I actually liked these a lot, but I ended up going with the Hoka Bondi. The Bondi’s were a tad roomier in the toe box (width) than the Clifton. And while the Clifton had great cushioning, the Bondi had even more. Just personal presence I’m sure! I turned to Hoka’s after a bout of shin splints that would not go away. Hoka’s have less of a heel-toe drop than my previous shoes and it seems to have helped! I’m so happy!

I ordered a wide width this time because of my bunions. It helped. The shoe was a little large, but with thick socks, it is fine. I've wore Hokas since my podiatrist recommended them. I used to love them. They keep changing the styles and fits every few month, and the cushioning plays out within 2 or 3 months for me. I teach school and walk constantly all day long.
My BIG gripe about these shoes: the squeaking! I tried on the medium, my usual size, and it fit, but it squeaked. I tried on the wide and it did not squeak, so I kept it. The next day I wore it to school, and squeak, squeak, squeak! They never stop squeaking. For this price, these shoes should NOT squeak! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

This is my second pair of Hoka One One Clifton 5's and they are amazing!! These shoes helped me when I was recovering from a hairline fracture in my foot. Couldn't have done it without them. The advertising is spot on when they say that they are like walking/running on marshmallows! The toe box is very roomy so it gives your foot the ability to feel free and open; not crowded.

I developed Achilles tendonitis and also have bone spurs in both heels, not to mention bunions. This makes for painful and wide feet. I am not really a sneakers fan. But after trying a bunch of orthopedic shoes with no success of relief, friends recommended the Hoka. They were right, this is the most comfortable shoe I have tried so far and it also has very good support. I am usually between a 6.5 and 7, but the Hoka Clifton 5 runs a bit short and I had to go with 7.5. I ordered the wide, which worked fine for me, but it would be great if they came in extra wide too.
Walked the dog for the first time with no heel pain!

After years of running in Asics gel Nimbus, and their shoes became less cushioned, I have been looking for a replacement with lots of cushioning. I underpronate, so neutral shoes that Brooks and other brands just don't cut it. I had to exchange my first pair for wide width, but the exchange process was super easy and quick. Toe box is nartow on the regular width and the seams were rubbing against the sides of my feet. Wide with is super roomy, comfy, I love these shoes! I wish they were little more stylish, and came in cool colors, but quality is def there, not heavy as I expected, ran 6 miles easily on the first day, no pain whatsoever.

These are amazingly comfortable shoes! I'm a 71-year-old woman who walks a lot and does a lot of exercising at the gym. I need wide shoes. I needed to take the insoles out and replace them with my orthotics, as I have particular needs that no standard shoes correct for. I've gotten several compliments on these, and a several people at my gym were interested in getting some. I'll probably wear them out before long, so I know I'll be coming back for more!

I was recently diagnosed with Hallux Rigidus (stiff toe) and bone spurs in my big toe. Ordered these after reading about them in a Facebook group and a couple of other type of sneakers. I only kept these, and replace the insole with my custom orthotics. The rocking takes some getting used to, but I'm able to continue my daily walks of 2 to 5 miles once again with no pain! Going to order a second pair to switch up and the only reason I gave 4 stars for comfort is that they weren't as comfy with the insoles from the manufacturer as they could be.

these shoes are dope. they don't make my favorite NBs anymore so i tried adidas, nike, different NB styles before going big for the slightly more expensive hoka one one. and wow. the difference in quality is actually shocking! i paid more for these but i also got a lot more. these are a shoe i put on and never want to take off. i am not an intense runner and of course these are a running shoe but i am active, i hike, jog, do a ton of city walking, chase after my nephews, and these look cool and feel great in all contexts. very satisfied.

