1/2 and they were just right. I have been having horrible problems with my left foot. These shoes took me through 14 hours at Disneyland and not one single twinge. They are wonderful! I had even tried inserts in my tennis shoes and these are far better.

The only athletic shoes I will ever wear from now on!
