The shoes are "advertised" as being a "M/W" width. The wide width is not very close to a true wide width...don't be fooled.

Good looking shoe but very uncomfortable for me! And way to I hard to put on. I wish it came without the neoprene liner (waterproof was not an important feature for me). I'd buy two or three in other colors if they were comfortable shoes.

I decided to purchase Johnston&Murphy shoes because I used to own a pair, but I do recommend that they get purchased at the store because they can be inspected and truly fitted. Only pictures versus what I got is not a fair comparison, colors look different and for the price honestly not worth how they feel.

It was hard to get a comfortable fix with the dual width.

I bought this on 2018. Very happy with the purchase, very comfortable one. I wear them only during weekends if I happen to go out. Weekdays, I can't wear them as these shoes are not allowed. However, after 6months, they started to fade(picture posted). I asked online through chat, they recommended a kit which did not work at all. Very disappointed. Since then, it is in my closet. If only I knew how to fix this...I would have given 5 star. Sorry J&M.

This is a very nice looking shoe. I am disappointed to have to return them. The soft collar entry point makes it way too difficult to get on over my high arch wide feet. It required a shoe horn and a lot of effort to finally get my foot into the shoe. Way too much effort to be practical.

I bought two different colors of these shoes when they first came out. The shoes are great as long as the sides are clean and white, however, that doesn't last long...they become discolored and will yellow. Once that happens, they become an expensive shoe to wear around the house. Disappointing quality for the XC4 brand that is sold with a "Designed to Perform" message. I asked J&M about a warranty - only 90 days. I've searched online for ideas on how to clean them...nothing. Time to look for a new brand.

I've had these since last summer and they were not worn often (maybe 30 days max). They start to lose their shape and stain easily. The lining is starting to fray and I constantly have to put them on again and again. Last pair of J&M for me.

I was excited when these shoes arrived. Very nice looking and well made. Then I put them on. too long and too tight. I measured them against other 12 XW shoes I have from other manufacturers and they were about 1/2-3/4" longer and 1/4-1/3" narrower. I had to return them. Pretty sad. If your foot is not too wide, order a size down and you'll have a good looking pair of shoes that are well made (note a neoprene booty on the inside for waterproofing. a different approach).

I ordered a 9.5 medium. The 9.5 was just right but the medium was too narrow and hurt my pinkie toes. There's a label that states that dual width so I took out the insole and it fits. But the bottom insole is stitched and no arch support. Why on earth would I pay so much for this shoe and lose the nice insole for a lat one. Why didn't they make the nice insole the main insole. I don't get it. I returned the shoe and ordered another in size 10 medium. The 10 was okay but the width was the same. I had hoped that the width would be wider. No such luck so I returned the shoe.

Upon removing the top insole and wearing for a while my arches began to hurt and the shoe became most uncomfortable. Thus, I had to purchase some arch supports to insert into the shoe so I could were them or just give them away,.Unfortunately, the support slightly move your foot forward which cause another problem..the shoe becomes too tight. Sorry for the poor review but you need to know the truth.

So narrow I could not get my foot into the shoe. All my JM shoes are the same size, no problems.

I have bought these shows for years. Love them. Not my most recent purchase, but the one before, the shoes clearly had been returned and were missing the extra pair of shoelaces. The laces that are blue with a white stripe. I emailed customer service and never heard back. In the past Custober service has been spot on. Not this time. I feel ignored with no response. Would love to get the missing laces as those are the ones I utilize, the laces with the white stripe.

Incredibly uncomfortable. Very stiff heal, that rubs. Fits extremely tight for the size. Will be returning. Too bad, because they look cool.

If you need shoes (like Samuel Hubbard) which actually cushion your feet, the claims in this description are incredible. I've made it to lunch in the office and am experiencing more pain than I've had in years (from sprained and resprained ankle). According to step counter, after just 1100 steps. Shame on suxh an iconic American shoe maker to claim extra comfort and cushioning in a shoe offering less than minimal levels of either.

Had a similar pair that was terrific. Bought an 8.5. Out of the box, it was incredibly tight. Either it was mislabeled or not manufactured to spec. Seems like quality control issue. Still a J&M fan, but this shoe disappointed. Already returned.