First time trying Hoka and it’s love/hate. Incredibly comfortable but pretty ugly although I have to give Hoka a thumbs up for providing a neutral black color option. Preferred this Clifton 5 to the Clifton 4 because it has a lighter upper with more flex and it’s more breathable. It’s incredibly cushy and the meta rocker technology is great for shock absorbtion which I need for my achy arthritic knees. Felt like I was walking on clouds!!! I usually wear 7W for my wide flat feet but liked the 7.5W better for the extra toe room so I could properly spread my toes and plant all toes as I walk. I only walk in these so you may not like the extra room if you run. Since it’s a neutral shoe, I added Superfeet insoles to provide the correct arch support for my flat feet. Be warned that they are hideously enormous (esp in wide size!) and ugly and I felt like Frankenstein but I felt it was a fair trade for the incredible comfort. In the end though, decided to go with the Hoka Bondi 6. I pronate inward on my back foot but supinate outward on the front foot so the Bondi with the extra side stability worked best for me. I added the ultra cushy Copper Superfeet insole which provided just enough added cushioning to make it comparable to the Clifton. I do really like the rocker technology and may go back and buy these Clifton pair at a later time! Just a tip: Love New Balance shoes and they offer a shoe with rocker technology as well. Give those a try if these don’t fit right!

ordered my usual size and fits perfect. These sneakers have awesome padding and are very good if you have any kind of foot issue. The bottom of the sneakers are thick so not very stylish, but if health and avoiding foot pain is the goal, these sneakers are the answer

I wear women’s size 8D and wore out my pair of Hoka One One Arahi. The Clifton 5 is true to size with a little less cushioning in the sole than the Arahi. However, less cushioning in the Clifton 5 seems to make my feet work a little less and my legs do not tire as easily as they did in the Arahi. Although I take a wide width, my heels do not slip out of Hoka One One shoes. I also like the rounder toe box. It is perfect for my foot. The arch support in the Clifton 5 is perfect for me—not too much. I love these shoes!

This was my 1st time purchasing Hoka brand shoes and all I can say is WOW! Now, I don't think they are the most stylish shoes, but I had to go with extreme comfort over style. Several years ago I broke by foot in several places and also broke my sesamoid. My foot has been great, but the right shoes are more crucial now than ever. I have medium Width foot, but a wide toe bed for me relieves any foot pain so based on reviews I got these in a Wide just to be safe and they are perfect. The comfort is amazing and I actually think I walk faster in these. For years I have always gone with the Brooks Glycerin or Ghost, but lately those have struck out. These are a winner.

The fit is good. I like the support but wanted a little higher support in the heel so I added a heel lift. It solved my shin splint pain. Good shoe for jogging or walking!

These are athletic shoes so fit and comfort, not style is why I bought them, though they look fine. The fit is great and I just generally love the Hoka One One brand. They give good arch support and I like the removable inner sole. This is my third pair and I'll stick with Hokas!

I've become a Hoka One One fan and because I wear a larger size and need a wide width because of an ankle brace, the availability in my size is limited. I've tried several styles over the past month. In the other styles I've tried, Arahi 3 and Bondi 6, the shoe length is perfect in a size 11. In the Clifton 5, my big toe hit the end of the shoe, so I'm sending it back. Maybe it was a fluke with this pair of shoes, but I find it odd that the same size in this style is a bit too short than in others.
The support in the Clifton 5 is very good and the colors are fabulous. The higher "heel" is very good for my Achilles tendon problems. The removable sole allows me to use the Richie brace I'm wearing right now. I love Hoka One One shoes and suggest that if one style doesn't fit right, keep trying.
I would recommend Zappos have a larger volume of shoes available in the larger sizes and wider widths. These sell out fast, so there's an obvious need.

My hope is these shoes absorb some impact for my bad hip. Walking around they are extremely comfortable unlike any athletic shoe I have owned. Double what I might normally spend but if they help prevent pain it’s worth it!!!

I’m a fussy person. I love the Hoka one ones I just wish they wouldn’t keep changing their styles every year
That being said this time I was very pleased with the ease of transition to the new style. No compromise in fit this time!!
Fit perfect. Plenty of room in toe area. True to your size.
I just not thrilled with the “pattern change”, but it’s the fit and excellence of the Hoka’s that Keep me comming back.

Really comfortable shoe! I love the cushioning and the wide toe box. Other than the design and color choices of the upper, I don't notice any performance changes from the Clifton 4.

I wish the arch was a little higher as I have some over pronation in my left foot and I have developed a case of runner's knee in my left leg after my first half marathon. I will look into getting custom insoles, but after being recommended these by a running store I was hoping to skip that. Overall though they are the most comfortable shoes and I could walk all day with no problems once I broke in the ridge around the ankle.
