It's really pretty but it's really really small, so have that in mind. It's perfect for a little kid but no computer, nothing else! For hiking is perfect because you are able to take the necessary stuff

I bought this for my 2nd grader. He loves the style and quality design. It's about right for him and the amount of stuff he takes to school which includes a folder, a lunchbox, a 24 oz. water bottle, a library book, and small miscellanea like masks and nick-knacks. He can also stash his jacket in it. But I think it's too small for bulkier binders and text books. I just got my 5th grader the Women's Recon backpack, which looked big on her, but she fills it up already. I think the Youth Recon Squash is best for K-4 or kids under 4'6".

I got it for my Kindergartener. Perfect size for him to grow into over the next few years. He says it's comfortable to wear. Wished it had a tablet sleeve and that it would be waterproof. Hope it holds out on walks to/from school in the rainy weather!

I use this bag as a gym bag. It holds the essentials. It is an appropriate size for my needs, considering I want something small and for on the go. I also love the patches! The only bad thing about the bag is that it tends to loose it's shape fairly quickly when compared to other NTF backpacks.

From previous experiences, this bag last long and it's not too big for a kindergartner. Cute color

My son is 7yrs old. I got it for him. It fits everything that we need. No rips and tears. We've had it for about 6 months. It's pretty durable. My sons is really rough with his stuff. Usually breaks everything. Rips and straps are still intact. So that's a plus.

Fits my 50th percentile kindergartener well. Most little kids backpacks are way too wide. Fortunately, these straps fit his narrow little shoulders well and are comfortable for him. The bag part itself is rather wide - it looks big on him but manages to fit. I would have preferred a bag with a narrower profile - he likes to run to/from school and it's challenging with this flapping behind him but not impossible. I like the small pencil pocket up top - great for keeping his masks separate. Would have liked a bag that was at least rain resistant so his things weren't getting soggy when it rains (most school days in the PNW!). I bought North Face for this reason. Still, it's been holding up well through some rough use and hides dirt well. Good enough for a school bag, needed something better for outside (forest) school.

Got this backpack for my son in Pre-K. He is going into 2nd and while the bag is still in great shape and has held up well, its just too small for all the gear a 2nd grader needs. It does not fit a binder, but will fit a folder. About half the time his lunch was clipped to the outside of his bag because anything more than a folder in his backpack would mean the lunch bag wouldn't fit.

I bought this back for my 5 year old son entering kindergarten and wanted something that would last. I have had my own NF backpack 20 years. He loves it but I agree with the other reviews it is small for what they expect kids to carry to school now. It fits his homework folder and his lunch but in the winter he has the put his sneakers on the outer front pocket and one has fallen out time to time. I had to buy him an extra set of snow pants to keep at school because they did not fit with sneakers/boots and lunch or projects that came home. He will definitely need a bigger size once he needs to starts carrying books. Otherwise, I do love it and the design is great and might take it for myself for day trips when he gets a bigger one.

Had to find a smaller backpack than my full size Women's NOrthface for travel this summer (as the airline that I'm traveling through says "small backpack" After hunting and not finding one that was both functional and roomy - I decided on a Youth size backpack. The backpack fits on my 5 foot 2 frame but the chest strap does not buckle. Overall, I prefer my full size Northface but when faced with needing a smaller backpack - I believe this will work like a charm.

My SK kiddo loves this pack. She crams so much stuff into it, it's like the clown-car of backpacks some days. In addition to her reading/work folders and books, the pack has room to hold a So Young branded lunch bag along with snowpants and other winter accessories when not in use. I dropped one star because the interior could be improved with a separate document pouch along the inside back (if that makes sense) to help keep papers and folders from being crumpled. Overall though very pleased and lots of room to take her to next grade and beyond.

I purchased this backpack for my 2nd grade son thinking he would be able to use it for several elementary school years. However, when it arrived I decided it was too small, especially for more than one year of school use. So I returned it and ordered a pivot, which I think will last him for a long time. This would be a great backpack for preschool, K and 1st.

The book bag itself is durable and also very small. I bought it for my son but ended up gifting it to my niece who is half my sons age w smaller books and a lighter daily load.

We love NF backpacks and have ordered many. I got this one for my son to travel and for Kinder. The black one comes with a green chest buckle which is not pictured. Exchanged twice.

This backpack was perfect size for our child as far as comfortable carrying but due to the school laptop carried daily it was too small. Unfortunate bc the pattern, quality and durability was fabulous!

Very well made as I expect from north face, but too small. I expected it would be bigger for a youth size. Had to return. Children are only 8 and 10
