This was our second Youth Recon Squash Backpack purchase. Our 6-year-old has enjoyed his for about a year now and it's still in great shape, and our 4-year-old's Octonauts backpack was starting to fall apart, so it was time for him to get an upgrade that will last. He loves it!

I bought this for my daughter as she starts kindergarten. My son has had the same pack for 3 years and it has held up great. It's big enough for school supplies and a lunch box but isn't overwhelming for a kid to carry.

Owned for 3 months. Bought for my twin 5 y/o boys. The packs are perfect size and likely will be for many years. Strong design. Carries multiple books, tablet, and water bottle + snacks. Well padded. Kids love them. Use for hiking and school.

Bought this for my grandson he picked out the color himself, he carries it all over the place with his books and toys he six. Great size.

I purchased this backpack for my average sized 5yo kindergartener. It's a great size for him, I would say ages 5-7 would do well with this backpack. He says it's cool. It feels nice and lightweight, and there is a clip on the straps to keep them on securely. Love the side pockets for water bottles.

I bought this for my son again. he likes this, perfect size for kids and shoulder strap fits very well. and the patches are great

My 5 year old is about to start kindergarten. I wanted a backpack that would 1) be durable enough to last more than one year, 2) has water bottle side pockets, 3) has a class so a jacket can hang outside of the bag, 4) be a toddler friendly size, and 5) fit folders. I had no idea that requirement #5 would be the most challenging! I almost bought an adult bag because most of the kids ones were too small. I also love the patches on the black bag which reflect my family's love of the outdoors.

FYI the backpack show is not the product. Another great North Face backpack - we had the sprout from age 1.5 - 3. This is a lot larger than the sprout but fits our toddler perfectly, she is on the taller side. We appreciate all the pockets and places to store things.

We have been on the hunt for a bright Orange backpack for my now 6 year old for the past couple of years, and given how pleased I have been with my own North Face products over the years, I was so excited to find this one. This is an excellent size, with supportive, comfy straps and drink holders on both sides that snugly hold a water bottle. The inside has enough pockets for easy organization and so that things don't get jumbled! And the weight seems well distributed. My son especially loves the chest clip- would love to see the little whistle as an added feature there! We have used this for hiking and traveling so far this summer and I can foresee this traveling many miles with us.

Five years strong! Bought this back pack (lime green lightning bolt design not available anymore) for my sons first day of TK... he will begin FOURTH grade next month with the same backpack. Yes school was online last year but it still held his books and got dragged around. Love it, we've washed it, looks great still, and the stitching is still perfect. Looking for one now for my daughter.

Stylish bag

The design is cute and fits perfectly to my 5yr old. He loves wearing it and looks comfortable with the padded straps. Nice quality also so I'm sure we'll be using it for years to come.

This is our second backpack for my kids, not because it's worn out, but because it's the perfect size and durability for my grade schoolers. We've had not issues with it at all. Once the kids have out grown them for school, they're perfect day packs for hiking or for carry on bags for travel. Very happy to have found this backpack for our family.

I got this for my 4 year old who is starting preschool. He's very tall for his age and this is a great size for him. We also plan to use for at least 3 more years and I think the size will still be great. I can't wait for him to travel with this as well.

This backpack is so handy for taking my everyday needs. In it I have my phone, phone charger, small purse, keys and other personal items I may need! I Love It !!!

My son has had this backpack since kindergarten, and is now almost finished grade 3. I would highly recommend this to any parent needing a backpack for their kids for school. It's a little stained since it is a lighter colour (I wish they would bring back more colors), it's not falling apart at all, even the straps aren't fraying anywhere. Only reason I might need a new one is to get him a bigger one.

I decided to purchase this bag once my toddler bag wearing pull-ups. I didn't want to carry a bulky diaper bag anymore and this is a great size. I used it for travel as well. It made a good carryon for snacks, change of clothes, and toys.
